The highest tribute that could be given to Vin here on Earth was the sight in my youth of thousands of fans (me included) in Dodger Stadium with their transistor radios in hand so we could hear Vin Scully describe what we were seeing with our own eyes. The pictures that Vin painted with his words were so superior to what our eyes could see. You will be missed dearest Vin, but I take consolation that you are now in your rightful place in the presence of the Big Dodger In The Sky which you so rightly earned through a great life you lived. I will keep you alive in my memories, My Friend, for all the days of my life.
Pure genius. How can you talk about...well...a game, in such a way that millions of people are entranced? Totally engaged? That's Vin Scully. He did it. We've missed you, and Rest in Peace.
Thank you Mr Vin Scully. It is the humanity and our Father within you that made such an impact in my life thank you again. As with millions of people that have listened to Dodgers broadcasts it wasn't honor to share your life. And many blessings to his family.
In the last 4 days we have lost two titans. Bill Russell and Vin Scully. Hard to find men today that carry themselves with such character and class. Sad day in deed .
Thank you Vin for making my childhood, my dad’s childhood, and my grandfather’s childhood. You were apart of our family. You were the Greatest of all time. 💙
🌟⚾💙🌟💙⚾💙🌟💙💙⚾💙💙⚾ Dodgers awesome job guys !!!!! Were going to the world series Vin scully. We miss you We miss you We miss you 💙🌟⚾🌟💙🌟⚾💙🌟⚾🌟💙 i was born and raised in Long Beach, california Now I live in cypress 🌟🌟💙⚾⚾💙🌟💙🌟
I cried when he retired since he always felt like an old friend but I am very very happy he got to spend 5 years uninterrupted by baseball with his wife. God bless Vin
Simply the greatest. I remember his calling Kofax's perfect game. However his greatest moment was calling Hank Aaron's record breaking home run. He showed class, dignity, and respect to that momentous HR. It is worth a view on TH-cam. Thank you Mr. Scully. I have listed to you since 1962.
Natural treasure is sometimes overused, but not in this case. Not just a voice, a storyteller, a person who paints memories for where one was or is, but a person of the highest decency. We are strive to be living like Vin.
Are you kidding? I got teary-eyed at the end of this video when Vin acknowledged that he doesn't have but a few years left on Earth. And I was at Dodger Stadium for Vin Scully Day, which was his next-to-last game at Dodger Stadium. In his last game at Dodger Stadium, Charlie Culberson hit a walk-off HR for the Dodgers. Then he broadcast the Dodgers' last series of the season from SF, when he gave his fond farewell.
As a 67 y.o. lifelong SF Giants fan I have always felt nothing but love and respect for Vin Scully. Our four of the very best in baseball announcers stand on this man's broad shoulders.
I still recall somewhat many of his calls. Final game of the 1965 season, Dodgers at home vs. the Milwaukee Braves. October 3rd, "Okay, now everyone easing up on the edge of their seat, Doug Harvey settling down behind the catcher Rosboro at the plate, pitcher into his windup ... and comes to the plate. There's a high fly, but catchable, toward left field. Sweet Lou Johnson in ... under it, has it and pulls his glove to his chest." The huge cacophony of wild cheers all being heard for the longest time on the transistor radio was all that was heard. Then, "The Dodgers are celebrating on the field and the fans are celebrating the Dodgers!" More crowd noise. "Well everybody we'll have more from Jerry Doggett s bit later as he's making his way to the clubhouse. But for now, we're on our way to Minnesota where we'll see you for the first game of the World Series."
Vin Scully worked at CBS Radio and TV Sports from 1975-1982. He was only on CBS Radio Sports from 1990-1997 doing baseball and the World Series. From January to March 1973, he hosted the daytime Vin Scully show on CBS.
Two of the best that ever painted the picture of baseball for fans that couldn't be in attendance........Vin Scully (the L.A. Dodgers) and Ernie Harwell (the Detroit Tigers)!!
I was born same year Dodgers moved to LA. Scully was one of the few constants in my life. Nobody mastered the art of describing baseball on the radio better. In his last few seasons he only did TV, which was a waste of his talent.
Wonderful story. It always struck me that as a lifelong Brooklynite that Mr. Scully, from New York and got his start at Ebbets Field, sound so much like Southern California. Smooth and calm. He is one of the great storytellers of part of American history.
I remember him talking about that Babe Ruth card during a game I'm glad he found it it probably gonna cost a lot now! two legends and an amazing story. We'll miss you Vin.
In 1950, Vin Scully called a preseason game where the opposition was managed by Connie Mack, who began his career in 1886 as a player for the Washington Senators. Combined, both of their careers totaled 130 years, spanning the vast majority of the history of the sport.
He had such an interesting 🤔 & listenable voice & a great story teller. I would have listened to him describing a wall being painted. He'd would have made it fit for listening.
The title to this clip is wrong. Should read “Vin Sculley, treasure of baseball”. So, so great. Grew up and still am a Tiger fan so I am a Ernie Harwell guy but Vin Sculley is the amongst the best ever.
@@dodgersfan8598 Well it seems like he clearly remembers the day he got it and not many people can say they got to meet the GOAT. So I bet the sentimental value is priceless. Money wise though, that's hard to say. It's definitely worth something because it's Babe Ruth. But at the same time, I've heard Vin Scully tell that story before in another video and it sounded like Babe Ruth was handing out one of those cards to anyone that asked. So the price would be lowered if a lot of people had them. I haven't seen any though. So again, that's hard to say. I'm really curious to see what it would go for though...
The trademark of a great sportscaster is when to talk....and when not to and let the images and sounds tell the story. VIn Scully had that trademark in spades...
A true National Treasure. Vin Scully was the soundtrack of my youth as a boy growing up in Long Beach, CA bleeding Dodger Blue. Go Dodgers! Thanks Lee!
I'll keep sayin it till it happens. The Dodgers announcer booth needs to be, should be, better be, named the Vin Scully booth. His voice is immediately recognized. Part of my youth as many have said already. I can still hear him on the KTLA commercials for Starter Bros in the early-mid 90s. A true TREASURE. The greatest that will ever be. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM. Orel and the other guy do a great job. But they are not Vin.
Vince, I think it's time to move on, robert's does'nt have it, who do you think has the killer instinct to get us a championship, I've been a dodger fan since 1962, the great days of baseball
So classic. Talented entertainers who understood their craft and its purpose. No virtue signaling, no kneeling, no advocating for communist traitors. Just the national pasttime as its supposed to be.
Nice trubute, but my guys were the Angels Buddy Blattner and Don Welles. Prefer two broadcasters working together, as Kruk and Kuip. Wonder why he chose to work single mic, but teamed on the air with Russ Hodges in N.Y.

