Here from Reddit! I’m brand new to the watch world (as in, just bought my first watch [Seiko SNSX77] yesterday). But, this Seiko 5 Pepsi is the reason I entered the community. A Timex Q reissue caught my eye and my buddy told me this Seiko would be a way better watch with the same general style. I didn’t buy this first because the price point was a bit higher, for a newbie. But I’m definitely in for a giveaway! Subscribed, great stuff.
See if you can find a new or used SKX009. Lacks the sunburst dial and drilled lugs of this 1 but it’s the real deal, an ISO certified diver! Just got a NOS for €300 😊

I wouldn't say amazing but I would say that I was a bit surprised by the quality. I do think that they are a great way to get into watch collecting for sure and they are probably far better than just about any other watch in the price category.

Got mine in the in the black dial and bezel version. Changed the strap for an aftermarket oyster style one and it feels much better than the stock one. This pepsi style also looks great and would be a nice additon to my collection!

That is awesome, congrats on the new watches. hope you like more than just Seiko and that you do decide to stay and help the channel grow but I will be covering a lot of brands mostly entry level luxury. The main thing I dislike about the inexpensive Seiko is the timeframe for the day/date change...if one were a night shift worker...all they would see is a mucked up day and date partially shifted in the window for like 4 hours.

@@BlueCollarLuxe yes, I know, but because it's basically just a better dial with a new movement in the same case as the older skx, people nicknamed it the 5kx (because it's in the 5 sports line).
@@BlueCollarLuxe it was for certain much more loved by anyone. It was budget friendly, very robust, durable and comfortable and it was an ISO certified diver's 200m watch and it looked more like a tool than a fancy watch. For a very long time it was "THE budget diver" to get. The new seiko 5 has an upgraded movement, a fancier dial but it lost the 200m WR and the ISO certification and seiko fans did not take this downgrade very well..

Love the red on the bezel for divers to know their low but it also goes well with the watch
I don't imagine divers using this watch or any dive watch these days. I would think they are using digital.

Got mine in the in the black dial and bezel version. Changed the strap for an aftermarket oyster style one and it feels much better than the stock one. This pepsi style also looks great and would be a nice additon to my collection!

New to the watch world but recently picked up two Seikos (Seitona and Mini Turtle). This Pepsi GMT is on my radar for my next watch, and will be keeping up with your uploads to hear what you think as a new Seikoist! 😅
That is awesome, congrats on the new watches. hope you like more than just Seiko and that you do decide to stay and help the channel grow but I will be covering a lot of brands mostly entry level luxury. I own the older seiko 5s.. These new ones isn't bad at all.

The main thing I dislike about the inexpensive Seiko is the timeframe for the day/date change...if one were a night shift worker...all they would see is a mucked up day and date partially shifted in the window for like 4 hours.
To be honest I have never owned a Seiko and did not know that so, good observation!

to me the skx was always the pepsi skx and the turtle was always the black turtle so this pepsi 5ks is the right choice.
The one in this video are the SRPD53
@@BlueCollarLuxe yes, I know, but because it's basically just a better dial with a new movement in the same case as the older skx, people nicknamed it the 5kx (because it's in the 5 sports line).
I don’t know very much about Seiko but I’m getting the vibe that the community thinks the SKX was a much better watch than the new 5.
@@BlueCollarLuxe it was for certain much more loved by anyone. It was budget friendly, very robust, durable and comfortable and it was an ISO certified diver's 200m watch and it looked more like a tool than a fancy watch. For a very long time it was "THE budget diver" to get. The new seiko 5 has an upgraded movement, a fancier dial but it lost the 200m WR and the ISO certification and seiko fans did not take this downgrade very well..
I have to say the watch has some downfalls but it would be hard to find a better watch in the same price range.
