I'm still struggling with tones. It's ok to struggle. Have a good day.
Your tones are so clear and what is really helpful is to see how your mouth is shape in making the sounds. This is brilliant! Even with what may be seen as fairly similiar to English sounds the shape and movement of your the mouth provide important clues as to what I should be aiming at. This video is really helpful. 👏👏👏👍
Thank you so much for helping me make sense of tones. Your examples are so easy to understand that I'll watch this every time I need a refresher. For what it's worth you're making a real difference in my girlfriend's life & mine. She's Chinese which is why I'm learning Mandarin, and finally being able to use & hear tones correctly will make it a lot easier to communicate with her family.
Namaste 🙏 from the sacred soil of the Indian subcontinent. I am deeply grateful for your wonderful videos-they are a treasure of knowledge and inspiration. Your work has been immensely helpful for learners like me, and I cannot thank you enough for the effort you put into creating such meaningful content. I humbly seek your guidance on something I find a bit challenging. I am here for one request ma'am. The third tone is in Mandarin. Specifically, I struggle to understand how to read sentences with two, three, or even four third tones. It would mean the world to me and many others if you could kindly create a detailed video covering all aspects of the third tone in such cases. Your kind help and expertise would be a great blessing to learners like me, and I would be forever grateful for your support. I'll be very happy for considering this request. Thank you ---
I've been learning 10 months now, but, I would have loved to have found your channel at the beginning. Very good advice! I am still struggling with tones, but using 2 together is great advice! Thanks Laoshi, and you're close to 1000 subs!! 加油! Wishing you all the best in the new year!
Im gonna do this video every morning and night.I feel myself getting better already.I already speak a tonal language but our tones are not written so we never saw them as tones just like different pronounciation.
Hello laoshi!I just wanted to know, do chinese memorize the tones in their head(pinying and the specific tone) or they just memorize the way the word sounds and they figure out the tones after that
Before young kids learn pinyin in school, they do not know the concept of intonation. Tones comes naturally for native speakers. In school, kids learn how to use pinyin to spell the pronunciation of Chinese characters. When learning learning new words, we memorize their pinyin syllables and how to write the characters.
what happens when you have more than two third tones following each other? For example, in 或者你可以找我姐姐 are all intermediate characters 者你可以找我 pronounced as second tones?
Hi there, if you need the thorough guidance on tones, please feel free to check out this video. th-cam.com/video/IrR48shSGn0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=G4TNyYynEAogNNLs
Im a man with a bad voice who can not sing. And when I try first tone, a lot of times my voice cracks. And in generel my first tone doesn't sound natural at all. Any tipps on how to address this?
You are way overdoing it. You don’t need to be able to sing at all. It doesn’t even have to be very high pitch. It’s just high relative to the other tones. It can even be quite low, as long as the pitch remains steady and the third tone goes even lower.
