Those wishing to visit this iconic park may want to stay overnight, and the Twin Peaks Campground offers visitors a place to rest their heads. But, you probably want to know... how does this park's campground stack up to others we've visited?

Welcome back to another camping guide episode! Today we explored the Twin Peaks Campground at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. We provide an in-depth look at our campsite along with a few tent campsites, RV campsites, and campground amenities. We then show a glimpse at the Campground Perimeter Trail and explore the visitor center where we finally receive our Hike for Health pin!
Twin Peaks Campground is one of two available at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument located in Ajo, Arizona. Twin Peaks Campground has 34 tent-only campsites and 174 sites for RVs. RV sites vary in the length they can accommodate - anywhere from 25 to 45 feet. It should be noted that there are only three sites that are available for 41-45 ft RVs.
Electrical and water hookups are not available to RVs. A dump station is available and located at the rear of the campground. Generator hours are from 8-10am and 4-6pm. Generators are not allowed in the four rows nearest tent-only campsites.
Reservations are required during peak season from January to March and can be made at Recreation.gov - www.recreation....
Each campsite has a stand-up grill and picnic table. Tent-only sites also have a tent pad of around 12 feet by 12 feet. We did see a few that were larger. Approximately 10 RV sites have tent pads as well. 12 sites are available for persons with disabilities.
Ground fires are not permitted in campsites. Fires can only be made in stand-up grills or raised fire pits (12 inches or more above ground).
Throughout the campgrounds are six bathroom facilities with running water. Half of these facilities offer free solar-powered showers. It is recommended to shower once daylight has had time to charge the heaters and wait a short bit while the water warms up. It can be quite a wake-up otherwise! In addition to toilets, sinks, and showers, each bathroom facility has a dishwashing station located nearby.
Nearby activities include many hiking trails. The Campground Perimeter Trail is a 1-mile loop trail that surrounds the entire campground. The Palo Verde Trail is 2.6 miles and connects to the visitor center. Pets are allowed on both these trails. Other trails include the 1.2-mile loop Desert View Trail with great views and the 4.5 mile Victoria Mine Trail which has a number of historic mining structures. Pets are not allowed on the latter two trails.

Rust is standard one public grills. All you gotta do is scrap the majority of it off, oil it up, let the charcoal burn hot and oil and scrap until you feel comfortable eating off it. I've cooked on grills that looked worse, just needs a little love before it's useful. And, after you're done, be a good camper and oil it back up so it doesn't rust for the next person.
I like campground reviews, sometimes, you never know what you are going to get when you arrive
Exactly! It's sometimes hard to know if you're going to have a fire pit, how many bathrooms there are and what they look like. That's one of the reasons why we started filming campgrounds because it was impossible to find information about some!

Congrats on the 2nd pin Glenn. I just learned recently that the National Parks has a Passport to Natural Parks program. You get a NPS Passport Book & when you visit a National Park go to the Visitor Center or Park Store & they have a Cancellation Stamp with the Name of the Park & Date to show you've been to that National Park. Just like when using a passport going into another country. Just thought you'd like to look into it since you're doing the pin thingy & some parks don't have the pin thingy. Plus it's another thing that might interest viewers. Kinda like rv's with the US map on the side they put shapes of the states they visited.
Oh that darned NPS Passport. 😂 We bought one of those when we filmed our Montezuma Castle video and brought it along to the Grand Canyon once and then promptly forgot about it after that and could have stamped off a whoooole lot of parks. I keep thinking we should do it again but that would mean going back to a lot of parks. NOT a complaint but in terms of time and mileage, a bit of a pickle to do. May have to rethink it though because the idea is really appealing.
Plus you can go back & do update reviews of how the places have changed for better or worse@@CactusAtlas . Nothing like finding new things or the infamous I Don't Remember That

If you were to go back, would you pick your campsite again, or would you pick 183? I like how 203 is in the back row, so you don't have neighbors across the road, but 183 looks like it might have more privacy with the extra trees/bushes on the sides?

Such a useful video about the park including the info about the campsites. Do you remember what time a person may enter the park? I plan to get there early to hike and then around noon go to the campsite? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

I would use foil on any public grill.
Rust simply tastes bad, to begin with. Here is where you may want to apply a modicum of elbow grease with a wire brush before grilling. Then wipe down freshly cleaned grills with some sort of cooking oil or grease, preferably .once warmed up to allow the oil to saturate the metal surface well. Steel needs a bit of 'seasoning' to perform well. Lockjaw?? I dunno.
Use your own grill grate on top.
Admittedly I was ill-prepared on that trip...
