I'd forget the batterys. Solid concrete blocks work well. A small rubber mat or kitchen carpet scrap will make the noise less and keep the blocks from banging around. Can you weld an angle brace to each side to stiffen up the hitch(and aerator). Good welder. Fun to watch.
Your challenge with this style aerator is going to be the wheels. They are designed for moving it without any added weight. If you move it much with weight on it and the wheels down they will not handle it well. And this aerator requires as much weight as you can add.
