For anyone wondering why I bothered reviewing a copy/pasta nothingburger like this - I try to produce reviews of all new vehicles (ESPECIALLY event prizes) when they come out (or at least, as many as I can) even if they're unimpressive or not exciting. They get trash for views, but someone might see this plane on the marketplace a month from now and want to know what its deal is before making a purchase decision.
Really useful for me! I like collecting gimmick weapons like the infinity stones, though this one might be a pass from me now after seeing the Hs 239s speed lol
@@0Ploxx Its not that the missile is slow, its that the He-177 is fast. In actual live matches, speed is life, so you put yourself at INCREDIBLE risk if you slow down to like 250kmh to launch the thing and get a better visual of it out in front of you. As odd as this is going to sound - using the rocket anti-ship missile in the Rank 2 Japanese bomber that was added earlier this year was actually easier, just because the plane itself was much slower.
Gaijin gave the Rooivalk a cockpit?? The most random and obeslete helicopter gets a cockpit and HMD sight but gaijin can’t aleast model a Copy and paste B17 cockpit
@@user-cs3qh1uv5y something about ww2 bombers makes gaijin alergic to updating its inside. we can have all aircraft, ships, tanks, meticulously modeled from the exterior to interior even if it's NGAD but bomber cockpit will always be in its roblox shape
For me, pretty much all MCLOS missiles launched from planes are difficult as hell to use on anything other than static targets. These early ones are just even more sluggish and unresponsive when compared to the late cold war missiles you get in the tech tree.
Lokking forward getting this as a reward. The He 177 is one of the better strategic bombers in the game, so always good to have an extra one. Plus, has an interesting look
Thank you for the inclusion of the knot and mph conversions when discussing landing performance Tim, I personally use feet and knots because that's what used IRL and it is a nice reference for me.
I haven't unlocked it yet, but in test flights I found the missile easiest to use by flying directly at the target and then swapping to the first person HUD view. Not the cockpit view. I'm talking about the one where you're basically just a camera flying through space. That cuts down on parallax a lot and then you just need to pitch the missile up into your field of view and then align it with the target.
Thats what I was originally doing (same method I used in the rank 2 Japanese bomber with a missile), but the problem is that you end up needing to dive towards the target to keep it in view, which eventually results in redlining your airspeed even with throttle set to 0. Curse of having a fast bomber.
It's really weird how they give out event vehicles / premiums with placeholder cockpits. It's like you buy a car and the interior is missing a seat / a radio. You're buying an unfinished product.
@@Soccera0 I dont remember the exact dimensions, somewhere in the high 30s or low 40s, in native 1440p/2k res. I render my vids in 4k though. I upgraded from my old one (which was trash, by comparison) about 18 months ago and its made a huge difference.

Actually, it can take out four bases if you decide to carry the 250 kg firebombs, I found that at 6.0, three fire bombs should be sufficient to take out one base, and seeing that the 177 can carry 12, four should be achievable, if you can survive that long
Sometimes in downtier you can kill base with 1 x1800 or 2x250 firebombs, so you can destroy 8 bases. Only issue is to survive that long you have to space climb and when bombing from space you can miss the base
Mainly Great War & early interwar dreadnought battleships, but anything past 1930 can & will shoot down a large aircraft with a large quantity of HAA if the player is paying attention to aerial threats, especially if they're armed with HE-VT ammunition. Or you unlikely like me recently with a Ki-148 in a Ciclone class TB..
I suck at using any MCLOS weapon, but shooting at something as big as a ship is pretty much the one thing I can accomplish lol. Ground targets in GroundRB? I'm not even gonna bother lol
I know you focus mainly on aircraft , but are there any plans to do the same kind of reviews for ground units/helicopter/naval vessels? You way of bringing history first makes all your videos extremely interesting
I've never done the BP trade coupon thing but I think I'm going to do that and enjoy spading the tech tree one since it sounds like the fritz x is better than the new missile actually
This is an amazing reward for those of us who play war thunder for bombers. It's the first bomber of it's class since the Avro Shackleton so this is great. An absolute annoyance that it's level 75 and they still have not given the bombers like the He-177 a cockpit. I have seen that placeholder cockpit message since 2013/14.
It's neat. :) And it's always good to see time-locked vehicles be the same or very similar to permanent tree/premium ones; the less unique stuff is locked away after an event, the better.
They really put in a previous variant of an existing bomber with a single gimmick weapon as the top reward of a battle pass. I remember when I was so excited about the potential of this system...
Good. Time-locked content sucks, so the fewer "unique" event/BP things get added, the better. What would be far better is to stop adding _new_ vehicles in the BP entirely, and instead have the BP give access to already-added unobtainable vehicles.
@@BleedingUranium But they'll never do that, not for the ones everyone wants. Those make too much money on the marketplace. They'll only continue doing this same shit again. Two crap vehicles, and a random vehicle from a previous pass, which will give you next to nothing if you already have it.
I love trying to hit so targets in test flights with Ki-48 from time to time and god does it take depth perception to even hit a ship. I think MCLOS munitions can get a control set up rework because well they were guided with joysticks mostly and i do not think the current control represent that any good(if you do not use a joystick for them of course)
The Friz X is really fun in Naval, with a good hit you can even one shot Battleships, i gues Hs293 would be more fun there too. Problem is you have to spend quiet a while climbing after spawn to reach a drop altitude where you dont get instantly shredded by 300 or so combined AA mounts (i guess all these people calling CAS to weak are Naval players).
The problem for me with the Hs-293 in naval (I did try to use it about half a dozen times) was that I couldn't keep my distance outside of the invincible AAA porcupine wall and still be able to tell where the missile was to steer it - especially judging the altitude above the water. I had at least 3 shots that hit the water like 100m from the ship I was trying to hit.
@@TimsVariety Yeah thats a big problem. Its realy a shame that the unique feature of the vehicle is something most people will likely avoid, instead of something the actually fun to use in a unique way.
Could you please make a guide about controls and settings with short explanation what does what exactly in game and when you need it? To me as a new player it's all pretty confusing like for example I see people having free camera controls everywhere on TH-cam and I do not know how to do that myself.
Hey tim, appreciate the vid, been wondering if it was going to be worth the grind or not. Any chance we can get a vid for the new Kfir C.10 before everyone gets it? I don't know if people in the creator program get it early or not
