    Hey! How'd you meet people there? Do you just go up to people and introduce yourself? haha I'm so excited for university :)!!

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Jumpstart was really the main way I met my core group of new friends (a lot of my close high school friends went to UBC too so I was kind of lucky). It was pure luck because I ended up having a few classes with people from my Jumpstart group. I am relatively shy believe it or not so I never make the first move when it comes to introducing myself. There were some situations where I did, like in classes where I didn't know anyone but most of my friends I have met through other friends!

      @@MaddyA I see.. Jump start sounds like a great event! I'm going to be commuting so I'll be in the collegia section of the program. Do you know if there are a lot of people who go to that one compared to the one you went to (residence) because to my knowledge, people who are in residence and people who are commuting have separate jump start schedules. Thanks so much for your help through my journey!! I apologize for asking so many questions, it's just that I've never been thrown into an environment completely alone and it's a little nerve racking! I appreciate your help so much, it feels like I'm asking an older sister for advice :))

    Hey Maddy I have a question for you. During Jumpstart was the cafeteria open or did you have to find food outside of campus?

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The residence cafeterias were open! Your meal costs are included in your Jumpstart fee. You can absolutely find stuff off campus but there is food available to you on campus.

      @@judyz2414 They usually went from about 9:30 am - 4:30 pm about 6-7 hours! Each day is different though - lots of unique activities and opportunities for breaks 👍🏻

    Can u tell me when did u start ur semester .?? I’m super confused 🤷🏻‍♀️ as a international knowing nothing i. It would really be helpful if u tell me when is the perfect time to start my college ?? 😞😞

    • @MaddyA

      UBC runs their programs from September through to April. Term one is September to December and term two is January to April. Students almost always start in September. When you apply to UBC, your program would likely start in the fall of that year.

      Maddy A will there be jumpstart if we go to the ubc in March or April ?

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@keimiki9230 Jumpstart is exclusively run in the summer at the end of August right before the beginning of the September term. There is no option to attend jumpstart in the spring months.

    Hey Maddy! from your experience at jumpstart would you say it's worth it for domestic students/were there a lot of domestic students there? I've heard it's only worth it if you're an international student, in your opinion is that true? Do you think locals could still make friends by attending Js?

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I think whether it is "worth it" or not entirely depends on what you value/are hoping to gain from it. Jumpstart is for anyone, international or domestic, and it gives you a chance to connect with students before classes start. I don't think its fair to say it is only worth it for international students - there is something in it for everyone. It is totally worth it for anyone interested in meeting students in their faculty and classes, moving into residence, or if you are unfamiliar with campus and all the things that come with. I met so many people from all over, locals too. I had a great time!
