    Since the foot rest has a raisable lid the underside of the upholstery should be finished too. Fold back the edges of the flowered print cloth then attach a contrasting or a complimentary piece of cloth over the bare wood. You could have painted the wood before doing the upholstery. I always look at the bottom of pieces I know have been altered. I prefer to put felt on the bottoms, and legs of items. It is a nice touch. When it comes to adding a new aspect, it doesn't make sense to me to add distressing. The rooster looks new but what it is attached to looks old. Same with the foot rest. Also, scuff sanding would be the best thing to do before painting.
    I like the products used and I like the design ideas as well as the idea of keeping things out of landfills.

    Wobbly leg can be fixed by placing a toothpick or two in the hole along with the glue. Beautiful projects!

    I agree with you about taking off old fabric before you put on the new. It just seems like it would be cleaner that way

    • @theeclecticcottagespokane

      I always worry about old fabric, so I tend to always remove it. Sometimes my husband gets volunteered for that chore though! :)

    Once again everything was beautiful. But I’m partial to anything chicken or rooster since I’ve collected them for years. Love all the chicken and rooster things you do!! The plant stand was a really good idea and came out amazing, and so did the sewing footstool. The yellow fabric is pretty, but I can’t wait to see you use the cute chicken fabric on something!! Go figure. Lol.

    I wondered across your videos and have watched you a couple of times. I think your designs are nice but I’m curious why you don’t finish the underside of things particularly the stool you reupholstered? Since that stool opens for storage it would look much nicer if it’s finished off a little more whether you simply paint it first then turn under all of the raw edges of fabric before stapling or cover the underside after stapling with felt/fabric/scrapbook paper anything to make it look more finished would be very nice.

    • @theeclecticcottagespokane
      @theeclecticcottagespokane  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I didn't perfect the underside of the stool top because it doesn't open wide enough that anyone will ever see it. If it did I would have done things a little differently. :) Thank you for your feedback, though! And thank you for watching!!

    They are all super cute but I do really like the white table as well. What does the waxing do for the wood and the paint?

    • @theeclecticcottagespokane
      @theeclecticcottagespokane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Waxing seals the paint and protects the wood. Mineral based paints are usually pretty porous and can be reactivated if they get wet, so they need to be sealed.....I like the look and feel of wax so it is my preferred finish, although other topcoats would work too.

      @@nancychannel8513 I used Gorilla Glue construction adhesive.

    Why not finish the fabrics to a nice finish?

    • @theeclecticcottagespokane
      @theeclecticcottagespokane  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did end up going in and folding the sides and front parts of the fabric under and gluing it to make the edges a little more complete. :)
