      Idw to get too political online I try so hard ha! But this!! I don’t understand either!?? I understand that some Christians just blindly must vote republican it doesn’t matter who it is!! Evil or not! The hilarious thing is? Trump isn’t republican! He didn’t start out that way but he knew with the Midwest and down south Christian’s ( and yes to my north east rednecks ehh ) he had a chance!! And it’s sad and bizarre how blindly they will follow someone who isn’t even truly a Christian!! Ha it’s scary it’s sooooo scary! To me when you’re wearing a Trump shirt? It tells me: you’re probably a racist you’re probably rude sooo many things… don’t come for me lol

      The short answer is abortion. I believe it was Jerry Falwell Sr. that blamed abortionists, feminists, and “gays” for 9/11, and basically made it his life’s mission overturn Roe. He was I believe also one of the big players in creating the Christian right voting block, because until Reagan came along, Christians, specifically white, Anglo Christians, didn’t really vote and didn’t really engage in politics. It must be said that black Americans have always been very active in politics, and one place that was a hub for political engagement was church. They continue to this day to be the biggest and most active supporters of the Democratic Party. They always show up to the polls without fail, they have the highest turn out rate, especially black women, but for some reason they get attacked constantly in the media for not turning out. I would also argue prior to Reagan’s election you can see the growth of a Christian right movement and Christian nationalism during the Nixon administration, but I digress. This context is necessary because abortion rights were a huge part of getting Christians to vote and radicalize them to the right. Jerry Falwell also said something to the effect he wanted to be able to die with Roe overturned, that’s what I mean it was literally his life’s mission because that ultimately didn’t happen, but he was extremely successful in making it happen. He was able to create a movement to make it happen, get many politicians, laws, and judges in place to basically make the US into a pseudo-Christian state.
      Also to flash forward to now so we aren’t talking about last century, Mitch McConnell kept blocking Obama during his last year of his presidency to appoint Merrick Garland as the next Supreme Court Justice, arguing that since it was an election year, the next president should decide. Then when Trump came into office, he was able to put three judges in, including “I like beer” Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barret,who was sworn in during the last couple of months of Trumps last presidency. He also was able to swear in a hundreds of judges in the lower federal courts, as McConnell did the same thing there too, so they could make it so the federal court system is mostly Republican. So yeah, that’s why Roe is overturned, and I believe the recent Alabama IVF decision is tied to the Roe decision as well. So Christian nationalists like Trump because he’s made it possible roll back a bunch of rights they don’t like.

    I do not love gender dysphoria. It constantly filled my thoughts for 30 years and didn't go away until I got gender affirming care and since I got that care I have become better at my career, better at problem solving, a better spouse and a better friend because a portion of my brain is no longer devoted to constantly thinking about how I'd be happier as a woman.
    Also as a Christian, worship is better now. I have more to be thankful for and I have a church where I know they will accept me no matter what.
    I wouldn't wish gender dysphoria on my worst enemy. I have finally been able to improve other emotional issues I had now that the dysphoria is mostly gone.
    Honestly I don't understand why anyone would say something like that to you. Gender dysphoria sucks.

      I'm not trans just hella queer so feel free to provide any feedback needed. But I wonder if that person was trying to explain how they love their transness?? How being trans is an intrinsic part of who they are and they've gotten to a part where they love themselves for being trans and they might not have realized that without the dysphoria?? Because I've also never heard anyone say that they loved the dysphoria, but I have heard people explain that they love their transness once they feel at home in their body. It is strange that someone would say it like that though.

