Does anyone else get a cozy feeling when watching these videos or is it just me?
I cuddle in my blankie and just kick back in bed and enjoy.
me
Mav has a habit of doing that gorgeous boy ❤❤😂
His cooking empresses me at such a young man’s age
Yes especially the winter/snowstorm videos
That thumbnail just influenced the trajectory of my summer in 2024. It also motivated me to stay completely sober so I can reach my goals faster. Can’t wait to be out in nature camping soon!
It’s summer now! Did you hit your goals?!
We love mav
What a great game Saturday.

As someone who makes mac and cheese regularly, a few tips to avoid a gritty texture, Mav:
1: When making your roux, melt your butter until it starts foaming slightly and add the flour to this and cook it out. You can smell when this is done as it will smell nutty, then you can add your milk. Adding flour into the milk without cooking it can give you a floury/gritty texture and taste.
2: If possible, shred your own cheese. Nearly all packaged shredded cheeses use anti-caking agent to stop the cheese from clumping together in the bag which can make for a gritty texture, rather than a smooth one.
If you are finding your sauce becomes gritty, these are the 2 most common reasons why. Hopefully it helps. :)
i enjoy the gritty sauces and soups if done on purpose
Good call on both points. Watching him make the roux like that caused me pain.
I also used to make roux like that. Mav is getting better at cooking every year
These are just the perfect way to wrap up weekends. It’s tradition at this point
Mav never disappoints. He is living life for the fullest!
Man I get so happy when I see these Sunday night videos, makes my whole day, love ya Mav

Where does he poop?
Just found your channel, actually made my night a whole lot better. So relaxing and enjoyable, gave me time to think a little bit. Thank you so much Mav!
Time to binge watch he has lotsa great videos been watchin him over 3yeare
I just finished my truck camping build and you motivate me to start filming it! Camped in the truck a couple times before but with just a tent. Now I have a cap and full wood build going on, first trip this weekend. Love watching your videos for inspiration on what things I might be forgetting/ ideas on what to add. Keep it up and thanks for the entertainment
shoutout to Mav for the consistent and entertaining content! These videos are so relaxing and comforting to watch.
These videos are therapeutic.
I absolutely LOVE these videos, these are the perfect youtube videos you watch before going to sleep, so peaceful and cool. Never stop making these videos!
I absolutely adore watching your videos! Your food content is not just delicious but also heartwarming. As someone who deals with severe social anxiety and often eats alone at home, your videos make me feel like I have a friend enjoying a meal with me. Your genuine enjoyment of each dish is infectious, and it reminds me that even in the solitude of my own space, there's a world of flavor and joy waiting to be explored. Thank you for being a comforting presence in my life and for helping me feel less lonely through your wonderful content! 🍽😊
No one cares
@@Haqbrothers797 Is there anyone under 40 these days who doesn't pretend to have some sort of "anxiety" or feels triggered? People today are so weak and self centered.
@@robertheintz8017there is lmao , most people actually
@@robertheintz8017weird that since you don't have anxiety nobody else has it either then huh
@@davesyoutubechannel1951 I have experienced anxiety, depression, poverty, and much more. It is called life! I just don't bitch about it and look for pity and attention.
Life is a garden. Dig it! Lovin’ these type of videos. Any anxiety or stress just vanishes watching these types of vids! Keep on trucking, Mav ya cool mother trucker! 🤝
pro tip:
add the flour to the melted butter, then spend a couple minutes cooking just those 2 ingredients in the pan until it starts to go a very light caramel color, then add in a little milk and stir until it's combined, then slowly add in the remaining milk while stirring.
also, you want the same amount of flour as butter. so 1 Tablespoon butter and 1 Table spoon flour
i know it might seem like an unnecessary step, but doing it this way will keep you from getting lumps of flour, or that gritty texture you mentioned. also creating a proper roux this way will add some good flavor, which would help with the lack of flavor you mentioned.
and if you need another reason to do it this way, raw or undercooked flour can contain some pretty bad bacteria that can make you very sick, and could of easily contributed to the discomfort you felt after eating. you most likely cooked it long enough, but all it would take is 1 little lump of flour that didn't cook all the way through and you could get hit by E.coli and spend the next week with abdominal cramps and peeing out your butt, and you're super unlucky your kidneys might even shut down.
flour and things that contain raw flour like pancake or cake mix even gets recalled for reasons like this, but most people have no clue, but that's why you should also never eat raw cookie dough, or lick the beaters after mixing up a cake or brownies or anything with raw flour.
so ya, that 1 little step of making a proper roux will add flavor, give you a better texture, help keep you from getting sick, and just give you a much higher chance at making a better end product in general.
oh! and next time try the "ethnic foods" isle near the sriracha, soy sauce, and baked beans for cans or jars. and if the chipotles aren't there you can look in the spice/baking isle for dried and powdered chipotle.
when you add milk to a roux it is a bechamel, when you add cheese to a bechamel it is a mornay sauce.
@@DustyKid75no that doesn't sound right
@@DustyKid75 you are absolutely correct. But I figured adding in words that most people don't know would make it less likely for them to finish reading the comment, and it was already a long comment, so very few people will finish reading it just because of its length.
Basically I wanted to explain it in a way that anyone could understand
@@smith6ar it actually is. But they are words that are not so commonly known to people who have not worked in more upscale restaurants. Actually, most other chefs I know who have worked in very nice restaurants probably don't even know them, because a lot of the time the kitchen staff would just say cheese sauce
oh i should have read the comments before i made my comment, i advised the same thing >.
Very inspiring mav, I've been a viewer for a long time. Your ability to live the life you want and adventure so much while profiting off your own content is so cool. I'm only 25, you're living the dream man!
Buffalo is a colloquial name for the Bison, because they are reminiscent, but not related to, water buffalo. Also, almost guaranteed that the Ground Bison is actually a "beefalo" cow/bison hybrid
They a part of the same family but completely different animals. Still amazed at Americans who don't know the difference.

