got my 62 for 400 euros. all the faders and potis are only 2 years old and it looks like new. such a great piece. i use channel 5&6 for the xdjs and 1-4 for synthesizers and fx returns. its great fun
Nice purchase Benny. Had my silver model since '08...use channels 1&2 for fx return and line in (guitar). She's been a faithful workhorse, aside from the "soft" cutting x-fader that has always been a let down for me (glad they fixed this with the 96). Still sounds great.
That’s a cool way to use those channels. I know what you mean about the x fader. I tend to leave it in the middle and mix through the sliders for my style of music. I’ve had it a while now and I can’t see me upgrading anytime soon. It just a solid all-round and still competes with high-end mixers on the market today.
Thanks for the video man & a lovely classic mixer!. I once owned one of these 62's. I used to work on the factory floor for Allen & Heath soldering components to circuit boards during the late 90's I would have bought another Xone 62, but i just don't have the room for one at the moment. So I just recently ordered a brand new boxed Xone 22 for 175 quid. From what I've been reading, the Xone 22 has much louder phono preamps compared to the Xone 23, so plenty of headroom. Whereas the Xone 23 you have to crank up the Phono Line levels to get them to a decent level, which can obviously be a bit of an issue when mixing in quieter tracks.
@@BennyGogz Yeah, for sure. I'm pretty happy with this mixer so far. for a budget mixer at this price point, the sound quality really can't be matched by the likes of Pioneer and many others. I will most likely upgrade to the Xone 43c next. It would be nice to be able to use DVS & have those extra channels.
@@AmbientWanderer if you’re looking into DVS might be worth exploring a Serato sound card. I use the Denon DS1 which is plug and play, so you don’t need a Serato licence. With mixers with DVS capability you normally have to buy a licence as well. Just something to keep in mind… here is the link to Serato hardware guide : serato.com/dj/hardware?license=dj-enabled
@@BennyGogz Yeah, I have been considering the Denon DS1. I have a couple of questions about it actually. 1; Will OBS studio recognise it as a soundcard so that you can livesteram? 2: are you able to record your sets from Serato with the DS1? 3: How do the phono premaps sound?
@@AmbientWanderer sorry for the delay responding. I use OBS for my live streams and all my house is using Serato DJ Pro through the DS1. I tend to record in OBS - never attempted a Serato record, just because of haven’t needed to I guess.
I have and both, they really are quite different. I prefer the EQ on the 23 but the filter on the 62 . I feel that the low EQ on the 62 takes too much out of the track despite it being -26dB cut and not full kill like the 23. It's really hard to explain but I end up only using the high pass for mixing. My MS Radius 2 is similar in that sense so it doesn't feel weird to me. The cue system is quite a bit different, no blending on the 62 for headphone only mixing at night. Also the channel faders on the 62 seems to go bad pretty easily.
Thanks for the comments. Hopefully these views will help others when faced with a purchasing decision between the two. I think your comment on the EQs is valid. Thanks
I bought a 96. Dont get a 23c. U miss out on the led on up faders and send return control. U need dry wet control these days. So, if ur only using in bedroom, id still suggest go for a 43 minimum.. Save for a 43/or a px5/ xone 92/ or a 96 if u can afford to, 96 all day. 🙂👍🏻
Question, I just got my 62 and the filter only works when the crossfader is engaged, however I never use the crossfader so I am used to having it disabled. Is my mixer faulty or is that just how it works?
Just snagged one of these and cant for the life of me figure out why cuing is delayed in the headphones. I hit the que on my deck and it takes a second to come through the headphones. Is this normal?
I had this issue when I first tried setting up my 62 with my CDJs. Went and found the original user manual online and ‘setup’ the mixer from scratch. Because it is analogue there is a certain sequence to getting all the levels/sends correct
Currently spinning on the 23 with 2 1210ers. Considering the 62 over the 92 now, love second hand stuff and it’s way pricier as well. Im wondering though: are the 62 filters as good as the 92 ones?
The filter frequency range is not as great on the 92, 30-20 vs 100-20. I can confirm there is less pop when assigning the filter. The 92 uses toggle switches and the one I used was noticeable. I mean for the price difference used - 62 all the way if your on a tight family budget like I was. The output is amazing. Frankly, I’ve been looking, and it would be hard to justify upgrading to another mixer - still rivals those in the £3K bracket and I digitalised it with a Serato Denon DS1 which you can pick up for around £150 (used).
To me it felt that the wild range wasn’t as good on the 23 compared with the 62. That said, I’ve not checked this out in terms of technical spec comparison. The warmth from the 62 sound quality compared to the 23 could be the difference between the filters.
Okay so just looked on the A&H website (annoying me that I couldn’t properly answer) and the frequency range on the VCF control on the 23/c and 43/c is 20Hz to 20kHz. Interestingly the 92 is only 30Hz to 20kHz... Xone 62 is 100Hz to 20kHz. That’s a crazy difference! The Xone 32 seems to carry the same range as the 62, but they’re from the same era
You use your channel 1 and 2 for send and return mate! so good

Thanks Eric. I couldn’t quite believe my luck when it landed!
Currently using djm 300 .need upgrad .looking at djm600 djm 909 .and xone 62 help needed to choose .which one for good sound and filters please
I had a djm 800 as well, while effects are great the filters on anything else are unrivalled. Djm for digital DJs - Xone for vinyl in my view
It came out late 2001 and early 2002 (US) and the 92 late 2002 and early 2003 (US)
Full #analog and if you look after it, will last you for life.
A&H zone 62> pioneer digital CRAP

What's the difference between the quality in the filters between the 23 and 62? Is it really that different?

В xone 62 стоят очень крутые операционные усилители TL072, поэтому у 62го и звук очень крут!
Xone 43 the 23 is a 2 channel mixer
That’s correct but I’m comparing the 62 with 23 as they are in the same price bracket (£200-£300 used) Xone 43 is £400-£500 used.
@@BennyGogz xone 43 is £540 brand new
