Basically Bondi Beach is the most famous, only because it happens to be located right in the heart of Australia's biggest city. And the city that most tourists visit. So they all go to the easiest beach to access, in the largest city. And then when they go home, they talk about Bondi Beach. That is the only reason it is famous. its actually a pretty standard Australian beach. Much better beaches can be found North or South of Sydney. Also in Queensland and Western Australia. In fact every state has beaches that would rank much higher than Bondi.
Bondi is not even the best beach in Sydney. It got to be famous because there was a tram line that went there - it was the only beach that most people in Sydney could easily get to until the railway reached Cronulla.
Agree. I hate Bondi. Maroubra, Cronulla, Coogee, Clovelly and even the beaches at Wollongong to Shellharbour and Kiama to the south are better, then to the north the beaches at Hawk's Nest or Port Stephens towards Coffs Harbour is better than Bondi, to the north. And central coast's Avoca beach isn't bad either. Bondi sucks. (My opinion anyways)
Welcome to Australia and thanks so much for visiting our beautiful Central Coast! Lived here over 50 years and just love the place! Watching you guys tour here makes me smile! Great job! ❤
So cool watching you guys walking through Erina Fair. I worked on that shopping centre building project over 22 years ago. it has changed so much since way back then. Central Coast is a magical part of NSW, glad you enjoyed its natural beauty.

Lake Eyre in South Australia is a saltwater lake which when full (almost 10,000 sq km) makes Lake Macquarie look like a bathtub. Lake Macquarie is the largest coastal lake not fed by rivers or streams. Dora Creek, Stoney Creek and Cockle Creek which feed into Lake Macquarie are functionally insignificant as regards water volume.
Central Coast council permits overnight camping in public car park areas for seven nights. It encourages longer stays and more expenditure at our local shops. The BBQs are a fabulous idea. Free but you must clean them aftef use. You will also find that some of the clubs will permit an overnight caravan stay if you are visiting the club for meals and drinks.
I live on the NSW Central Coast. I can tell you tourists do come here. You missed the best bits… Terrigal, Avoca, Umina, Pearl Beach and Patonga. It is a heaven here. By the way Erina Fair (not Arena) is the largest single level shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere. And Tuggerah Lake is one of three lakes on the Central Coast and is smaller than the other two ! Lake Munmorah is the largest. The Central Coast Mariners football (soccer) team are champions of Australia. Two years in a row now. You should see their stadium in Gosford. Beautiful.

Parking is free on the street, just be mindful of the time restrictions As you were looking for coffee you walked past a nice coffee place on the corner right beside cold rock! When it comes to parking , if there’s no parking metres, look for a parking sign nearby that might have something such as no stopping in red or 2P means 2 hour parking on these days etc
As you are going up to the coast don’t miss Hat Head and South West Rocks and if you would really like to get off the beaten path and see somewhere beautiful check out Minnie Water and Wooli. Although you might get sick of all the beautiful beaches eventually! Be sure to check out Nimbin too! I’m sure you’ll already have Byron Bay on the list :) if you’re in that area the river at Brunswick Heads at high tide is the most beautiful blue. It’s stunning and you might even see some fishies or a turtle while you’re swimming. Keep the content coming!
You mention lakes in your video. Australia's largest lake is in South Australia.(Lake Eyre). When full (which isn't often ) it is 25 % larger than Ireland. Just thought I'd mention it to help with perspective. Most people from OS do not appreciate Australia's size.
Wooden homes are riskier in bushfire areas. There may be building regulations requiring more fire-resistant structures. All lenders and insurers like to safeguard their investments. In Oz, new builds are expensive. It may not be an issue in rainy countries but Oz can be a tinderbox in bad years.
Love that you are showcasing The Entrance. FYI I believe Lake Macquarie (just another 40mins north) is the biggest salt lake in the southern hemisphere.
Welcome to nsw my home state....Bondi is where tourists go it's lovely but very busy ......our coast line is one if the most beautiful in the world ....enjoy your stay
Bondi Beach is fabulously beautiful. It's just down the road from CBD, hence why it's well known around the world. Bondi gets huge publicity, attracting thousands. Lovely little seaside village vibes and while you’re around Kiama, you could check out Jamberoo Action Park, lots of great water rides, toboggan rides etc. it’s seasonal, but it will have more days open from 28th September.
Come to Far South Coast (Merimbula or Eden) for the whale watching season in September/October. There are so many great natural attractions, e.g Horse Head Rocks & Blue Pool at Bermagui, the Pinnnacles at Pambula, the best oysters in oysters in Australia from the oyster farms at Broadwater (and this is from someone who doesn’t like oysters normally) , kayak tours down Pambula River. Music at Longstocking Brewery, Gin tasting at Nine Circles Distillery, It’s also know as the Sapphire Coast, if you love relaxed, natural beauty, it’s sensational. It’s halfway between Sydney and Melbourne, via the coast.
