Did Todd Just Tell Me To Be Quiet?!?! 😂😂

  • When Todd and I woke up this morning, I went upstairs to prepare for work. I said my usual Hello to Todd and sometimes he said Hello back. This morning he told me Hello Noise which I interpreted to you’re talking too loud, be quiet or shut up. Lol, I think he may have felt bad about it afterward as he then tells me Hello and Love You Yes.
    Todd is a 7-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 56 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you would like to see more of Todd and his day-to-day life please visit his Facebook page.

      This is definitely another possibility; cats' hearing is far and beyond what humans can even imagine. It might be from outside the house, but could also be inside the house and just inaudible to human hearing.

    Cats are fairly good at planning, too! My longhaired cat hated Petromalt, the salve that helps with hairballs. My shorthaired cat adored the stuff! I would have to catch the cat that needed it and smear it on his paw so he would lick it off, and ingest it. My shorthair would beg for it. One day, I dosed Taffy, who loved it, and after she had gotten her bit, she dashed off for the front hallway. Then I caught Phantom and smeared it on his paw. He took off running for the front hallway. Suspicious, I followed him. She was sitting there waiting for him to arrive. He sat, stuck out his paw and she licked it clean!! He didn't have to take the stuff, and she got two helpings! They had obviously planned this in advance! They knew I wouldn't approve, so they hid their little exchange from my view! I don't know how often they had done this before, but I put a stop to it.

    I'm not convinced he's telling you to shut up.
    I think he's trying to refer to a noise he heard earlier, but he just doesn't have the vocabulary to describe/identify it. You can see him frantically looking around at the buttons for a moment after you start answering him. This is where I think an "outside" button would be really helpful. Something to give Todd a way of identifying space outside the house.

      Noise can be a loud sound and/or an annoying sound. It can also be a request to be quiet. Maybe Todd realized or even confirmed one of those and then wanted to assure you he didn’t want you to be quiet.

    Maybe, instead of "Hello" "Noise" meaning "Be quiet", what Todd is saying is "Oh! 'Hello' is a sound!". He's exploring the concept that your greeting is audible.. Or perhaps he is saying "I hear you". There's a difference between the concept of 'noise' and 'sound'. Perhaps he's exploring that. Are cats capable of abstract thought? Good question to ponder.

    I think he needs a button that says "talk to me". He might be saying he likes your morning "noise" (conversation) and is asking for more of it. Great job with the kitters! It's hugely beneficial for pet owners and so called animal science and "experts" to see how intelligent animals can be. Animal intelligence has been massively underestimated and under rated. Pets to Todd!

    Todd was looking down the hallway a lot before he said noise. Maybe he was hearing something else. He could also be naming noises that he hears in the background.

    I think Todd’s hungover this morning 🤣 Like a few others have said, I think he perhaps heard something outside and didn’t know how to explain. He might still be a bit jumpy after all the fireworks on the 4th.
    “Love you, yes” made me go awe… he’s such a sweet cat ❤

    I agree I think he was trying to understand the difference between morning noise which would be hello noise vs other times of the day. If he said goodbye hello that would have meant that he wasn't wanting to talk. You should give him morning button and a night button so he can tell times of the day.

  • @oroontheheels

  • @Riateph
    @Riateph 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I think he was identifying (or trying to communicate) the concept of a greeting. As in "that's the hello noise". He hears it from you a lot, so maybe he's trying to acknowledge that it too is a noise, but specifically the hello noise.