I love how the big branch snap spooked ya outta that honey hole on the creek..,lol
Dude, you gotta get out of that Ford and get yourself a real truck
Shoutout from Tillamook here! I haul milk from our local dairies to the Tillamook creamery. That cheese you got, I brought the milk for! Awesome to see a little touch of home in your vids, Mav! I really enjoyed tonight's episode. ITs like hanging out with a buddy and listening to his stories. Have a good one, Mav.
Tillamook also has a tour of their facility, 50 years ago, as a child on a road trip we took a tour it was really primitive, the new facility is much more high-tech... when you have too many children vacationing in the station wagon with two boxer dogs factory tours are cheap entertainment, Warehouse are used to also have a tour of there Presto type logs.. lots of interesting tours in Oregon Washington.. Buffalo is usually very lean, I can get it at my Wholesale grocery store in Patty's very inexpensively..
Tillamook easily the best in store dairy brand. Delicious, affordable and easy to get. Ice cream is actually to die for too lol
Makes me miss wyoming. Best time of my life right there. Saw elk, coyote, bear, grouse, rattle snakes. Mule deer, antelope, ram, moose. Great fishing everywhere. The cattle. Wild horses.
Good life out there

Hey Mav. Most excellent video. Your cooking skills in rustic conditions is really impressive. I can't say for sure what you specifically have encountered, but often when making a cheese sauce, it is recommended to add the cheese while off the heat. Too much heat when mixing the cheese into the milk and roux can cause a grainy texture. Keep on trucking!
totally did not expect to hear Stars by HUM at 4:30, great stuff
Bro chilling with Mav on a Sunday is the best way to end a weekend.
Tip on preventing that gritty texture from the flour: add your flour to your butter before the milk and let it cook slightly, then add the (cold) milk while stirring. 👨🍳
I was wanting to say the same thing but still good looking nonetheless
You should cook the flour in the butter until the flour is starting to turn golden, otherwise it tastes like library paste.
Ahh here's my cooks. Yes I am not a perfect chef but I do know that the Rue is flour and butter and adding milk makes it a bechamel. Mav please know your French cooking terms or we will taunt you a 1000 times. JK. But yes. This is correct
Also here to add equal parts butter and flour. ✌️
I was screaming at the tv
This is why i love my toyota truck, never disappoint
My dad had an 05 F150 and got a 21 F150 7 months ago. Great upgrade, you should look for a newer F150, and set it up the same.
@captain_coleton 04 here w/386,000 miles runnin' like a dream
God I love these videos
Put your flour in with your butter to make a roux so that the flour taste can kinda cook off then add your milk or broth to get it to the consistency it needs to be.
You are a blessing to humanity.. I wish you everyone had a nice heart like yourself.
Theses videos bring me back down to earth so calming and fun to watch
Dear Mav, that's not how you make a roux. Next time, melt your butter, add flour and have the flower absorb the butter. Then bake it until you smell cookies! Then add your stock/milk/cream. Try to make ragout, vol au vent, or scalpicon as wel. Scalpicon is the basis for croquettes. Have fun, from Friesland!
Can you try and make a mexican platter next? On a mellow adventure, I recommend chilaquiles with 2 eggs and some mexican cheese. With mexican bread at night to finish the video!
Sundays always get better when I see that mav video pop up!
Maverly! The scenery never disappoints. Was fun to see da buffalo, too!
Just want to let you know how much I appreciate you mav
Mav always uploads bangers i don’t even have to watch it to know it’s a banger
I see you finally got a Gun for protection good for you MAV! Stay safe out there.
Pretty sure it’s bear spray lol
That mac and cheese looked banging!! Why do I watch these at night?! It always makes me so hungry!!
Bro, that dish takes me back. My late mom used to make something similar. Burger instead of bison, shells instead of mac. And she did a 3-5 cheese blend. But it looked so familiar. Miss you, mom. Thanks Mav.
The boxed version is called, Hamburger Helper.
@@Jeremiah7-ox2nj Maybe. But mom put it together herself. No pre-made kits for her family.
these sunday night uploads fuel me for the week I swear. thanks for all the joy Mav
Go Mav Go!
That quick hit of the song Stars by Hum was a nice surprise!
Let's go! There's nothing like a Mav upload before bed!
When making a roux, cook the flour in the butter first, continuously stirring, until it turns a light tan color, then add the milk or cream. You won’t be disappointed and it will be smooth.
Mav pours flour into a mixture of milk and melted butter and calls it "a roux". Where I come from we call that pancake batter.
Always wondered if Mav packed any protection incase of unwanted visitors through the night and at 23:33, I got my answer. Good!
What a great way to end my weekend, Like always Thanks Mav!
you're good man, Mav.
We love you!
I enjoyed this. Thank you Mav.
Several years ago I went to casting for recovery ,I caught the first fish it was a great weekend fly fishing- great way to heal from cancer