I’m a Giants fan, but Vin was so much the voice of baseball. I will really miss him. ❤️
He's gone, but never...never forgotten. R.I.P. Vin and thanks for everything.
Humility in the hands of greatness is underrated ... undervvalued ... and underwatched. Vinny forever.

It's Vin Scully and everybody else. Nobody is perfect, but Vin Scully is pretty close to it.
He passed away today, (august 2nd) at age 94
NY Boy. Fordham Grad. He never forgot where he came from.
Golden Age of Los Angeles Announcers: Vin, Chick, Ralph & Bob. What a great time to have been an LA fan!

Dont forget Jon Miller
How I envy Dodger fans, who had 67 years of his steady voice to help quiet all of life's losses.
I was born same year Dodgers moved to LA. Scully was one of the few constants in my life. Nobody mastered the art of describing baseball on the radio better. In his last few seasons he only did TV, which was a waste of his talent.

Grew up in Los Angeles...Scully was the voice of baseball. Always stellar and composed. Thank you for the years sir.
He should be the narrator at the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. That’s definitely one thing to put on your bucket list.
Wonderful story. It always struck me that as a lifelong Brooklynite that Mr. Scully, from New York and got his start at Ebbets Field, sound so much like Southern California. Smooth and calm. He is one of the great storytellers of part of American history.

I love Vin Scully and I'm a NY Mets fan.
The first time I heard him when he called Hank Arron 715 Homer that broke Babe Ruth record.
He is simply the best. Hearing his voice makes me want to get two Dodger Dog and a beer. So many great memories at Dodger Stadium with Vin.
If only all of us could emulate his humble approach to life.
The title to this clip is wrong. Should read “Vin Sculley, treasure of baseball”. So, so great. Grew up and still am a Tiger fan so I am a Ernie Harwell guy but Vin Sculley is the amongst the best ever.
The best broadcaster ever.
Damn. He's still got it...
Back when I still was able to LOVE sports.....there was baseball. Thank's VS. Love you always.
Wow, He has accepted and is ready to die.
A towering figure and true legend. What a great and truly humble man. I hope he makes a billion on his auction for this family and for charity.
wow what a life he has had . only one we can dream of.
Vin Scully and Chick Hearn. The voices of Los Angeles Sports...
"Hey Grandpa? What's this? I found it in the Attic."
"Oh that's nothing. Just a signed card that Babe Ruth gave me himself..."

Vin Scully took over for the O'l Readhead, Red Barber all those years ago at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, NY. God bless them.
I love Jane. I love Vinny......
I would love to hear the stories Vin Scully has.
He was at the Polo Grounds because he has always been a Giants fan.
3 words: “Behind the bag ! ”
"Here comes Knight! And the Mets win!"

unpopular opinion, but Scully was a bore to listen to
