How to Transform Wigs with Heat Styling | Chiquel Wigs

  • Drive by Ellen Wille is one of the most popular wigs on the market, but there are a couple complaints I always get about it. People often wish it had a full monofilament top and they also wish it didn’t tangle and clumps easily with its heat friendly fibers. That’s why I’m here to show you an alternative and show you how to make it look almost identical to Drive.

    Another great video. Thank you! I wear mostly long, because I had long hair for the past 25 years, but you just sold me on Drive! Just ordered it. I only shy away from HF fibers on long wavy wigs, when they’re straight so easy to keep up. Very excited hopefully I will be brave enough to wear Drive out of the house!

    Me: 🤔 what one of my McQueens would look like without the little flips? Loving the lob/bob style. I would do bad things for an Alpha Blend that had an ear to ear lace front and a hand tied cap 😆 Thanks for the tips! I do own a steamer and have used it for parts. My flat iron is still in the box 😬 I’ve been on the look out for a hot comb brush that looks easy to use, yours does 🥰

    • @chiquelwigs
      @chiquelwigs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m a petite head so I would say you can make it work! It fits true to average and I need to bring the adjusters in. There is also a bit of extra bulk in the cap, so it’s really about your comfort level and how much bulk you’re willing to accept 🥰

    Have you ever plucked the hairline of a lace front? I’ve got this wig I love from Belle Tress. It’s fully hand tied, but the lace front is too perfect. I’ve been scared to pluck it. Could you demo that?

    the fibers will still be coming in contact with direct heat with that brush thing. i've successfully straightened regular synthetic fiber with a flat iron and a fine tooth comb without damaging the fiber. it's all about a low temp and moving quickly. i use wig conditioner spray or a little bit of silicone as a buffer as opposed to water. back in the day people dunked wigs in boiling water and gravity made em straight.

    • @chiquelwigs
      @chiquelwigs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, Denim! ❤️I’ve also used a hair straightener at low temps! I just prefer this way since it isn’t squishing it together and I feel safer recommending this way. 🥰and absolutely! Moving fast with low temps is the key!🔑 thanks for your feedback!

      😳 Boiling water!? I’ll have to ask my mom about that. She wore wigs in the 60’s - 70’s & 80’s. Come to think of it, I’m wondering what “day” is it that you speak of? Most of hers and my aunties were beehive and or some style with curls ☺ We’re old 🤣

      @@sandyfishgirl i think drag queens still do it. the temp at which water boils doesn't harm the fiber. not sure what they did back in the 50s.

    Is madison a face flopper like drive is? Can you show how you would fix this issue

    • @chiquelwigs
      @chiquelwigs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Madison is not as much of a face flopper as drive, but is a bit when you get her out of the box. Check out my steaming video that I’ve linked the the description of this video! That can show you how to get it off your face. ❤️you could even spray with water, clip the fibers straight back, and blow dry at the root, being careful not to linger in one spot for too long. Let it cool in place for about 10 mins and then take out the clips. ❤

    • @sandyfishgirl
      @sandyfishgirl หลายเดือนก่อน

      My first wig was much longer and thicker than my bio BUT love her just the same, or should I say those are the reasons WHY I love her. And guess what?! She’s an FF 🤪 face flopper 🤷🏻‍♀One of my dear friends and one of my SIL both have long and thick hair. I didn’t pay attention to THEIR flops until I had my own 😝 When I ask, “How to you stop the FF?” The response was laughter, then - - wait for it - - A PONY TAIL 😳 WHAT!? 🤣 My solution is to use clips or pins when I’ll be doing something (like bending over or eating 🫣) that the flop will be a nuisance. Otherwise, I embrace the long gorgeous hair that I could never grow, FF and all 🥰

    How would a hot comb work?

    • @chiquelwigs
      @chiquelwigs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use it to redirect the hair, in the front or at the part. You could also use it to straighten this out making sure to use a low temp. But also making sure to pull the fibers straight so they cool straight. ❤

    I'm allergic to the scent of synthetic wigs. My eyes get really puffy and my eyes hurt terribly. I don't know what to do.

    • @extensionofdenim
      @extensionofdenim หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      synthetic fiber doesn't have a scent, you might be allergic to the scent of the silicone they put on the fibers. you can try washing the wig before wearing it 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @sueburdett8066
      @sueburdett8066 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you own multiple wigs by multiple manufacturers? If that is the case, then you may actually be allergic. Some people are. If you only have one wig, try wasing the wig and see if the problem continues. If so, you may need to try other wigs from different manufacturers. If the problem remains, you mayhave to go with human hair.

      You might in fact be allergic to the fiber. I developed an allergy to Rene of Paris wigs, and would break out in contact dermatitis wherever the fiber touched my skin. I wore bangs and my eyes were inflamed. My neck was inflamed where the ends touched my neck. I didn't have issues with other brands.

      It is a bit shinier since it is synthetic.
