I separated my shoulder trying to hit a gap jump called “The Compressor!”
      th-cam.com/video/IznTYWbdQGE/w-d-xo.html
I managed to do 20km single track for Ride for Heart 3 weeks later 90% recovered - over $1,400 raised so far so it was totally worth it!

It wasn't too recently but I was flying down the trail and came into a blind corner. There was a girl walking her dog and I had to fly off trail to crash. I rolled into a bunch of cactus. I guess I'm glad I didn't crash into them.

My last one: got up a short, sharp rock feature without enough speed or balance, rolled off to the side, and hit the ground 6ft down. THANK THE MTN BIKE GODS it was flat dirt (everywhere else has rocks, roots, stumps) but still broke a rib and damaged the shoulder. And the day was going so well till then too! 😝

This is what MTB is about for me. Going fast on a DH track or doing tricks is awesome, but for me riding gnarly stuff while staying in control is what I like the most in this sport. The level of skill and control shown here is mindblowing, even if something goes wrong at some point. Best MTB content on the internet, period.

Yes, I take it seriously. Like an Alex Honnald approach. If I am going to ride something I am very sure I can do it, I want to be good not lucky. And when these people are riding stuff like this, you can damn near call it Alex Honnald spec anyways. I can see Remy has the same approach.

@@zed5129 well don’t take it too seriously. It’s a mental concept / approach to managing risk, not comparing the actual sports. But still, some of these features these guys are riding, mistakes could result in death.

Not to diminish Remy's skill which I'm sure is legendary, but a big factor when breaking is also rider weight. Double mass means four time the break distance! (If I recall correctly. It's at least directly proportional but I'm pretty sure it's squared). So some things will just always be out of reach for bigger guys. Not the top shelves though hehehehahheahhoohoh 😂 (😭)

Steve’s an absolute champ for popping up after that crash. Nothing but respect for what you guys are doing.
Crashes like that are part of the sport unfortunately. Have plenty of scars from my riding but I’m no where close to your guys’ level. Honestly though, that pain, and learning from it, is what keeps me coming back to mountain biking. And the comradery of helping your riding partner get back on their bike and keep pushing… man, that’s the spice of life right there
