+Shadow The Jedi I'm actually hoping he lives in to Rogue One, and helps The Rebellion obtain the Death Star plans, and/or aids them in their escape, sacrificing himself in the end. It would be a great final arc in his story.
The Defender upset me because I am afraid it means that the Gunboat and Avenger will never become canon. Same thought about the Speeder bike! I always forget to rig that bike during that sequence though. Too busy complaining that such small dispensers could never fit even ten droids let alone an effectively infinite amount.

Rebels badly needed an episode like this after the past few. Best 22 minute episode they’ve made in the series in my opinion. They finally killed off someone with a name on the Rebel side, Thrawn’s character was absolutely perfect, no cringe dialogue, Kallus as expected was revealed as Fulcrum and they introduced TIE Defenders - if they’re anything like in Battlefront the Rebels are screwed lol. Hope the later half of the Season has plenty of episodes like this! 👍
Battlefront had TIE Defenders? I played Battlefront II and I've never seen them before today. Looked pretty op and... frankly the design is a bit over the top.
***** He knows. It wouldn't be Thrawn if he didn't know. He didn't reveal it immediately because that would tip off the Rebels that Thrawn is on to them. He's going to keep letting Kallus pass them information so that they can build up to the point where Thrawn will be able to deconstruct them. The only possible fly I could possibly see in the ointment is that the Rebels now know of the plans for the TIE Defender.
And I think that Kallus knows that Thrawn suspects him so he will have to work harder to hide and to make sure that any information he gets is correct.
This episode was AMAZING! I think that, plot and character wise, this episode was the best in the whole season. It was relatively dark and realistic, much like the Clone Wars. I hope this continues for the remainder of the season!
***** and we have plenty of those. (Thrawn, Tarkin, Pryce...) But most human beings have morals, and a lot of the higher-ups question these morals when they are forced to see the Empire's true colors. So, it makes sense that many would feel disloyal to the Empire. But there are still many strong- Imperial characters.

Thrawn is so AWESOME. There's nothing more terrifying than a smart villain; one who sees through you and is surprised by nothing. It's so SO great, and I love seeing him in this show!
Finally an episode that actually moves the plot. More episodes like these please, and less of the ones we got before. I loved how we saw the AT AT pilots communicate, with them finally using the walker to crush the AT DP, thought that was really smart. Though I wish Thrawn actually won, kind of undermined his threat level by having the rebels get away with the plans, maybe have them be misleading? So when the TIE-Defenders do show up, they are completely different from what the Rebels thought they would be, thus completely destroying their fleet (Sato's fleet to be exact, all part of Thrawn's plan perhaps?).
We had to see Kallus get revealed as Fulcrum at some point though so it makes sense for Thrawn to lose here, but get a major victory later when he finds out Kallus and uses him to get to the Rebels.
I think the they showed the bad/joke episodes first. So we the fans can get the dark/lore episodes in the end of star wars rebels season 3.(Love your videos man keep up the good work and may the force be with you.)
Every episode to date in Rebels serves to drive the plot forward. The level of action may be different, but relevance to the plot remains consistent throughout episodes.
yeah because our teen protagonist force compelling someone to commit murder suicide in the first episode of the season was soooo light and fluffy for the kids.

I actually got a little upset by that, it's too early for defenders, far too early. If they go straight to the defender now they end up skipping the "Star Wing" Gunboat and TIE Avenger.