And although the reasons for my deconstruction has been due to church trauma and for a while I swore off listening to anything Christians had to say, listening to your videos has helped heal some parts of my trauma due to your honesty, empathy and also because you often approach biblical "truths" through the lens of context. Hey B!
    First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I saw your community post and I gasped!!
    I'm still amidst the video so not sure if you'll cover it but I just wanted to drop some Starbucks info for anyone who wants it!
    So I was a Starbucks barista for 3 years (2020-2023) and there are actually a lot of issues contributing to this boycott and I'm so glad it's finally gaining traction!!
    I wont make this too long so i'll just make some brief points:
    - No, Starbucks is not on the official BDS list. The reason for this is because the goal of the BDS movement is to target a small group of the MOST impactful corporations funding Israel, but this doesn't mean not to boycott them in solidarity with Palestine! They just weren't one of the companies sending direct funding to Israel in large amounts, nor donating free meals to the IDF like McDonalds was.
    - Last one in reference to Palestine: The issue between Starbucks and the union was that when the union put out a very non-offensive support for Palestine (which is pinned on their instagram page) Starbucks said ".....We disagree with the statements and views expressed by Workers United and its members." which was the reason a lot of folks were angry at their distancing themselves from the support of the Palestinian people.
    - Starbucks has a host of labor issues which I've experienced first hand, but the biggest being: unsafe working conditions, hour gouging, SEVERE understaffing, over-hiring to get folks to quit because they aren't getting the hours they need to pay their bills, messing with peoples timecard punches and affecting their pay, misleading advertising about their healthcare coverage (specifically gender-affirming care), and the biggest of all being their union busting. I tried to unionize my store and the second the district caught wind we had "listening sessions" where they split us up based on who was pro-union and who was against (this was confirmed) and we lost 20 votes after those meetings. On top of some heinous things said to our pro-union group.
    This wasn't as short as I wanted it to be lol, but I hope this can help someone understand the premise of the boycotts!
    Much love and a Free Palestine

    The most annoying thing about her whole rant is that not going to target or starbucks is something that is EASY to be perfect in. If you REALLY believe that you should not go there, it’s actually super easy to simply go to other stores. The way she is so forgiving to herself for not being perfect in something that is so easy to be perfect in, while being so upset about someone experiencing a thought or feeling of gender dysphoria makes me sooo angry

    "...who tries her best to steward every dollar where it goes..." @35:43
    It seems that I never hear these individuals have any reflections on labor rights (unions), fair trade practices (coffee, cocoa), child labour (coffee, cocoa), sustainability (btw, thanks to her for driving her presumably gas car to Starbucks to drink water out of a plastic cup for no reason and add to our planet's landfills and ocean pollution...).
    When you truly dig into these topics, you realize that our comfortable lifestyle relies on horrible exploitation of the Global South.
    Personally, that is where I lose sleep. Not on "demonic" logos and individuals choosing to get abortions.

    i'm still stuck on why she would need to go out to starbucks for a cup of water? granted i don't live in the US so i don't know what the tap water situation is like but... it seems very performative. and silly.

    • @TaylorX3
      @TaylorX3 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I don't live in Texas, but the tap water in the US is generally fine(excluding Flint, Michigan, and some parts of Mississippi). We often have filtration systems in our fridges, so that would be an additional option if she didn't want to drink tap water. Also, she can get water at a multitude of fast food establishments or gas stations.

    • @de5072
      @de5072 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I live in Texas and our sink tap water in most major cities is fine to drink. And given the area she's in, her water at home is fine and probably has a fridge dispenser that is filtered. I live in a small town and live off well water and even that is fine for us.

    • @wombatnumbat989
      @wombatnumbat989 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      And why not just stop at a gas station and get water there?! She IS supporting Starbucks even just by getting water there.

    • @cunningtricksterrabbit
      @cunningtricksterrabbit 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't live in Texas but I live in America, and I have a water filter jug that I fill with water and keep in my fridge to drink from, because I don't like the way my tap water tastes but that is a personal thing. I can still technically drink my tap water I just don't enjoy the flavor it has unless it comes from my filtered water jug. So I think everyone is a little bit different and it does depend on where you live.

    • @MM_MTea
      @MM_MTea 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Water treatment is typically done at the city level, so it can vary depending on where you live. In most places it is safe to drink. Some people prefer the taste of bottled or filtered water, imo a lot of that is whatever you're used to tastes "right" to you.

    I’m non binary, have friends and family who experience gender dysphoria, and I am a bioethics student who is working on eliminating the stigma and digging into societal problems with gender dysphoria. I sooooo appreciate you trying to understand and think critically about this topic, and addressing it.
    It is a complicated subject of course, but someone who is happy with their experience of gender (even if they are trans or otherwise gender non conforming) would likely say they’re gender euphoric. That said, gender dysphoric people can be happy with their gender, but still experience dysphoria and want to transition. The way I see it is that there is nothing inherently wrong with people with gender dysphoria, but societal structures make it very difficult to be gender non conforming. Many common, everyday experiences for people with gender dysphoria are often really difficult, and that burden may be lifted through transition. Though of course, there is also something to be said for the way people see themselves/feel apart from how society sees them, and transitioning can also help with that.
    I hope this comment is somehow helpful even though I’m months late… just want to add and say thank you for talking about it even though it can be a bit unnerving to address something you aren’t 100% sure on! Also, I’m not really an expert or an authority on this topic even if I’m interested in it, these are just my thoughts :)