Just in NSW alone there is the Blue Mountains, The trips down into the valleys below on either train or cablecar then Taronga Zoo at night and of course it's compatriot Western Plains Zoo where you can experience more like an African Safari style Zoo. States and local councils vary in their restrictions on 'free camping' so respect any signage and ask a local if there are any choice spots. I live in Tasmania where local councils typically have areas where one or two nights free overnight camping is OK. My local council has a good signed free camping area which is right next to an obvious looking camping area which however turns into a major all- day market every Saturday. National Parks frequently offer free camping areas but check if permits are required as these manage the number of campers on any day. In Tasmania a Parks Pass is required to enter National Parks. An annual pass is $99 per vehicle with up to 8 people which is only $6 more than a two month pass. Where camping fees apply they are typically around $13 per night or $50 for a week.
I can much recommend the central coast, it isn't to overrun by tourists and probably a lot closer to regular Australian life than the big cities. The freedom camping is not a thing in some places like Queensland. Make sure to check the places you're going to. If you like gorgeous pretty beaches try out the beaches just north of Ballina, just so pretty any not too many people there.
What a wonderful bird is the Pelican ? His beak can hold more than his belly can! I spent many weeks in The Entrance when I was a kid. A friend of my Great Grandmother owned a house in The Entrance and we often stayed with them. I well remember one night that my dad came home with a huge bucket full of prawns he had caught in the The Entrance Lagoon. I still love prawns. Mike in Oz
So funny mate, you pronounced literally every place name wrong haha. I live on the Central Coast, at Woy Woy, but I'm moving up near The Entrance soon.
It's so funny seeing tourists walking around what used to be my local shops. I used to work at both the bakers delights there next to coles and woolworths at erina about 5 years ago. I moved to Gosford now, though, and work in Wyoming, which is about 15-20 minute drive from erina. Also, parking on public roads is free on the coast and in most parts of Australia outside of the major cities. There will be a white sign with the letter P and a number next to it in green writing and maybe some times of day. This will tell you how long and when you can park there. If you have to pay there will be a parking meter near by usually within eye shot. As soon as I saw you're cousin I knew he was a local. He just has the vibe
Squeaky Beach in Victoria was awarded best beach in Australia in 2024. According to an ABC article in March 2024 Squeaky Beach, near Tidal River at Wilsons Promontory was the first ever Victorian beach to claim the title of Australia’s best beach of the year. Squeaky Beach came up trumps after investigation of 12,000 beaches around the mainland and surrounding islands conducted by Tourism Australia.
I grew up a little further north at Budgewoi until I was 21. We used to go to The Entrance all the time. I had a fabulous childhood and loved living there.
Oh wow, it looks so beautiful, the annual music festival Rolling Sets is held at The Entrance, Central Coast, at Memorial Park in December. I'll be going there this year. It's like a festival that has a lot of surf-rock bands. Big surf-rock scene in NSW. Bands this year that will be playing include Lime Cordiale [from Northern Beaches, NSW]. The Grogans [from Melbourne/Torquay] and The Wombats [from the UK]. Really looking forward to it!
Good to see ya fishing Glen. I've been waiting for it seeing as you go to so many good fishing spots on your trips around. Should get a couple of collapsable fishing rods and lures so you can show us how good you are at catching a feed. Do some cook ups on the beaches. Mado might get into it too.
You drove about 3 kilometres from my home, as I live in a suburb next door to The Entrance. I may be biased but I think its one of the loveliest areas of NSW. And it does get very busy here in the holiday and school holiday periods, lots of tourists and people from Sydney. Not sure if you mentioned it, but one is required to get a license to fish.
Hard to get a prawn there these days. The ones u do get are pretty small too! That's if, aftter spending most of the night standng in the water you get any at all.
just a warning....NSW now has speed, selt belt and mobile phone detection cameras in place so try a cradle to put your phone instead of holding. If your passenger is not wearing a seat belt properly, you still get fined. Fines in NSW are the most expensive in the country
Last Sunday me and my hubby did the Bouddi Coastal trail . It was 14km with heaps of steps but the scenery was so beautiful . It took us about 4.5 hours . It is in Bouddi national park , Central Coast . Great video thank you !
If you ever get the chance, head to Port Stephens. There are some of the most amazing beaches.. Shoal Bay , Anna Bay , and Fingal Bay are all within 5 mins drive with loads of beaches. Birubi beach stretches from Anna Bay to Stockton Beach, one of the longest beaches in Australia.. Enjoy your trip.. Great videos.. 🤙🙏

Bondi is wildly overrated and often too crowded. We have so many beautiful beaches. Bondi is worth a visit just so you can say that you've been there. Then, go to one of the 11,761 other spectacular beaches that we have here. See one a week and it'll take you 226 years to see them all.

So funny mate, you pronounced literally every place name wrong haha. I live on the Central Coast, at Woy Woy, but I'm moving up near The Entrance soon.