Now that is more like it. A better and great episode of Star Wars Rebels this week on Disney XD!!! An Inside Man was good , action packed , intense and emotional. Why can't most Rebels episodes be like this one was. Also good to be back on Lothal. Good production design in this episode and Kevin Kiner's Musical Score amazing once again. Can't wait for next weeks episode titled Visions and Voices

Oh my gosh, such love for the TIE Defender! My nostalgia!!! I cannot wait to see them in action blasting rebel scum! I was actually okay with this episode. Stormtroopers still dropped like cardboard mannequins (defeating 98% of the tension) but the story was eloquent and they didn't shy away from the gory details when they could have. Definitely an improvement over Iron Squadron!
I need a scene between Vader and Thrawn. Vader has to be growing tired of Thrawn's "long game." He has let the rebels escape too many times to let his strategy play out. I want to see who comes out as the dominant personality between Vader and Thrawn when they are in the same room together.
yeah, it's too bad. But Vader will likley return next season. As, our two main jedi are growing in power. i think in the last two seasons after this it will show more and more vader and maybe a little of the emperor.

to be fair, in my mind there have only been 2 bad episodes this entire season, and those were last 2 weeks. Iron Squadron and the Wynkathu Job. The rest I think have been absolutely fantastic.
Ghosts of Geonosis, January 7th, hour long special. That's going to be the pinnacle of the season, I bet. Either way, the lowest episode on the list is still Iron Squadron, which was decent.
Kinda wish Kallus wasn't Fulcrum, kinda glad he is. Regardless, when Ezra Force-pushed him through the glass thing, I died laughing. First time this show has gotten me to laugh that hard.

Thrawn was terrorific! I was so scared when he talked!!! He is great, this episode was a good one, not like the three last ones, but so much better, I hope this is the star of a new Rebels style, great!
Same here. I think it was to show that there will be times that the Rebels are unable to save a friend or friends. Also, it was to show just how brutal the Empire is especially Thrawn who I really hope gets what is coming to him by the end of Season 3.

A Lazy Shisno The Rebellion has experienced many losses already. The episode, The Inside Man, was to show that things are getting worse for everyone and that those effected by the Empire will fight back on their own or join the Rebellion.
Awesome episode but I have to say this to all the fans that are complaining about the filler episodes. Since we don't have the luxury of a live action TV series fans should be happy about having this series. I appreciate the fact that the creators are willing to take parts from the old Expanded Universe and bring it to this series. Plus in my opinion the filler episodes give us an opportunity to explore other areas in the SW universe. Some of the people complaining about this season are acting too spoiled and need to remember that this is also a kids animated show. It does not always have to cater to adults only. I'm not saying you are all bad people but lighten up
They're skipping several steps to go straight to the Defenders, I really wanted to see the Avengers first, and the Gunboats. Those two were more my style in the original TIE-fighter, the Defender was almost TOO fast with too many things to shuffle power between.

Also I *REALLY* Hope the Defender doesn't mean we're skipping its TIE Avenger and Xg1 "Star Wing" Assault Gunboat predecessors from the same series that introduced the defender Oh and I hope that Grand Admiral Thrawn doesn't Replace Grand Admiral Zaarin as the man behind the "Super TIE" projects.
DIEGhostfish eh Zaarin was a pushover Director Lenzer was the real guy behind the new TIE designs, Zaarin just funded and sponsored them. Also I'd love to see the TIE Warhead.
True, but Zaarin was the guy who made sure the project got done... and then somehow kidnapped the Emperor which didn't exactly make sense but whatever, the game was good. I just miss the somewhat more reasonable Avenger and Gunboat. The Gunboat was basically a more maneuverable Y-Wing and served as a good scout/escort, somewhat of a successor to the ARC-170.
+Elijah Blechman I liked the Gunboat the best, the idea that the co-creators of the Imperial Shuttle actually managed to make a fighter good enough for the Empire to say "Okay, maybe having ALL TIE fighters isn't the most important thing in the world, we'll stash a few Cygnus Gunboats aboard our ships to act as scouts and raiders."
My only slight issue with Kallus being a good person in the empire is that in "Spark of the rebellion" he kicked a stormtrooper to his death. Other than that I love this idea. I love that the TIE defenders are back!
As with everything in Star Wars, it's a little more too it. According to the novelization for the premier, the hapless stormtrooper was shaking the pylon they were hanging on to.
The best episode this season after the opening episodes so far! Thrawn was great as expected, Kallus is Fulcrum as expected as well, and the TIE Defender reveal was a nice touch. I had my suspicions that the secret at Lothal factory was not connected to the Death Star project, even thou there were hints that it somehow is. Who knows, maybe we'll find out later that there's even a bigger secret in the Imperial facility, but I doubt it. Just hope we'll be able to see the TIE Defenders in action in more than one episode and that they'll kill their score of Rebels, before the Ghost crew figures out how to take them out somehow... Oh and Kallus is pretty much dead man walking. Its obvious Thrawn knows its him and he's just going to use him to lure the Rebels into a trap. Kallus will probably sacrifice himself in the end to save the Ghost crew and ironically die a Rebel hero... Looking forward to the next episode and seeing Maul again!
When I saw the Defender I almost screamed "hell yes!". Please let the Empire build a few of those, would make a lot of TIE pilots happy. On Callus I felt quite convenient his present every time the Rebels needed help so I had my suspects. I wonder if Thrawn has some suspects on him too

