I tried this rule set and I only disagree with one thing, having the hero's banned on the main campaign. The point Of this ruleset is to make more active gameplay, but on the later stages in the main campaign I found not having a hero to be really boring and frustrating, now obviously this might just be a skill issue, but hero micro is very important to the gameplay loop of this game imo and removing it makes the game feel slower.

Thank you, I hope there isn’t some exploit I have overlooked. That’s why I said similar, and not “the same” (Bolin & Elleria lmao) To be honest I was surprised to see how much Malik had to offer. When the game is pushed to be harder, and the other heroes that fills his role are banned, he I really shines. He saved my ass on multiple levels. I considered banning Gerald at first, but that wasn’t necessary in the end.

You can tell already that he does perform nicely in stages with artillery banned but barracks still allowed. The main iOS differences are actually circumvented by the fact that Smart Targeting works on Musketeers on Steam, so that upgrade being banned will help save iOS from being at a disadvantage. However, there are some hero differences on iOS, such as Malik leveling up more slowly, King Denas's range having a donut shape that gives him a blind spot, Alleria shooting one less arrow, and Magnus's skills having Vengeance syndrome, where if you move him out of the animation of the ability, it wastes the cooldown. So, most every hero is weaker on iOS, which might matter more since towers are overall weaker than before, giving the hero more weight to carry. When I am done with LKR content I hope to play the Champion Difficulty Challenge from start to finish, so I'll let you know what I notice once I start!
@@Voduke789 Interesting, I did notice some of those hero differences, the range on Magnus’ clones is huge. Also splash damage reduction is being put on top of the teslas damage on steam, so it has 31-66 damage with no smart targeting. On iOS if you don’t have smart targeting, the Tesla has the usual 66-121, but the splash damage reduces it on each attack, however it seems like the reduction works differently, I just played some more iOS and the Tesla definatly deals more damage, than it does on steam, but with smart targeting it’s the same on both versions. Like I stated in the video, meteors also tends to land more randomly on iOS, for instance On Champion, I can very consistently delete a demon lord with rain of fire without using reinforcements to hold him, but on iOS I have to use reinforcements to keep him in the residue to make sure he dies. Maybe all the advantages and disadvantages evens out in the end, I should have tested it more on iOS before releasing, but I thought of it too late.

This seem like it would be mainly fun on Normal even though I usually play on Veteran. The way you'd have to give up almost all of the top strategies or overpowered upgrades seem really fun, but also seem it would be frustrating on the harder postgame stages on Veteran. Also, would it make sense to allow Tier 1 for Wrath of the Forest? From my experience Wrath of the Forest is mainly useful when maxed out, and at only Tier 1 it's a far cry from being as powerful as TIer 3.
You get it, Veteran is supposed to get insane later on, and normal is already very challenging. If you enjoy normal, you can always try Veteran after, and then you will be even more dialled in. I considered allowing tier 1 Wrath of the forest, but I didn’t wanna leave any stalling options other than barracks, even though we are only talking 1 second stun, once you start micro’ing 3 barracks around the map, the game feels really good and is more engaging. I know the teleport is still there but the Arcane needs all the help it can get, and it isn’t very reliable anyway. Also its more simple to just ban it, I didn’t want to have too many tier 1 restrictions so the rules are easier to follow.
Oh I forgot why I scrapped it in the first place. If you are playing on normal and even more so on casual, musketeers are not at all necessary, so if Wrath of forest tier 1 is allowed, you will have even less of a reason to use musketeers. On Veteran musketeers are really relevant, and the shrapnel shot almost seems required to beat some stages. So if you go from Normal to Veteran, there is now a higher chance, to have experienced the benefits of musketeers.
@@C-o-z-y-n-e-z I agree. Plus, with enough gold, you can still spam Rangers and get about 50% uptime on the stun, which can easily override barracks if you’re combining heroes + reinforcements for stalling power.
These kind words like having no shame on lowering the difficulty it's just something you need to improve on, gave me the motivation to complete all iron and heroic challenges in KR origins. Even though I am not very good.
My general rule playing KR series - no life loss at any level. No monster can pass. IronHide Games should give as something like hardcore mode, where you have only 1 life.