You should see the beaches in Esperance Western Australia
Can’t wait to you see a rosella
Great video, hopefully you can visit the South Coast ,in particular Kiama and surrounding areas!
Erina plaza 😂 that place is like a back watered shops 20years frozen in the past.
Appreciate your gratitude!
18:28 That is the largest coastal lake in Australia. Lake MacQuarrie.
You drove about 3 kilometres from my home, as I live in a suburb next door to The Entrance. I may be biased but I think its one of the loveliest areas of NSW. And it does get very busy here in the holiday and school holiday periods, lots of tourists and people from Sydney. Not sure if you mentioned it, but one is required to get a license to fish.
no way south coast on top
A wonderful bird is the pelikan; His beak can hold more than his belly can.
If your @ Entrance you need to go Prawning, with Nets ...
Hard to get a prawn there these days. The ones u do get are pretty small too! That's if, aftter spending most of the night standng in the water you get any at all.
@@HenriHattar Well it's been a while, so like all things it probably has faded, but on a Hot Summer Night it was alright ...
just a warning....NSW now has speed, selt belt and mobile phone detection cameras in place so try a cradle to put your phone instead of holding.
🤙🙏
If i hadn't read your title and just watched the video, no audio, i would've thought you were still visiting small towns in nz
It is called The Entrance because the lake closes and sea water wont flow in , so it is kept open and this is why it's called "The Entrance."
you would be doing the hot sand quick step if you were there on a summer day.
I think if you guys dont live next to the beach, you would love the Newtown area! Surry Hills, if you want to live right in the city, matraville if you like the beaches.
You need to go the Irish pubs that you want to and stop worrying about money. Pa we loved your Queenstown episodes)
i live here!!! that’s so cool to see on youtube lol
You should visit Somersby Falls. But you both like beach views, so I recommend Munmorah Lookout. Or Snapper Point Sea Cave.
I'll love how he uses the word 'madam'. I so want to use it too. My missus will either love it or hate it. I'll let you know.
I believe he is saying Mado, his lady's name.😁
Parking at the entrance is free!
So funny to her your reaction I live here you drove past my house lol it is beautiful no doubt
The pelicans come in at 3pm .... yes exactly for feeding
I love your videos. Please make sure that you travel south as well. Don’t forget to visit the national capital Canberra. More coffee shops and eateries per population than anywhere else, and lots of free sites of national importance. Plus beautiful!
Hey thanks so much! We made these videos about 3 months ago but will arrive back in the country in 3 days and super excited to fully explore over 8 months ❤️
Second this suggestion, it gets a bad wrap, but Canberra is beautiful, perfect place to spend a weekend!
If you make it to Cronulla, grab the Ferry to Bundeena (a Village in the Royal National Park) , or drive there... ..... Its also 1 hr away, though sth of Sydney..... Weirdly , many Sydneysiders dont even know about it!
Hmmmmmmm... Maybe they do now.........
Love that little ferry.
@@happytraveller2122 Oldest Running Ferry to a timetable it the country! Since 1939!
Besides the Curranulla Ferry, sometimes they use the little one...The Tom Thumb.... So cute!
I don’t live far from the Entrance gets very crowded in the warmer weather.
$2.99 a kilo for avocados! The cheapest I’ve seen an avocado in Melbourne is $1 each during the height of the picking season.
The pelicans hide around picnic Point when not at The Entrance. He he he.
You need to get to the mid north coast around Forster. It just gets better and better.
You must go to Jervis Bay, NSW!! Best beaches ever
Yep the Shoalhaven has a 100 beach challenge. I live here and I still haven’t been to all of them!
Great to see Mado's coming back to life :) with a spring in her step !
Have a cool time guys.
☀️🇦🇺
I grew up in Wamberal so it’s funny to see someone vlogging about it and Erina Fair. I found it a pretty boring place to grow up and couldn’t wait to move to Sydney.
Lake Macquarie just to the north is larger. Swansea is on Lake Macquarie and is not the Central Coast
Yeah was just going to say Swansea is no longer central coast outskirts of Newcastle if you count that far.
Bondi is wildly overrated and often too crowded. We have so many beautiful beaches. Bondi is worth a visit just so you can say that you've been there. Then, go to one of the 11,761 other spectacular beaches that we have here. See one a week and it'll take you 226 years to see them all.
Australia has a plethora of beaches better than #Bondi. Avalon & Palm Beach are just 2
No payment parking at most beaches in Aus especially outside of city eg Bondi coogee
Go to Nelson Bay Area, it’s stunning
We need to document everything though haha :) we will be seeing it all don't worry! :)
Sorry but the biggest lake is the next lake up it's called Lake Macquarie its where i grew up
Another fun video! NB, our powerlines run at 50 cycles, you want to adjust your video settings to avoid flicker :-)
Packed on the weekends
That cousin of yours, Carl is a real true blue. Great clip, but I dislike malls with a passion. Long live High Street. ! x