Well, I wouldn't really like Thrawn to know already. After all, Kallus hasn't contributed enough to be exposed. I'd find it more interesting if he actually suspected Pryce since he knows she interrogated Sabine before she escaped and the rebels managed to escape again in her presence.
it would be severely disappointing if thrawn did something as cliche as suspect the loyal servant. he knows it's kallus, he's just using him, probably to lead him to the rebel base. the way he spit out kallus at the end of the ep., if i were kallus i'd not stick around any longer.
I may not have played the games, but the TIE Defenders appeared frequently in the NJO, and I can certainly appreciate this addition into the canon series.

I don't know if its canon. Just saw a "Star Wars Explained" video where he issued why the Tie Defender wasn't in the battle of Endor. There he said it was a "on screen canon appearance", so I drew my conclusion from that video.

Or both. In Legends, Thrawn is killed by someone he did not think of as a threat. In Cannon, I believe that Kallus will give his life to take out Thrawn.
While I hope they don't kill off Thrawn, him killed by an inside man wouldn't be the first time, and would be the story group's honouring of the Legends' Thrawn's death.
TIE/D Defenders were already reintroduced into Canon in Star Wars Commander Still nice to see them though Also, we knew Kallus was Fulcrum since...whichever episode had them last talk to Fulcrum since they didn't really bother distorting Kallus's voice during the transmission

Thrawn was terrorific! I was so scared when he talked!!! He is great, this episode was a good one, not like the three last ones, but so much better, I hope this is the star of a new Rebels style, great!

Same here. I think it was to show that there will be times that the Rebels are unable to save a friend or friends. Also, it was to show just how brutal the Empire is especially Thrawn who I really hope gets what is coming to him by the end of Season 3.
cybercat29 Yeah, I was getting a little concerned with the fact that the rebels always seem to win and that nobody ever dies. I hope the rebellion starts to take more losses, it'll give a bigger sense of tension and make the Empire seem like an actual threat.

A Lazy Shisno The Rebellion has experienced many losses already. The episode, The Inside Man, was to show that things are getting worse for everyone and that those effected by the Empire will fight back on their own or join the Rebellion.
After the Antilles Extraction, we were all like "KALLUS IS GONNA BECOME A REBEL!!!" Looks like we were right all along.......
I kind of figured Callus was Fulcrum. I bet his name is Crix Maden since he kind of looks like him.

Awesome episode but I have to say this to all the fans that are complaining about the filler episodes. Since we don't have the luxury of a live action TV series fans should be happy about having this series. I appreciate the fact that the creators are willing to take parts from the old Expanded Universe and bring it to this series. Plus in my opinion the filler episodes give us an opportunity to explore other areas in the SW universe. Some of the people complaining about this season are acting too spoiled and need to remember that this is also a kids animated show. It does not always have to cater to adults only. I'm not saying you are all bad people but lighten up

They're skipping several steps to go straight to the Defenders, I really wanted to see the Avengers first, and the Gunboats. Those two were more my style in the original TIE-fighter, the Defender was almost TOO fast with too many things to shuffle power between.