    Hi B I'm farther in the video now lol,
    On the topic of gender dysphoria:
    I am trans, and the phrasing "I love my gender dysphoria" strikes me as interesting? but people feel how they feel and I'm by no means the spokesperson for trans people lol.
    Personally, it is distressing for me but I know that not all trans folks experience dysphoria. Transness can be solely based on gender EUphoria, which is awesome! I'm personally looking to get breast reduction surgery to ease my dysphoria, but not everyone seeks surgeries. I know there are trans women who choose not to get bottom surgery and vice versa for trans men! I think the analogy you made was okay, but I would hesitate to 1. bring folks with disabilities into the conversation, because it's also a commentary on their relationship with their body that we don't really know about, and 2. stray into the 'born in the wrong body' trope that has been weaponized against trans people in the media for ages. There are plenty of trans people who feel that their body is their body, and that they weren't born in the wrong one (me included!) there's just some minor tweaks to be made to make us feel more at home :). I personally love my body, and in order for me to feel more comfortable in it I am choosing to tweak it. Born in the wrong body sort of implies a fundamental flaw in trans people that is unfixable, which isn't the case

    • @madelinerussell4522
      @madelinerussell4522 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your comment! I thought it was really insightful for those that don’t experience it and it puts it into a better perspective since a lot of media typically shows in one facet instead of the many facets that are gender dysphoria or gender EUphoria.

    Thank you for speaking about different reasons why people are/were boycotting Starbucks. I haven't heard people claiming the company would be sending money to "Israel", I only know that the organic boycott now is due to suing their employee union for their pro-Palestine post. I love that you are speaking against false claims!
    Personally I am boycotting them for suing the union as this sends a message to other companies to treat unions fairly AND that pro "Israel" companies will be losing money. It is the only language big companies speak.

    First of all - congrats! What an exciting time in your life! I hope it’s a wonderful journey for you.
    Regarding abortions….I have never had one, it’s not a choice I would make for myself (mom of 6 children). BUT, it is not ok for me to make that choice for anyone else. Even if there was no abuse that led to someone deciding to terminate a pregnancy, that’s not an easy decision, and one that will stick with that person for the rest of their life. A woman that’s in that position, making that choice, needs compassion and grace. Not the judgmental condescension Brittany Dawn is spouting. Additionally, banning abortion denies women what can be life saving treatment. It’s one of the worst decisions I think the Supreme Court has allowed the states to make (coming from a state that decided to make abortion illegal).
    The more videos I see of Brittany Dawn just makes me feel like she’s at the maturity level of a 7 year old girl (again, coming from someone who has had a few kids lol). My second daughter just turned 8, and will parrot any belief or thought someone tells her if she trusts/respects them. She does not think about how she really feels, but will completely change herself to align with this new view. I see Brittany doing this CONSTANTLY.

    I'm sure this isn't the first video Brittany's done about starbucks and I'm sure it won't be the last, but it pains me just how...selfish and capitalistic her faith seems to be. She's making all these videos about "don't support this company because they support gay people" when in reality the company she's talking about it a mega-corporation that's engaging in rainbow capitalism (which doesn't support queer people, but acts like it does to turn a profit). But she's not critiquing anything of value, like companies that exploit employees, she's purely focused on unchecked conspiracies. Brittany Dawn bothers me because her faith is one that is rooted in individualism. It cares nothing about anyone other than herself. Literally so many of her videos are about things that truly do not matter. It cares nothing about the oppressed and is concerned with upholding the status quo. It treats Christianity as a prop for her to exploit and use for her own gain. As a Christian, one that is concerned for this world (over 34,000 people in Palestine are dead, millions are displaced in Sudan, and the Congo is being exploited!!! there is so much going on to be concerned about!!!) I'm disgusted that her faith is concerned with something so unimportant. There are actual reasons to boycott Starbucks, why are you worried about the logo?!??
