I'm there as well. I've been an educator for over 20 years, and I have Never seen such reluctant learners. No curiosity about anything. No compassion for each other, let alone anyone else. Parents are a nightmare! If their children are held accountable for their learning and behavior, we are "mistreating" them. Yeah. When I need backup, they go to a room to reset where they can have a snack and color something. We are rewarding bad behavior and reaping the (predictable) rewards. I'm here until I hit Medicare age and after that I can't get out fast enough. I have two master's degrees, speak three languages and have a lot to offer--but I'd get more respect as the custodian. I don't think most people have ANY idea how bad it is and how unprepared for adulthood these kiddos are going to be when they arrive there.

Everyone who can retire is retiring. They are smiling and waving as they head out the door. Anyone who doesn't need the full paycheck is going part-time. We are in this together! I will likely retire the second that's an option. If they were halfway decent to subs, I would want to come back now and then...but they are just awful to substitutes. They should make parents guest teach, when teachers are out sick. They might wake up and see the problem.

'THE SOUND OF SILENCE LIKE A CANCER GROWS'. For those teachers that say they tried I have to ask: DID YOU REALLY? The so called teachers of 50 years ago produced those parents you call a "NIGHTMARE". Then the next generation of teachers have produced the least intelligent generation and the most mentally unbalanced young people the world has seen. From what I have seen over the past 50 years now you so called teachers did a great job of pushing an agenda you were quite a wear you were pushing. SO DO NOT BLAME THE CHILDREN AND PARENTS for what you have willingly done.
YES: THE LEGACY OF TEACHERS will go down in history as DESTROYERS OF Generations of children and young adults. Just because you chose to be SILENT OR you chose to TURN A BLIND EYE IS NOT AN EXCUSE for what has happened with in the wall of education. YOU COULD AND SHOULD have spoken out but you chose to be cowards and you are now quity for what has happened. ALL teachers can take the blame for that.

@singerjo5791 so true! There's a lot of bribing kids into being less disruptive. The kids who are being good don't get a break and snacks, etc. Not fair. We don't want all negative consequences, but the system is rewarding naughty behavior. It's confusing to the kids! I do what I can to reward good behavior and effort as much as possible, so those who are really trying will feel like their good choices mean something. ❤️ ty

GOD is fully aware of who has participated in the destruction of his children. Like I said "silent or turning a blind eye makes you guilty of what has happened. If you said nothing and did nothing they whos fault do you think it is. I was set so parents would have to both work and for the teachers to take over and destroy and corrupt those children. NO ONE IS INNOCENT HERE for what has happened and is still happening.

A teacher would contact home and the family would talk to their child and the next day would be better. Sometimes we would get a note from a child or they would come in before school to apologize in person. Those kids usually only get in trouble like once because their families care. New sub for the gardening videos. I’m 10 years older than my brother. He and all the kids I babysat cured my maternal instincts. Didn’t want kids. I volunteer with big brother big sisters. Many kids need role models outside the family. Sadly parents are too busy or neglectful or abusive. We’re doomed as a society. They took away parents and teachers rights to discipline kids. Because they threaten to call family services. Because a few parents were abusive to their kids no one can correct these monsters. 😢
Merry Christmas prayers for a better position, maybe teach adults

Thank you for subscribing to my channel. It is mostly gardening ;) Kids do need role models for sure. When parents hear how kids talk about teachers (too hard, too strict, too fast paced....), parents should wonder what their kids say about them! I heard one student calling her parent a bleepity-bleep for only making mashed potatoes. You are right- there is a lot of neglect and appropriately disciplining children is neglectful. Thank you for volunteering with Big Brother Big Sisters. That is a wonderful way to contribute in a meaningful way! :)

They been waiting for the collapse of society and it is all about to happen in the very near future for sure by 1950. The end goal is in Orwell 1984 and Brave New World etc. Many books out there besides the two I mentioned explains all of this. I'm not a teacher, but i see it in my 14 year old niece. She has never had to do anything she didn't want to do and it shows. She has no relationship with anyone in the family. All she cares about is her video games. She ignores calls and text from her grandparents. It makes me sad but i have given up on trying to have a relationship with her. I can't force it. She has no desire to learn and her social skills are awful. She has no empathy and just says whatever she wants. It makes me very sad and scared for the future we have a generation of kids like this.