If it's the same as iOS I think Pit of Fire and Pandemonium is going to be very frustrating, beacuse the demon legions won't die to a single rain of fire on steam, so it's going to be even harder to get rid of them with the rain of fire on iOS & Android.

Wow, this is what I was waiting for. I play on android and already completed all of the levels on veteran whit free heroes and heroic and iron challenges years ago. This is a brand new challenge to try really interesting to play without broken teslas and rangers. I will also miss that golems. Its an honor to be part of the KR community. Lets go for more.

I've just completed all the campaign stages on veteran (except for rotten forest, fungal forest, pit of fire, pandemonium and castle blackburn) with this ruleset. This thing is a banger
Without removing shrapnel shot, most strategies involving musket spam just plow through most levels on veteran, with adequate damage rng on the harder stages.

Great challenge, I've tried to for myself. So far, I've managed to beat all campaign levels including their heroic and iron variants with one exception. The last level I just cannot beat on iron despite hours of struggle. The issues are the following: i absolutely have to kill demons before they reach the bottom because they are just gonna combust on my barracks, which leads to the second issue, the lack of aoe damage. So far the shrapnel shot has been the most effective one, but ultimately fails because of the third issue, the armored lane. Despite having sufficiently powerful mage towers on the right, they inevitably target the demons on the other lane. I believe earth elementals would solve the issue, but that is banned unfortunately, perhaps does anyone have any tips for the level?
I know it is late but, I got one thing witch will make it way harder. Just one type of level 4 . If you chose tesla you can't use Big Bherta. If you understand , but just on a level not all challange (sorry my english)
I think it has been already answered, but why is Gerald allowed? I know he's free and everything, but he's like the 4th strongest hero in KR1. Isn't he going to become even more powerful on this difficulty because it encourages heavy use of barracks? Again, haven't tried this challenge myself yet, hard to evaluate. Under normal circumstances, there's major difference in power level between the remaining heroes, with Gerald and (to a lesser extent) Magnus rising above the others. Maybe both of them should be banned. Then there is a small chance for heroes like Bolin to see some use. I guess that Malik and King Denas will shine the most then. That's quite nice. I'd personally allow usage of Ingvar, Thor, Malik, Alleria, Bolin and Denas. This way you still have 3 moderately good melee heroes and 3 ranged (but more situational) heroes.
As you reccomend people war champion, I should reccomend you Voduke with an objective hero list according to which you should ban Gerald instead of Thor and Ingvar
Malik fills the role of Thor, they are very similar in skills, Malik is free so I picked him. Ingvar is banned beacuse I wanted to keep as few paid heroes as possible, he should maybe have been left in there in hindsight, but it is as is right now. Like I said in the video Malik becomes much more relevant, and on some stages performs better than Gerald. I was suprised by this myself, as I had intended to ban Gerald at first. This is beacuse artillery is not spamable anymore, atleast I think that's part of the reason why.
@@C-o-z-y-n-e-z I see the point in disabling Thor - enabling him won't mean too much for the gameplay, however I would argue disabling Ingvar is a bad choice. He was a hard hero to rank for Voduke, because he may either be useless or cheating, therefore his speciffic mechanics may make some stages beatable. Confining the variety of tools makes the game less strategic and more try-hard, I don't know if that's the point of creating this difficult mode.
Yeah I think Ingvar could have been left in there, I can't really remember why I banned him in the first place, I started testing back in february. In a way yes, Champion is meant to play less like a tower defense, you are observing less, and making more active decisions, which you could chose to do before, but here its more required. It's not going to be for eveyone, and not all restrictions are made to serve the balance, some are meant to incourage the more active style of play. I feel like balance restrictions are not that new of an idea, so I made something different, which I enjoy playing.
At some point maybe, but I think I wanna stream it if I do. Right now though I dont' feel like beating it again, it took a while to playtest and also beat from start to finish, so I am fed up with Kingdom Rush right now. I also don't want to show too much right away, I want people to experience and learn it for themselves, that's part of the fun.

