Funny personal story I have with Steven Adams. Kind of a long one but you’ll enjoy it, I promise.
I’ve lived in OKC my entire life, and have been a Thunder fan since the franchise moved from Seattle. Adams was a family favorite of ours, and when my brother got married I wanted to get him and my sister in law a gift that actually meant something. So I went to a Thunder game with an Adams jersey, and I ran down to court side the second they opened the doors. After Steven was done with his shoot around he walked towards the tunnels and stopped to sign autographs, there was probably 50 people there waiting, and he signed and took pictures with people and especially all the kids. He would chat and was just being sweet, super nice, and a genuine guy. Well after waiting a bit, it seemed I wasn’t going to get my jersey signed. he had skipped over me to sign for my of the children, I wasn’t mad about that at all but figured I had to try one last time to get is autograph. He started down the tunnel to the locker room, giving waves goodbye and I yelled out “Wait Steven! Please sign this jersey for my brothers wedding present, you are our favorite!”
He stopped, turned around with a smile and said “what did you say?” I repeated myself and he took the jersey from my hand and signed it, laughing as he did so. As he handed it back to me, he said “Should have got him a better present, mate” gave me a Pat on the shoulder, and walked to the locker room. I got the jersey framed and gave it to my brother the night before his wedding, and shared the story with him. Now, it’s hanging in his living room, and my brother tells that story anytime someone asks about that Steven Adams jersey.
Steven is a real class act, an awesome competitor, an incredible athlete with some of the best work ethic In the league. He may not fill the stat sheet every night, but he leaves his effect on the game his own way, fighting for every rebound, setting the hardest screens in the NBA, and just being a fighter every single game. That is why he is a fan favorite, and always will be in OKC. I’ll root for Steven no matter where he goes in the future, and want nothing but the best for him.

same. not saying it was easy on them but i was stuck in my home for three ish months and while its nice, it sure aint no resort. no swimming pool or other things for me to do/relax mentally. living off of mostly canned and long lasting food (ramen) while literally not making a single cent for the first six months of 2020.
these players live a different life and we cant expect everyone to view things the same way but at some point its too much. if they said "obviously its not easy not seeing ur family, but it could be worse, like we r at a resort" then i can accept the moaning/negativity toward things.
like i havent seen my family in three years cuz of covid and i aint crying about it, but these dudes were constantly complaining and its like, shut the hell up. and im usually one to defend these guys and how they spend their money (cuz u know, its theirs and not ours) or how they view things cuz we simply dont live the same life. but yeah, their attitude in the bubble was just too much.

When he first moved to OKC after the draft, he lived right across the street from my grandparents in Edmond. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but being neighbors he and they crossed paths a few times. He was a big kid, like I think he’s just under a month older than me, but was super humble and polite with my grandparents. I know he came over for dinner with them a few times, and my grandmother spoke so highly of him. They were instant Thunder fans watching every game to root for their new grandson. I’ve got the craziest pic saved in like 5 different places so I’ll never lose it of Steven standing next to Grammy who is at best 5’5” wearing his jersey. Once he got his first extension and pay bump he moved to a nicer neighborhood, but let them know and said goodbye. 1000% class act. Idc what team he plays for, to make time for a couple nearly 90yr olds who know nothing about basketball is just plain awesome. Much love Steven

For those who are interested, fermented egg in TW generally is made with duck egg. The yolk is what turn off most people because it's got quite a distinct and strong smell to it.

Guys Steven Adams is definitely downplaying a lot of it which something us New Zealanders/Australians have a habit of doing. He went to high school and worked hard to keep up with schoolwork and went to training before and after school hours along with juggling homework/extra tutoring with no biological parents left to look after him
