- After not scoring seven goals in a top-flight game for 50 years, Chelsea repeated the feat just two months later.
Aston Villa were unbeaten in 11 league games and in the hunt for a top-four place when they arrived at the Bridge and after conceding the opener to Lampard after 15 minutes, they looked to be right in the game when John Carew equalised just before the half-hour.
However, Lampard restored our lead with a penalty just before half-time and got two more in the second half for his second four-goal performance for the Blues, while Malouda netted twice and Kalou bagged another to seal a stunning 7-1 win.

@@zain7241Wigan 8-0 was fake along with the 7-0 vs Stoke also in the last 3 games because the PL was trying to disguise Chelsea as worthy winners after they needed to cheat ManUtd home&away to climb above them and ManUtd had all the claims of being the best team that season so those emphatic scorelines overshadowed that.
Even this 7-1 was dodgy for the whole first half which you wouldn't expect if you just read the scoreline.
Just look up these games on Google bbc or whatever...

There were plenty of others but that's a lot of points Chelsea gained on ManUtd that they shouldn't have.

ManUtd conceded the fewest goals
ManUtd had biggest aggregate PL score (0-5 & 5-0 vs Wigan=10-0, Chelsea's best aggregate was +8)
ManUtd no fewer wins by 2 or more
ManUtd more away wins by 2 or more
ManUtd more away wins by 3 or more
ManUtd more away wins by 4 or more
ManUtd & Chelsea both one 0-5 win each and no better, but ManUtd's was against a team that beat Chelsea in the same fixture where as Chelsea's wasn't.
ManUtd (despite being cheated home&away by Chelsea) still did the best against the top 5 & top6 teams you could even count Villa despite this result.

The good old times
Chelsea enjoyed a great season with a very offensive squad. It won them the league. But unfortunately for them Offense alone does not win cup competitions (though they did win the FA cup too). Winning the champions league requires defence as most important thing. Which won them 2 CL trophies.

This was back when Chelsea was a really really big deal. Honestly, the best team in the world.. excluding Barca.
No Chelsea weren't the best team in the World, Europe, Britain or even England at this sort of time. They've never been the best in Europe despite them fluking CL later down the line whilst being nowhere near the best team in England. When they did win CL they also became first CL winners to be eliminated first round and got thrashed in SuperCup by EuropaLeague winners 4-1 proving even more how dodgy they were to win CL in the first place.
ManUtd were by far the best team in Britain 5 straight seasons 2006/07 to 2010/11, always in the Top2 in Europe same time period, THE best in the World 2008 and still hold the unbeaten ChampionsLeague game record which has stood for 15 years and counting.

Chelsea have enjoyed a very big squad with Anelka, Kalou, D. Sturridge and Drogba in attack , J. Cole , Ballack , Lampard , Malouda , Mikel , Deco, Essien, Matic in midfield. Then: Ferreira, Ivanovic , Alex Bosingwa , Terry , Zhivkov and Ashley Cole in def.
And yet still weren't the best team.

The PL desperately wanted to avoid same champion 4 times in a row in 2009/10 favoured Chelsea all season if ManUtd get HALF the help Chelsea got they break a PL points winning margin record. Yet Chelsea still lost the title but for fact it was the first year ManUtd could overtake Liverpool on overall league title's and Chelsea got Liverpool penultimate game where Liverpool wanted to lose hence Gerrard's deliberate backpass to Drogba at 0-0 as he panicked that Chelsea had created nothing in the first 32mins. Liverpool home fans applauded it=fixed season.

I was 15 when this match happened... I'm still mad that Abramovich fired Carlo
He only won the PL that season because the PL didn't want the same champion 4 times in a row and it was also the first season ManUtd could overtake Liverpool on overall league title's and Chelsea got to play Liverpool at Anfield on penultimate game Chelsea needed to win and Liverpool needed to lose to prevent ManUtd overtaking Liverpool's tally hence Gerrard deliberate backpass to Drogba as he panicked Chelsea had created nothing, the home fans applauded it.
If it wasn't for that and easy cup draws and a ridiculous amount of refereeing decisions in both season's Carlo was Chelsea's manager, he would've won nothing with them in those 2 years and he did only win 2 trophies out of 8+competitions and how much spent, so long term he wouldn't have delivered them what they were looking for.
