    That just shows you the ingenuity of man. We need to get jobs done and then the race began. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. The steam engines were so complex , I’m sure it will take most people in todays age a while to learn everything and how it all works. Super cool hobby.

    What I’d give for one of these. My uncle had a 4” that I was allowed to drive around shows as he got a bit too long in the tooth to manage. Loved it, I just wish I had the funds and was clever enough to do it. For now I just love watching the people’s enthusiasm for their own engines. Brilliant video

    That tiny locomotive moves faster than the full sized ones, and it's towing 100% of it's weight.

    A very good video and tutorial, this. Thank you. I note that the ashpan and grate dropping arrangement is not strictly true to prototype, but it does make perfect sense (for ease of cleaning/fire disposal) in this small size. VERY GOOD, THANK YOU. :-)

    I am new to the steam world and I have a question. I’ve tried to look it up but it seems everyone has a different opinion. I’m going to build a little steam car. What are you using for steam oil. I have a displacement Oiler

    Did they get the steam out of it the same way on the full scale model?
    That was probably very dangerous with all that boiling water coming out, was it ?

    cool but how to get one of these? Also can you use just normal wood as fuel? AAAAAAND is it absolutely crusual to use different oils when oiling?

    • @TheSteamWorkshop
      @TheSteamWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      our website is where they are all for sale. Yes, the larger ones will happily run on wood, (although coal has more heat in it), and yes, you need thick steam oil for the hot cylinders, as the thinner lubricating oil will just get steam cleaned away. www.steamworkshop.co.uk

    I once fired my friend's miniature traction engine on BBQ charcoal. I didn't know the you could use it to start a fire in the firebox.
    I accidentally stoked the fire that he had got going and pressure went up and flywheel went around faster and faster. my friend told me off for doing that.
    it was when he was having trouble finding enough coal for his engine.

    With a total ban on coal even these models wont be able to run.

    • @TheSteamWorkshop
      @TheSteamWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There’s never going to be a total ban on coal, nobody’s ever even suggested that so no need to worry,…… there will always be coal fired steam. 🙂