@mw6346 There is hope. I've seen this and some people grow up a lot and mature into loving adults. As long as they still feel loved, they may become more involved with family later. It's hard to compete with video games. It's hard to set expectations after they are already addicted. Kids who have limited time on tech handle limits better. Anyone playing over 2 hours a day probably has some level of addiction. It's a gateway to other addictions. Her parents should really encourage replacement activities that take up the time she would be on games. It might help...resistance expected. I know adults who gamed their childhood away and they are upset with their parents for letting them avoid real life. Thank you for sharing!

If these parents or whoever is raising these kids knows it all and knows everything, then why don't they just homeschool their kids themselves or pay someone who can homeschool their kids, if they don't want to be in the public or private school system? I'm just saying and I'm sorry for everything you have been through. You deserve better and hey, maybe you can always try working in a Lab setting, as you mentioned you also have a background in biology. I'm a disabled US Army Veteran and I have an educational background in chemistry or chemical engineering for patt of my undergradate degree as well. I'm in the process of going back to school in 2026 to continue on with my education in chemistry with a minor in computer science. Even after everything that I've been through, I've still managed to keep up with my schooling and education since I've been out of school and I've been teaching myself physical organic chemistry and differential equations for over two years now and its going well and I have a learning disability and testing anxiety. I don't make excuses for myself and I own up to my mistakes when I'm in the wrong and learn from my mistakes and do better when I've needed to learn and grow up at the time. I'm 35 and I hope if I ever do have kids someday that, they will appreciate and be just as passionate about school and learning as I am. I want to raise my future children right as well, as my parents have raised me and brought me up. If I ever got in trouble, I would be afraid to go home and come home to being in trouble with my parents, as it should be. Our parents are not here to be our friends. I'm close with my parents even now still, but we're not friends. I'm a substitute teacher right now and I love my job and I hope it stays that way. I always appreciate the feedback, transparency, and honesty from teachers who have been in the profession longer than I have and even the teachers who aren't as experienced who knows what they too are talking about, as well. In subjects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and even if it's on the computer, you still have to study and show effort and do the work in order to be successful and to grasp these exceptionally difficult subjects. In any subject however regardless of how much we like it or not, we still have to learn it and we might as well make the most of it and learn something and show the effort. I'm just saying. Also, I'm Chelsea by the way from College Station, Texas. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience as a teacher overall. As being a 1st year substitute teacher, I've worked with both high school and elementary school kids. I prefer and enjoy subbing for high school students and I'm always open to trying other grade levels outside of my comfort zone. I always ask for help when I need help. Those students and their parents who behave the way that they do, as I'm talking about the ones who haven't been respectful to you and haven't appreciated you for taking the time to work with their children who are being just as difficult, are wrong for that and I'm sorry on their behalf for the way that they have treated you and only thinking about themselves, as it's not only wrong but extremely inconsiderate and selfish of them as well. Hang in there and I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

@chelseasmith9242 Thank you, Chelsea. Some students do come to school with goals and aspirations, ready to learn. The polar opposites are larger now. There used to be just a few kids we would have to convince that learning is important. At the same time there are more less engaged, there are more who are hyper engaged. It's a strong split down the middle. Very challenging to have such a large number completely checked out. Simultaneously, it's hard to please the parents of some of the other half. Your background is impressive! It would be amazing if everyone was so enthusiastic about learning! ❤️

@@CryBabysSentimentalHomesteadHey! Thank you for your response and for your kind words. Absolutely, the educational system is continuing to struggle and it's quite sad and concerning not only with student behavior, as it's gotten increasingly worse during and after the pandemic, but especially after the pandemic, as kids today are exposed to way more than they should be because these parents have checked out and aren't as involved or as interested in their kids' lives as they should be, as the more technological based we've become, the more access that these kids have to technology and society and these parents give these kids a pass for toxic and bad behavior and you are absolutely right, as some of these parents are actually worse than their children, or whoever is raising these kids as not every child has one or both parents in their lives, as it's the parents or whoever is raising them that are the problem overall when it comes to their child misbehaving and when the behavior goes beyond just simply misbehaving and attention seeking that's beyond being a jokester or someone who wants to make everyone laugh but they still are mature and considerate enough to have respect for their classmates and teachers, as well as themselves to where they still do their work, so on and so forth. We all need a good laugh sometimes but there's a difference between making us laugh and when the student(s) are flat out lashing out and are a danger to themselves or everyone else around them, depending on the student and the situation.