I tried this rule on sarelgaz lair veteran and it took me 40 attempts to win it(i focused to getting sorcerers to clear high armoured enemies early with tesla so i can clear everything much easier and wave 18-20 as well)
I would like to, but it comes down to priority, which is not where it’s at right now. Frontiers would also take a lot more work, beacuse of the more expansive hero system, and I wanna make it better than this.
Played this game occasionally for many years, but since I’m weak and bad and hated challenge, I always played on casual, currently I’m very close to 100% the game on normal, I am NOT ready for this
I got an idea which will make champion mode way too hard. We should have a tower limit. I mean, lets say i put 1 rangers and then, 1 wanna put 1 more. But there is a tower limit. It says you can only put 1 rangers in this level.
I actually had that idea, but it was with the sorcerer. In one of the early renditions of this you could only buy 1 sorcerer pr. stage, but I felt like it would complicate it too much, and it was annoying because I didn’t wanna have any restrictions on the towers itself. So I ended up banning summon elemental, and then the sniper shot, and the polymorph was already banned, it ended up balancing out the 2 mages pretty well.
Precision is banned just make the game a bit harder thats it. Thor is banned because him and Malik have pretty much the same kit, Thor just has better stats, but I don’t find his abilities as reliable as Maliks, besides Malik is the hero who never gets used, so I went with him.
To be honest if I end up making more rulesets, then Vengeance is the last priority, I don't enjoy playing the game anymore, and I don't think I can make it enjoyable for myself.

the way i play kingdom rush there just seems no difference in champion maybe a few also trying this difficulty on casual and its so fun already also i feel like barbarians and even arcane are kinda op in this difficulty
Try it on Veteran, I think that will change your perspective. Sorcerers damage spread and armor lowering is so vital in this difficulty, arcane has high single target dps, but the sorcerer deals more damage to multiple targets if it can spread the curse around, however instakills are of course very good in the first kingdom rush. The idea of champion is that the difficulty comes from it being far harder to slow enemies down, so barbarians are not that op beacuse they die so quickly, they deal a lot of damage, and are good for flying enemies and a little stalling. Paladins holds ground for far longer than them, just not as long anymore, against enemies with high dps.

The list of rules is very long, and those are left out to make them simpler to follow. I would not use the sheeping if I couldn't tap them, and I don't know if other people would, Wrath of the Forest tier 1 is interresting, but I prefer to get rid of as much stalling as possible, so barracks have more of a purpose, it almost feels like a new game to me now, if you compare the exploit based gameplay to Champion. Basicly I wanted to make it as hard is I could to stop enemies, so you have more of a reason to use instakills when the time is right, more of a reason to micro of barracks to keep them alive, and manage waves, it all amounts to a more active gameplay experience, where you are making more decisions pr. second.
Hey Cozy if I balance the difficulty in Vegeance and make it more challenging, what will you think? I'll restrict the RNG based, soul upgrades/towers' upgrades/heroes' upgrades. I would do it if you accepted.
@@C-o-z-y-n-e-z Let's start with Soul points upgrade: I prohibited Deathray coils, Master Architect, Guild of merchants, Shield of heroes, Second wind, Pit lord, Soul echoes and Tornado of souls. As heroes concern, i only allowed Veruk, Asra, Oloch, Margosa, Mortemis and Tramin. For Asra, you can only leave tier 1 Spider bite or remove Shield of shadows. Oloch the other hand leave tier 2 Seals of isolation. Now for towers: Infernal mage: Lava Fissure is at only tier 1. Mausoleum: I banned Possession. Bone flingers: Only Got milk is allowed. Elite Harrassers: Only Arrow storm is allowed. Wicked sister: Froggified is banned cus it's the cheapest instakill in the game. Blazing gem: All upgrades are banned cus it's raw damage. Swamp thing: Smash is banned. How was the restriction go?
I know I’m very late, but how did you manage to beat the last level? I always die to the stupid rocket riders because there are no good splash options so my towers get stuck killing the billions of skeletons that spawn from the graveyard and are only able to shoot the flying fucks once they are close to the exit

