@@technoguyvlogs5449 same, when I saw the class 700, I was wondering how it sounded and it doesn't sound like the class 319, and I was really disappointed, the 319 and 455 are the best trains to ever be used in London and it's really sad we will never ever see these Trains nowadays, both the 319 and 455 will always have a place in my heart and in my opinion both are the greatest trains of all time, as well the last two old school and fun trains, and the noise these machines make is amazing and awesome and incredible and they look and sound angry and they remain you what's they are all about. @@fearless144 okay. Class 319 will be difficult since they don't go around here anymore. But 455's, 377's and even 700's go round here so that is easier. Maybe one day they will bring back the 319's.
Damacy the fact you replied to the video saying that modern trains were better does show the stupidity. Furthermore it’s quite proven that older stock sounds much much better than sadly heaps of shit
I used to go to a college near the lines into Blackpool North, meaning that in one of my classes I could hear these units screaming past. I think the linespeed there is 70.
I'm quite surprised that being a unit built in 1990, doesn't have any kind of rheostatic braking at least. I assume back then BR saw this technology too costly in the case it failed too often? I don't know, it would've been pleasing to hear its thrash all the way till the next station. 😁
The hungarian BVmot/Bvhmot series have almost the same sound. They have a modified version of a GEC engine producing 1755kw of power(4 engines) idk which exact GEC motor it is. Ganz Mavag and GEC did some coop work during the time when Ganz-Mavag made some trains for New Zealand. Ganz leased a plan from GEC Traction Limited for the engine but i dont know which one exactly (The Ganz Mavag trains in New Zealand have the exact same sound as class 313 maybe a bit 317). After said lease they improved upon the design and with the cooperation of ABB they made a completely new much stronger engine upon the GEC license which has a unique sound to it but its still very reminiscent to class 313-317-319. If you want to listen to it i leave a video here! Also if you could tell me which engine or which train the BVhmot sounds most alike to please dont hold it in!!! th-cam.com/video/N55fRcQWCaU/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=tgabor1122
@@fearless144 The train is running off overhead wires at 25kV AC, but this is stepped down and rectified to ~1000V DC. Note that this is higher than the 750V DC when on third rail, which is why the 319 accelerates faster on AC. The 750 to 1000V DC is then chopped up by a chopper circuit using PWM which is then fed to the DC motors on the train. So the train draws AC power and converts it to DC for the motors.

When using the OLE you have the transformer hum to greet you when you board the motor coach (the one with the pantograph), reminding me of the original Tardis hum lol. This hum is of course absent on 3rd rail. The initial noise is the electronic chopper motor control until the motor and gearbox noises take over.
When these trains are on overhead, you can hear the sound of the 50Hz sound from the overhead line. The 50Hz AC is converted to DC with a rectifier, and then chopped into pieces to control the speed of the motor.
If only electric cars sounded like this , I would get one straight away .
Oh yea
Me to
THIS IS ELECTRIC
Who wouldn't?
L I think they meant cars
Please take care of our old 319s. We miss them down here in the south
Well no more 319s next year as they are going because of the Class 730s so they are going forever :'(
@@jxyzzz_7 oh cool
We sure do miss them
Some live on as Class 769's if this helps? Northern are using them. Also Scotrail are testing them as well.
I love these Class 319 trains as a kid 😍😍😍 and the sound it makes so good and slick 🔥🔥🔥.
It is such a shame they got rid of them London they were perfectly alright. I agree I love the traction motor too sound so good.

This is why brel units are the best! They have that loud motor thrash unlike the boring whiny modern tech rubbish we have nowadays.

Modern is better

Fool, I was sharing my opinion you fucktard, I PERSONALLY like modern trains more
Modern isn't shit. Older are closer to the trains made out of asbestos period and newer isn't :)
0:13. That’s just lovely
Wonderful sound. Music to my ears
I love the whining motors when it departs
Sounds almost like a soviet ER2 loco. Which is a huge compliment really. Although ours was even louder and had a richer, tone to it with no whistle.
THAT SOUND 😍😍😍
🇭🇰MLR Train..MTR
thankfully this unit is still operating with northern
this unit is still in the ex-thameslink livery up north. just plain white and blue
I need to ride this 319 BROOOO THE SOUND THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I rode it today! Still the same!
I love the sound of the engine! pure power. a train show
The only reason it makes that screaming sound is the way they made the belt that connects the traction motors to the wheels
I love motor Thrash on the Class 319
Jesus Christ. That is some serious motor thrash
Absolutely. But now Ur gonna have to go up north to find em
