    My next dream place to visit in Peru. I've already been to Pucallpa, Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley, and Colca Canyon is my next dream place to go.

    The 2 deepest Canyon in the World are in Peru . . the 2º deepest Colca Canyon and the 1º deepest is Cotahuasi Canyon. Both in the same region.

    Hey! Great video, thanks for sharing. Did going down/up the canyon add worthy views compared to admiring it from the top? (as you'd do on a one day tour? Just wondering whether I should do it for the challenge or for the views (the latter is a stronger incentive for me, as my whole 2 weeks are packed with hikes in Peru!). Thanks :)

    • @AlikiTravelBlog
      @AlikiTravelBlog  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! Uhh good question… I would say going up and down offers you wayyy more perspectives and beautiful views. On the 2nd day on the way back we stopped at the main (best) viewpoint and although the view is amazing I would say it was also limited. From viewpoints you mostly see the top of the hills which is great but that u see everywhere hiking. The magic of this place is the canyon with the trails through it. Only my personal opinion but I would say going down/up is better. Not sure from where are you planning to travel to Colca Canyon but if it is from Arequipa it is quite a long ride just for a 30min stop at the viewpoint. It is something you have to experience to appreciate its beauty. I hope it helps 😊

    • @mihail7185
      @mihail7185 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AlikiTravelBlog I see, thank you for elaborating! And I agree, a long ride for a 30min stop (probably even less as they stop for a few minutes in many places!) is not the way to take in what should be a memorable experience. Sorted, I'll do the 2 days one :) just hope that 1 day and a half in Arequipa will be enough to acclimate before doing Colca Canyon now! Thanks again ^^

      @@mihail7185 Amazing, you will love it! But yes altitude sickness is serious, I fainted in Bogota when I first landed in South America 😂 and a lot of people especially in Peru were recommending me coca leave tea and a lot of people claim it helps them but for me nothing, no effect. My head kept hurting constantly. The only thing that helped me was Agua Florida. They sell them all over Peru (and probably other countries too), you basically sniff it and it relieves the sickness. So if there is one thing I can recommend to take with you on your trip is Agua Florida. I talk about it and show it in this video: th-cam.com/video/nsdrp5DxAtM/w-d-xo.html (Around 1:30)

    I'm just wondering how did you manage to do bathroom breaks in the hike and how's the condition of the toilets in the oasis? :) still thinking if I'm going or not next week :P

    • @AlikiTravelBlog
      @AlikiTravelBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hahaha great question 😂 well, there are no toilets on the way, BUT there will be place when you start and then in your lunch spot and in between I guess the hike was so intense I didn't think about it but if you will have need you would need to do it the natural way 😂 Oasis hmm... i know there were more 'luxurious' stays but I stayed in quite basic one and the toilet well...it was very basic 😂

    Amazing! Going there next week, may I ask how did you book this hike and how much did you pay? Thanks!

    • @AlikiTravelBlog
      @AlikiTravelBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey, you will love it! I booked with one of the agencies near the main square, unfortunately I do not remember the name. But they all are the same. They are just the middle man. In reality it is always a different company doing the actual tour. It is a South America things hahah Cost..per person it was 180 soles for 2 day thing....and that is the average price, I remember checking with other agencies and it was from 170 to 190 average. With that you will get the standard shed with outside cold shower :D what I had...if you want better accommodations you need to look for more expensive option.

      I do not remember the name :( but all agencies in Arequipa are just middle men, there are 2 companies that actually do the tour, so you can book with any company in Arequipa centre. make sure to not overpay. 2 day trekking cost 180 SOL. ;)
