One of them was that Linichuk tried to get rid of them after 1996 because she wanted to lead Kyrlova & Ovsiannikov to the gold medal in 1998. Of course, I'm not an insider so it's impossible for me to say what really happened since all of this is hearsay (not to mention off the internet which you have to take with a grain of salt). I'm not 100 percent sure if any of the parties involved (Grishuk, Platov, Linichuk, Karponosov) ever confirmed anything.
I'm pretty sure I saw an interview with Platov where he said it was Oksana 's idea to leave because Linichuk was focusing on Krylova. He said Oksana caught on to what was happening quicker than he did and told him they should look for another coach @@gk891
