ఇది కేవలం ఒక మూఢనమ్మకమేనని వైద్యులు చెబుతుంటారు. ఎపిలెప్సీ (ఫిట్స్) వచ్చినపుడు కొన్ని నిమిషాలపాటు మాత్రమే ఉంటుంది. దాని తర్వాత వాటంతట అవే తగ్గిపోతాయి. ఎక్కువ సేపు తగ్గకపోతే వైద్యం సహాయం కోరాలి. ఆ సమయంలో అతని చుట్టుపక్కల హాని కలిగించే వస్తువులు ఉండకుండా చూసుకోవాలి. వారి బట్టలు బిగుతుగా ఉంటే కొంచెం వదులు చేసి బాగా గాలి ఆడేలా చూడాలి. వారిని గట్టిగా అదిమి పెట్టడానికి ప్రయత్నించ కూడదు. పళ్ళు కటకటలాడుతుంటే వాటి మధ్యలో ఏదీ ఉంచడానికి ప్రయత్నించ కూడదు. దానివల్ల పళ్ళు విరిగిపోయే ప్రమాదం ఉంది. అలాగే వారిచేత బలవంతంగా ఏదైనా కూల్ డ్రింక్స్ లాంటివి తాగించే ప్రయత్నం చేయకూడదు. దానివల్ల ఊపిరి ఆడకపోవచ్చు లేదా అవి ఊపిరితిత్తుల్లోకి చేరే ప్రమాదం ఉంది.
ఒకవేళ ఎవరైనా ఫిట్స్ వస్తున్నట్లు కనిపిస్తే చూసిన వారు వాళ్ళు నార్మల్ అయ్యేదాకా పక్కనే ఉండటం మంచిది.
