- In Game Two of the 2009 ALDS, Minnesota took a 3-1 lead into the Bottom of the Ninth, but Joe Nathan couldn't bring home the save and gave up a two-run home run to Alex Rodriguez. Then in the 11th, Joe Mauer's would-be double down the left field line was wrongly ruled foul, and despite three more hits in the inning, the Twins didn't score. That set up Mark Teixera for a game-winning homer in the bottom of the frame, and another October heartbreak for Minnesota.
My favorite thing about that Joe Mauer play was how casually Ron Darling said it was a fair ball.
I remember I left my freshman year 6-9pm Friday history 101 class to stand outside in the cold Boise night and listen to Sterling’s call of this.
This, game 162 in 2011, & the Ibanez homers against the O’s are the most hyped moments I’ve experienced as a Yankees fan for whatever reason.
I was a freshman at the time too bro! And I went to that game Ibanez pinch hit and got two homers
@@alecreeves4082 I’m jealous
Chip Caray + Ron Darling made for a quality broadcast.
46:53 overshadowed BIG play for this game
I was at this game. Simply incredible atmosphere!
Damn I’m jealous
Yep, umpire saying one pop fly didn't land fair was why the twins got swept by the yankees again. Mauer reached base anyway. LOL what a game. Tex never ran faster around the bases.
240p quality? might as well just uploaded the radio broadcast. can't even see the ball clearly.
simply no way that call was an unintentional miss. and so emphatically. mind boggling
Joe Nathan in his prime was so damn good.
When I saw this video on my frontpage I had to laugh. 2009 ALDS Game 2, underneath it is the name of the uploader, Classic Twins.
As in, "Twins blow an extra inning lead and lose to the Yankees again, classic Twins." Amirite?
2:37:12 thanks blue. 👍🏻
I don’t understand why the announcer said “he’s done it again” when A Rod hit that homerun to tie the game in the 9th. Up until that point Yankees fans have been waiting for 5 years for A rod to deliver a big hit like that. And that was the one that started his ultimate clutch 09 run.
During that season dumbass.
I think because he tied it with a single in the bottom of the 6th? Either way this announcer was known for making some strange calls
Plays I like to watch:
13:37 - 28:52
40:58 - 1:42:01
2:00:06 - 3:28:23
this should have been one of brendan harris highlights 2:20:00
A-Rod had the best postseason of his life plus World series vs philly the only game A-Rod was not needed it lol Matzuie massacre vs philly
3:00:10 Gardner Pinch Run
3:13:09 Blown call by Phil Cuzzi and took the ground rule double away.
Anybody figure out who that whistler is? Soooooo annoying!
