Yes he moved on, he loved to joke, to laugh,to amuse himself,to practise sport above all he liked to read and to sound his soul and find answers to his inquisitive mind. I agree with the majority of what you said, but I don't agree from all the different books I've read that he was so depressed bored and lonely in his last years. I do agree he was in a bit of a rut but he was also looking so forward to a new tour coming and making major changes including getting rid of the colonel. I think he loved his mother just like everybody else. But I think through being married, then a divorce and having Lisa Marie his mother was in the back of his mind but not as depressing as so many make it sound like. I think he got past that like most grown adults.

Those days people didn’t appreciate such a great artist. He was born gifted. They looked down on him, hid their daughters and they were worried that their sons would be corrupted by him. His mother must’ve been heart broken when Elvis’s twin brother died. He absolutely loved his mother who paved the way to his future where some his fans weren’t even born. I’ve never seen a famous person who showed the world how much he loved his or her mother. Elvis openly kissed his mother, held her hand and he showed the world the value of a mother. No other woman was able to give him the love and the encouragement his mother gave him. He was obviously grateful to his mother for buying that guitar for him. Perhaps she wanted to protect him! Keep him indoors where she could keep an eye on him. Perhaps she foresaw his future, lured him into singing, to use that unique voice he was born with. May be this was why Elvis couldn’t truly find love in any other woman. He wanted someone like his mother, for him to come home to. Find her indoors, wearing an apron, hair in curlers, getting his dinner ready, clean his shoes, launder his clothes etc., etc., those million other chores a “Mum” does. I wish he was happy and not so miserable all the time. He smiled, he knew he had a great smile, good looks and charm to tempt all the women, but no one was able to take the place of his mother in his kingdom. I sighed.

His mama worried herself to death over Elvis, she could see where the world was taking him and it was not the direction she had planned. Gladys only ever wanted her son to be happy she forsaw the dangers he didn't. When Elvis was in hospital in 75, his daddy too was admitted, his daddy told him he was worrying him to death just as he had his mama, Elvis sobbed uncontrollably. He loved his daddy even though they had not always seen eye to eye. Gladys too had many health problems, clearly obvious in some of these photos. Had Gladys lived Elvis,s life may have been different.