True, but Zaarin was the guy who made sure the project got done... and then somehow kidnapped the Emperor which didn't exactly make sense but whatever, the game was good. I just miss the somewhat more reasonable Avenger and Gunboat. The Gunboat was basically a more maneuverable Y-Wing and served as a good scout/escort, somewhat of a successor to the ARC-170.
+Elijah Blechman I liked the Gunboat the best, the idea that the co-creators of the Imperial Shuttle actually managed to make a fighter good enough for the Empire to say "Okay, maybe having ALL TIE fighters isn't the most important thing in the world, we'll stash a few Cygnus Gunboats aboard our ships to act as scouts and raiders."
Thrawn came in to "inspect" the project. Given his rank he'd know of the weapon, so I'm pretty sure he isn't officially the man behind it.
My only slight issue with Kallus being a good person in the empire is that in "Spark of the rebellion" he kicked a stormtrooper to his death. Other than that I love this idea.

As with everything in Star Wars, it's a little more too it. According to the novelization for the premier, the hapless stormtrooper was shaking the pylon they were hanging on to.
I suppose if Vader can be redeemed, Kallus can to.
Can't wait to see what future awaits Agent Kallus.
The best episode this season after the opening episodes so far!
Thrawn was great as expected, Kallus is Fulcrum as expected as well, and the TIE Defender reveal was a nice touch. I had my suspicions that the secret at Lothal factory was not connected to the Death Star project, even thou there were hints that it somehow is. Who knows, maybe we'll find out later that there's even a bigger secret in the Imperial facility, but I doubt it. Just hope we'll be able to see the TIE Defenders in action in more than one episode and that they'll kill their score of Rebels, before the Ghost crew figures out how to take them out somehow...
Oh and Kallus is pretty much dead man walking. Its obvious Thrawn knows its him and he's just going to use him to lure the Rebels into a trap. Kallus will probably sacrifice himself in the end to save the Ghost crew and ironically die a Rebel hero...
Looking forward to the next episode and seeing Maul again!

When I saw the Defender I almost screamed "hell yes!". Please let the Empire build a few of those, would make a lot of TIE pilots happy.
On Callus I felt quite convenient his present every time the Rebels needed help so I had my suspects. I wonder if Thrawn has some suspects on him too
I thought Kallus's expression at the very end was remarkably nuanced. The animators really nailed the ghost of fear sneaking across his stone face.

I'd find it more interesting if he actually suspected Pryce since he knows she interrogated Sabine before she escaped and the rebels managed to escape again in her presence.
it would be severely disappointing if thrawn did something as cliche as suspect the loyal servant. he knows it's kallus, he's just using him, probably to lead him to the rebel base.

I may not have played the games, but the TIE Defenders appeared frequently in the NJO, and I can certainly appreciate this addition into the canon series.

Ralph Valencia Tie Defender has been canon for a while. Its in the Star Wars Battlefront Death star dlc
I'm not sure if Battlefront is cannon, I'm pretty sure that battles are non-canonical, otherwise several maps would only go one way
I don't know if its canon. Just saw a "Star Wars Explained" video where he issued why the Tie Defender wasn't in the battle of Endor. There he said it was a "on screen canon appearance", so I drew my conclusion from that video.

all battlefront content is canon, ships weapons , suits etc. the outcome of your multiplayer matches are obviously not canon

Or both. In Legends, Thrawn is killed by someone he did not think of as a threat. In Cannon, I believe that Kallus will give his life to take out Thrawn.
While I hope they don't kill off Thrawn, him killed by an inside man wouldn't be the first time, and would be the story group's honouring of the Legends' Thrawn's death.
Hope Kallus doesn't die, he's pretty cool to be working with the rebels.
