    Do you not like to use dubbin from docs for weatherproofing/waterproofing? my care kit came with both wonder balsam and dubbin. i just got a pair of jadon iii pisa after years of owning only smooth leathers and don't want to overcondition the softer pisa leather

    I know this video is a few months old but I need some advice for my first pair of Docs.
    I got my first pair yesterday for Christmas and I love them and slowly breaking them in. But they have a painted/printed design on them and I'm not sure how best to look after my shoes. I heard that the wonder balsam is bad for painted leather but I've not found any advice online for whether that's true or not, I'm also not sure how to polish them without ruining the design. Any advice is much appreciated 🙏

      is the design hand painted (like customized by an artist) or printed by dr martens themselves? if its printed, you can still use the wonder balsam

    Can the wonder balsem be used on arcadia docs too?

      i linked the one for arcadia's in the description! you probably could still use wonder balsam but it's not recommended because the arcadia's have a topcoat that's different than other docs

    how often do you need to clean and put the balm on a pair of smooth leather docs?

    • @fastisinthepast
      @fastisinthepast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can clean them whenever they look dirty or have a bunch of dust, and put the balm on every time you clean them, or if the leather just looks dry/you scuff them and need to buff it out

    But what if the stitching is really dark and filled with black shoe polish from the owner before?
    Is there a way to reduce/get rid of that?

    • @fastisinthepast
      @fastisinthepast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you can start by using soap/water to get what you can off, and then try using rubbing alcohol and see if that helps. you could also try using liquid detergent on them!

      it honestly probably isn't going to come off 100% but this could help
