Thanks a million for such a great video , a local co. wanted to charge me over $900 .00 to clean the burner , while new wall furnace cost $ 597.00.Thanks to you I am going to do it my self and save that cash for a holiday . Another co. wanted to charge $280 to move the electric for the new wall heater ,when I told them furnace has thermo couple producing 450 m volt and not 120 VAC they had no answer.
Hey, I just have to give you props for posting a great video, crammed full of good info. I've been seeking out information on youtube trying to troubleshoot my own wall heater problem for a few months now, and your 7:25 video is a gem. Good job... thanks
Thank you for this. Im allergic to dust mites and bern complaining 3 years about my wall heater. No one hasn't took it apart to deep clean it. He also put cheap paint. I been complaining about asthma attack and head aches
Great video. One of my wall heaters makes a loud banging noise. After watching this video, I'm thinking it could be a loose heat shield. Time to check it out!
Thanks for this. I have a Williams wall furnace that has the heat exchanger making a loud banging noise when the metal expands. Is that fixable? It sounds crazy but one person recommended hitting the metal with a hammer to dent it to stop the noise. Is that worth trying before I replace the whole thing? It's only about ten years old. Or can I replace just the heat exchanger?
Hi, this is sort of unrelated, but I'm wondering if this type of wall heater connects to the roof? We have one of these, but never use it, and today i heard something banging around in there...i really hope it's not a squirrel or a bird! it's quiet now, whatever it was, i hope it got out. I have no idea what to do. Your insight would be greatly appreciated!!!
Yes it typically connects to the roof. If you look at your roof, or if you go up there, you'll see typically a black pipe or a vent cap where it vents out. That's where the critter might have gotten inside. I put some metal mesh around the top of all 3 of mine. We had a bat come through our chimney once that our cat promptly killed. There's a chimney cap on there now :)
Well made video. Have you ever heard of these kinds of heaters short cycling, and if so what would be the cause or causes? Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
HOW TO UPTDATER A WALL HEATER LIKE THE ONE YOU SHOW IT'S A BAD GAS REGULATOR AND WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW GAS CONTROL REGULATOR AND THERMOSTAT BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF REGULATOR I CAN ADAPT TO IT. ANY BODY???????

I am in Los Angeles, and a company is trying to charge me $800.00 for cleaning, is that the Normal cost for this job?
Seems a little steep. I'd say $150-300 is typical. Only takes 1-2 hrs at most.
Thank you for this. I just called to find out about how this work and the woman was an idiot. This helps a lot.
Easy to see why lots of apartment owners are replacing their gas furnaces with smaller wall-mounted electric heaters in every room...less maintenance.
Man thank you very much very clear and concise video. Definitely got a Subs for me.