I was an exchange student in Wyoming back in 91/92 and spent some time in Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. What an absolutely outstanding naturally beautiful part of the world and also amazing people.
Tip. Put the flour in first, then the butter and cook for a bit then add the milk.
That bison mac looked crazy good, want to try to make it sometime
Jackson is an AWESOME little town. Definitely recommend hiking around Grand Teton National Park and checking out the town itself a bit more next time you are out there. Great food and even better views! Amazing video as always mav!
Sheeesh Mav got the blick always strapped, awesome vid man
mav always find a way to inspire me to get out into the nature more often and go on fun trips and explore ❤
Darn, where’s the oven when you need them. Melted crunchy cheese on top!!! Yum! But we’re camping aren’t we!!!😎
Like how? What did I win? Yeeeyyy!!!😎
Hey, MAV, love your videos but may I ask that you please release them by 9:30pm Eastern time so us old folks can catch it before bedtime? Thanks. I haven’t been to Jackson in many years but I used to live in WY and actually knew a guy who rode a horse into the million dollar cowboy bar. Got jail time for that!😂
Dude I pray you get the best truck ever ! Amen
Mav, it’s worth the money bro. That’s your signature vehicle man! Nicely done bro 👍🏻👍🏻✊
Been living here for the last year and a half - and it has been one of the raddest experiences, I’ve got to say, the fall here is unreal with all the colors and the wildlife - if you like sledding, the winter time is also epic
Dang probably missed you at that spot by a couple days. The fly shop gave you some good advice. We love that river ! If you hike all the way to where both forks meet the fishing is outrageous. Love the contnet man! Also thanks for bringing bear spray....they are thick up there.
Mav listening to Stars by Hum is such an amazing duo
Poor white truck seems to be suffering from all the miles Mav has put on it 😂
Happy Fish’n! MAV RULES
Love your content, Mav!❤
Definitely gonna make me some stacked mac for dinner tomorrow night!
Mav, thanks for inspiring my little boy and me to go adventure - even if that means going out to our front or back yard to find something new and interesting.
Keep making aspiring content. Thank you from us both!
Tuck 👍🏼
Fly fishing is art in motion❤❤
If you add the flour to the butter before adding the milk, you shouldn’t get that gritty texture. Also, make sure not to make your cheese sauce on too high of a heat, because that’ll cause a grittier texture too.
Also, add a bit of American cheese to get a really creamy sauce. The America cheese has emulsifiers in it that help the fats not separate which causes the gritty texture.
Always look forward to Mav's Sunday night videos
Good to see you Mav, seem like it was a pretty smooth trip, except for the truck issues. The scenery was beautiful. Keep Truckin.❤
Its always a good time with Mav and hey , you didnt get eaten by a grizzly either, lol, seeing you in the white truck is cool, your ac probably just needs Freon like mine did man, that truck can last you a long time bro. Cheers

I love how mav keeps correcting himself by saying buffalo but proceeds to put buffalo in the name 😂 love the running jokes in your videos
am i the only one who thought he meant buffalo sauce mac n cheese
4:28 dude I love your music taste, listening to Circling The Drain by Microwave love that band
Be careful dude, if a bear throws a bluff run at you, you won't be able to defend yourself, so I suggest you buy bear spray.
5:25
@@jackbryam4165The spray is not effective, you have to spray it in the bear's eyes, so you will fight with all kinds of bears, I know from Russia 😂
Its been a while since i watched your videos, I've been so busy, like really busy hhahahhaha, anyways your videos always brings comfort whenever I'm watching it. Stay safe Mav!

That morning shot was beautiful. Gorgeous!
fishing and camping in turpin meadows is literally the HEART of grizzly country. Lived there my whole life and I don't have the balls to do that.
Thanks for making the best comfort videos
I know the white truck has problems because it’s so old but man do I never get sick of seeing you camp in it. I love that truck so much. The white exterior with tinted windows. So sexy.
Mav you should 100% do a fishing catch and cook that would literally make me so happy
Need to make a video camping with outdoor boys preferably winter!!
His videos always make me want to go do what he’s doing!
Hope this guy posts for as long as possible
Mav, for a flawless roux, you need equal parts fat and flour. Melt your fat, add your flour and cook until its smooth. Slowly add you liquid stirring constantly. No lumps, smooth creamy texture.
One of the best weeks of my life was van camping in teton national Park. Cooking good food...bumming around with my best friend. I think we even had some hum playing like u Mav.... thank you for this. I gotta get back out there..... "out back counting stars"
