Float island always does it for me. I would play this game while my family drove down to South Florida to see my grandmother. My parents HATED hearing my Gameboy music so they got me headphones. The bassline of float island always makes me think of warm weather, palm trees and my sweet sweet Gran, rest in peace granny, still thinking of you and all the good times we had together.
I remember just listening to float islands on my headphones from the game boy too. Came here just to find this song. Lovely story. Music is what we connect it to eh. What a banger
Hearing Castle lololo is like opening a core memory for me. This stuck with me since I was a little kid. Now it fills me with a spark whenever I hear or remember it
First game I ever played. First game I ever finished. This was my Dark Souls, with that new game +. Proud to finish this game at 7 years old eating through battery packs.
For some reason, for YEARS, I thought that the track from Castle Lololo was from Battle of Olympus for the NES, so for years and years, since I was a kid, I've been humming the Lololo theme in my head, until a few years ago I decided to look up the Battle of Olympus soundtrack and could not find the track. I was so sure that that track was from that game, until yesterday, I heard it in a cover of Green Greens that YamaYama did, and my mind was blown. Thankfully, I've finally found that song, and I still am not sure how I mixed those two up, as I don't remember if I had Kirby's Dream Land back then.
0:59 this is THE Kirby song. It’s the most well known song in the franchise, after all. If I think off Kirby, this is, 9 times out of 10 the song I think of. 👏👏👏
It's this one for me. We used to ONLY play this level in smash bros 64. And we played A LOT of smash bros 64..... th-cam.com/video/fZhDRgdI-rg/w-d-xo.html
I must have like 12 or 13 when I picked up the cartridge on a flea market for the cheap price and since I always liked kirby, and didn't have any kirby game. The music and art style blew my mind, if I remember correctly I played it non-stop that day until I too quickly completed easy difficulty. For the music, gameplay and story was so capturing, the ending made my cry. Then I played it from time to time until I managed to finish it on hardest ('Extra Game') difficulty (I believe there was another ending). To date, the soundtrack pops up in my head, it will never get old to me! One of my favorite games ever.
Ahhh man I remember this game, my Gameboy with a fresh set of batteries and headphones to go along with that thumpin' Gameboy bass that kicked ass along with this game.......
Intro Song still in my head since ive played this game back in 1992. In my opinion the whole ost is just magical esp. when u remember from which time this is
OK, that will sound extremely silly and ridiculous, and I don't know why I am even sharing this here, but when I heard "Mt. DeDeDe" the nostalgia, energy and almost tears in my eyes hit me so extremely hard I couldn't believe what was happening to my body and mind. I still feel kinda dizzy and amaze of what just happened.
I love that the Melee All-Star Rest area is a remix of the the Rest Area from Kirby Super Star which itself is a remix of the Float Islands theme, very good well done Nintendo you can do things right.
The story goes, the creator wanted him pink, a higher up wanted him yellow. By the time the US box art was made, his color was still being contested. Of course, the color pink eventually won, so he was pink on the Japanese box art. but the US?
@@CyborgHobbit42 The fact that Kirby was always pink was correct (mantained since the Japanese release),but the actual reason he was white in the game was different. Here's an excerpt from the book 'Playing With SUPER POWER': "Though Kirby's debut game,Kirby's Dream Land, was released on the Game Boy (which could only depict four shades of gray),Kirby co-creator Masahiro Sakurai had always envisioned the character as pink. The same can't be said of his colleagues who had expected Kirby to be yellow or white,so much that he was accidentally given a ghost-like hue on the box art for the North American release of Kirby's Drean Land,"
Lan Nguyen but people from back then didn't played to complete games, they've played just for the purpose to play. It actually was very uncommon to complete games no matter of the difficulty.

exactly. Improved. The games are longer, the awesome soundtracks are longer and the tracks arent reused nearly as much. All respect for the classics but only an idiot would deny that almost every aspect of gaming has improved
Anonymos185 In general, it's true that most aspects of gaming have improved. But I would say that very few games today have the same caliber of awesome, catchy, and instantly recognizable music as the old classics.

Thanks.
+turboparkour Not necessarily lazy, but this guy pointed us to the song times, which is fantastic.

just proves that video game music isn't just beeps and boops
Awesome story dude 🤝 RIP to your grandma, mine passed away this year so I know it’s tough! Always cool to read peoples stories about music
I remember just listening to float islands on my headphones from the game boy too. Came here just to find this song. Lovely story. Music is what we connect it to eh. What a banger
it's really impressive how Jun Ishikawa nailed it so hard on his first try
Jun Ishikawa is amazing, but sadly he don't receive a lot of credit
Hearing Castle lololo is like opening a core memory for me. This stuck with me since I was a little kid. Now it fills me with a spark whenever I hear or remember it
when i was a kid and my parents and me were driving somewhere far away for vacation i would always play this on my gameboy the entire car ride.
Oh hell yeah my dude
me too and it took me the whole vacation to play finish it once :D
this is my 2nd favorite kirb game and i remember it in detention

It's been used as a recurrent motif in modern Kirby games, to the point it's become pretty much Kirby's main theme.
This was the song I was looking for, indeed
9:39 (Power Up) and 12:43 (Mt. Dedede) are amazing.
I couldn’t have been older than like 7 when I first played this game and I still remember it vividly. Thank you for uploading such a classic
I’m only 11 but I can still appreciate a great game boy game

This shit still THUMPS 25+ years later!
Float Islands... I love this music.
I grew up with the DS port of super star, and it warms my heart to know that a lot of the songs are the same as in the first game. :)
The soundtrack of many car trips even at the cost of feeling sick by playing
Omg this is relatable on a spiritual level
Oh man. I totally understand this. Kirby was probably my favorite of my GBC games and I played it a lot
One of the better games I played growing up. Beaten this game several times over and still play this to this day
You have a gameboy in 2020?
@@AliBaba-oi2jk I still have a gamecube with a gameboy player
Tried listening to remixes, but for some reason they fail to capture the feel of this. Very memorable ost
👀
Like, I can't hate the SNES versions of these, but there's a special charm that the GB originals have.
This was my First Game ever. So much nostalgia
Happy Kirby music starts playing, automatically gives a like

The power up theme is so legendary
Ahh yes, back before Kirby was pink.
Kirby was always pink. They just made him white on the US cover because they were worried people wouldn't accept a pink hero.
Jason Cordes They wanted consistency, since the Game Boy was monochromatic. Wasn’t until Kirby’s Adventure on NES did they make him pink.
Actually, the creators couldn't agree on pink or yellow so, since the sprite appeared white in the game, the box art designers just made him white.
The story goes, the creator wanted him pink, a higher up wanted him yellow.
By the time the US box art was made, his color was still being contested. Of course, the color pink eventually won, so he was pink on the Japanese box art. but the US?

Oh wow green greens still rocks as hard as it did when I was in grade school. Wow.
I still recognize every single track.

HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY, KIRBY!
I played the crap out of this game as a kid. Never did complete it though. Was a big fan. Loved it. This brings back memories.
but its so ez
Extra Mode, though...

day 1 of listening every kirby game ost before Forgotten Land
rating: solid 8/10,very short but pretty good considering the limitations of the console
First game I 100 percented. This is the soundtrack of my I eternal mind when I go for walks. As good as it was back in the early ninties.