Nightmare difficulty: only tier one tower, to hero, no powers, enemies can't go further then 5% of the track and also playing without a monitor

I've just completed all the campaign stages on veteran (except for rotten forest, fungal forest, pit of fire, pandemonium and castle blackburn) with this ruleset. This thing is a banger
Without removing shrapnel shot, most strategies involving musket spam just plow through most levels on veteran, with adequate damage rng on the harder stages.
When you said "you have to beat the campaign... Flash style", I got such an ego boost lmao

I think this would be a point for a rule: Don't kill the polymorphed enemies by your own hands
If you can't click the sheep the ability is simply not worth the money, and it can be a difficult rule to follow, as you sometimes act on instinct.

Great challenge, I've tried to for myself. So far, I've managed to beat all campaign levels including their heroic and iron variants with one exception. The last level I just cannot beat on iron despite hours of struggle. The issues are the following: i absolutely have to kill demons before they reach the bottom because they are just gonna combust on my barracks, which leads to the second issue, the lack of aoe damage. So far the shrapnel shot has been the most effective one, but ultimately fails because of the third issue, the armored lane. Despite having sufficiently powerful mage towers on the right, they inevitably target the demons on the other lane. I believe earth elementals would solve the issue, but that is banned unfortunately, perhaps does anyone have any tips for the level?
That one is very difficult, perhaps come back to it later when you are more experienced, I will give you a little hint tho: Barracks

I think it has been already answered, but why is Gerald allowed? I know he's free and everything, but he's like the 4th strongest hero in KR1. Isn't he going to become even more powerful on this difficulty because it encourages heavy use of barracks?
Again, haven't tried this challenge myself yet, hard to evaluate. Under normal circumstances, there's major difference in power level between the remaining heroes, with Gerald and (to a lesser extent) Magnus rising above the others. Maybe both of them should be banned. Then there is a small chance for heroes like Bolin to see some use.
I guess that Malik and King Denas will shine the most then. That's quite nice.
I'd personally allow usage of Ingvar, Thor, Malik, Alleria, Bolin and Denas. This way you still have 3 moderately good melee heroes and 3 ranged (but more situational) heroes.

As you reccomend people war champion, I should reccomend you Voduke with an objective hero list according to which you should ban Gerald instead of Thor and Ingvar
Malik fills the role of Thor, they are very similar in skills, Malik is free so I picked him. Ingvar is banned beacuse I wanted to keep as few paid heroes as possible, he should maybe have been left in there in hindsight, but it is as is right now. Like I said in the video Malik becomes much more relevant, and on some stages performs better than Gerald. I was suprised by this myself, as I had intended to ban Gerald at first. This is beacuse artillery is not spamable anymore, atleast I think that's part of the reason why.
@@C-o-z-y-n-e-z I see the point in disabling Thor - enabling him won't mean too much for the gameplay, however I would argue disabling Ingvar is a bad choice. He was a hard hero to rank for Voduke, because he may either be useless or cheating, therefore his speciffic mechanics may make some stages beatable. Confining the variety of tools makes the game less strategic and more try-hard, I don't know if that's the point of creating this difficult mode.
Yeah I think Ingvar could have been left in there, I can't really remember why I banned him in the first place, I started testing back in february. In a way yes, Champion is meant to play less like a tower defense, you are observing less, and making more active decisions, which you could chose to do before, but here its more required. It's not going to be for eveyone, and not all restrictions are made to serve the balance, some are meant to incourage the more active style of play. I feel like balance restrictions are not that new of an idea, so I made something different, which I enjoy playing.

