I love your fabrication skills and patience. I, too grew up having to make things "work". Now that I'm 70 years old and still retain those skills, I would not change a thing. I've done it with my hot rods, all my mechanic work, repairing home wiring, plumbing, lawn mowers, and my electronics. I hold no respect for people who call themselves repairmen, or mechanics, when in reality all they do is replace parts. Great job, BBI, nicely done on the meter. I know to most people this looks like an insignificant task, but believe me, I know what that took. My brand new antenna get "improved". My amps and radios get "improved". It's extremely refreshing to see a true craftsman at work. Well done, lad!

My friend and I used components from scrapped TVs all the time. There was a great comic in Popular Electronics where the sales person is clipping a component out of a hidden hanging chassis and asking the customer, "Did you say 0.1 at 500v?" (or something similar)

great job on a older DX 400. not as many around. I got DX 500 not the V . played with tune few days to brod band. lost a few PEP watts but got it to work all over. I did not put attenuator inside for 7300. I did take out keying transistor and put RCA jack for PTT. Them powerpole are pretty good and they have big ones. I put PP75 on my 7300. same as SB50 but red/black . never had one so clean except new in box.73's

OK. When you first said he sent 2879s I was thinkig "NOW he will have to mod the amp as those came with 2290s!" Which would make it a TX Star 500.

I am from South Africa and enjoy the content but it seems youtube is putting adds before and after all the videos i watch and i don't think the creators are getting the revenue from it this pisses me off i used to use youtube vanced to get rid of the adds but they stoped development on it and it no longer works great video like always mr bbi

I hate to be that guy but, you modded a amp to work on the amateur radio band’s property and it’s a secret? Then you say you never want to do it again? I truly am confused………