At some point maybe, but I think I wanna stream it if I do. Right now though I dont' feel like beating it again, it took a while to playtest and also beat from start to finish, so I am fed up with Kingdom Rush right now.
I also don't want to show too much right away, I want people to experience and learn it for themselves, that's part of the fun.

I tried this rule on sarelgaz lair veteran and it took me 40 attempts to win it(i focused to getting sorcerers to clear high armoured enemies early with tesla so i can clear everything much easier and wave 18-20 as well)

I would like to, but it comes down to priority, which is not where it’s at right now. Frontiers would also take a lot more work, beacuse of the more expansive hero system, and I wanna make it better than this.
Played this game occasionally for many years, but since I’m weak and bad and hated challenge, I always played on casual, currently I’m very close to 100% the game on normal, I am NOT ready for this

I got an idea which will make champion mode way too hard.
We should have a tower limit. I mean, lets say i put 1 rangers and then, 1 wanna put 1 more. But there is a tower limit. It says you can only put 1 rangers in this level.

I actually had that idea, but it was with the sorcerer. In one of the early renditions of this you could only buy 1 sorcerer pr. stage, but I felt like it would complicate it too much, and it was annoying because I didn’t wanna have any restrictions on the towers itself. So I ended up banning summon elemental, and then the sniper shot, and the polymorph was already banned, it ended up balancing out the 2 mages pretty well.

Bit confused by precision, ingvar, and thor being banned
Precision is banned just make the game a bit harder thats it. Thor is banned because him and Malik have pretty much the same kit, Thor just has better stats, but I don’t find his abilities as reliable as Maliks, besides Malik is the hero who never gets used, so I went with him.
I cant even beat most levels on "Normal". There is no way is will try these rules anytime soon :)

Yes, but I'm not gonna make a ruleset for Vengeance any time soon, if ever. I don't enjoy the game, so that would be a tedious playtest

Try it on Veteran, I think that will change your perspective. Sorcerers damage spread and armor lowering is so vital in this difficulty, arcane has high single target dps, but the sorcerer deals more damage to multiple targets if it can spread the curse around, however instakills are of course very good in the first kingdom rush. The idea of champion is that the difficulty comes from it being far harder to slow enemies down, so barbarians are not that op beacuse they die so quickly, they deal a lot of damage, and are good for flying enemies and a little stalling. Paladins holds ground for far longer than them, just not as long anymore, against enemies with high dps.

The list of rules is very long, and those are left out to make them simpler to follow. I would not use the sheeping if I couldn't tap them, and I don't know if other people would, Wrath of the Forest tier 1 is interresting, but I prefer to get rid of as much stalling as possible, so barracks have more of a purpose, it almost feels like a new game to me now, if you compare the exploit based gameplay to Champion. Basicly I wanted to make it as hard is I could to stop enemies, so you have more of a reason to use instakills when the time is right, more of a reason to micro of barracks to keep them alive, and manage waves, it all amounts to a more active gameplay experience, where you are making more decisions pr. second.

I prohibited Deathray coils, Master Architect, Guild of merchants, Shield of heroes, Second wind, Pit lord, Soul echoes and Tornado of souls.
As heroes concern, i only allowed Veruk, Asra, Oloch, Margosa, Mortemis and Tramin.
For Asra, you can only leave tier 1 Spider bite or remove Shield of shadows.
Oloch the other hand leave tier 2 Seals of isolation.
Now for towers:
Infernal mage: Lava Fissure is at only tier 1.
Mausoleum: I banned Possession.
Bone flingers: Only Got milk is allowed.
Elite Harrassers: Only Arrow storm is allowed.
Wicked sister: Froggified is banned cus it's the cheapest instakill in the game.
Blazing gem: All upgrades are banned cus it's raw damage.
Swamp thing: Smash is banned.
How was the restriction go?

I know I’m very late, but how did you manage to beat the last level? I always die to the stupid rocket riders because there are no good splash options so my towers get stuck killing the billions of skeletons that spawn from the graveyard and are only able to shoot the flying fucks once they are close to the exit
