Very cool. Glad this helped. I think SEPTA regional rail from PHL is a great option (time and money) versus ridesharing. Thanks for the heads up about the contactless payment option!
Same here. Taking a second and quick trip to Philly tomorrow and plan to take full advantage of SEPTA. It’ll be great to use what I would have spent on Uber to enjoy the city more.
It is easy to do, I did so back in July, I drove to my local station (New Britain on the Lansdale =Doylestown regional rail) Changed train at Jefferson, just walked across the platform. You are correct on the importance of checking schedules and train times. Things worked out this time because my flight was later in the morning. I did have to catch the first t rain out from New Britain @ 5:20 am. I was at PHL by 7:30. I did have a long wait until my flight at 11, but it was worth it. On my return trip, things did not work out as well. It was Sunday, SEPTA does not run on the same schedule as weekdays so I had a longer wait at the airport and then a longer wait @ Jefferson for my train to New Britain. I have a fondness for using SEPTA, particularly since I am of the age that rides for free as a Senior Citizen!
@@robertmiller8336 Gald it worked for you. Yes! SEPTA weekend schedules are more limited than the weekdays. Weekend travelers should check the train schedules first.
We're headed to Philadelphia in 3 weeks. After seeing the Uber pricing, this video has eased my mind into knowing we'll be ok getting to Center City using Septa! I truly appreciate the video! Keep up the great work! 👍 💯

@@Clementinee I am pretty sure the daily pass does not work for rides to/from the airport (from SEPTA website) - "Travel rates on the Airport Line from Philadelphia International Airport apply at all times. They are based on the station you go to and your payment method. The same rates apply to reverse trips out to the airport.". Let me know ow if you find out differently!
Easy, unless you need to use it on a weekend and have an hour wait after just missing a train like I did recently, on a Saturday. They need half-hour service at a minimum at all times.
Yes, I wish service was more frequent on the weekends. Especially if your flight determines when you will arrive (your only option is to wait). At least on the return you can arrive close to the scheduled departure. My experience has been that the trains are generally on schedule....generally....
@@JohnDoe-Gardening_Travel I heard that SEPTA would be providing half-hour service to PHL on the weekends and holidays, and just checked the new Fall schedule, and they've done it! A miracle! LOL.
You are right! The website still says hourly service to/from PHL however the train schedules effective Sept 8th show service every 30 mins (to Center City stations at least). Much more convenient! Thanks for the heads up!
Depends on when and where you are leaving from. Take a look at the train schedules here. www.septa.org/schedules Assuming the timing works for you, the easiest thing to do is to leave from the Olney SEPTA regional rail station (on the Fox Chase line) that heads toward the Jefferson Station. SOME (depends on which train you get on) of the trains continue to the airport. If the ti.ing does not work for you then you will have to get off at Jefferson and transfer to a train that goes to the airport. Hope that helps! You can use SEPTAs trip planner on The website as well to look at other options depending on your departure times.
Used this today - thank you so much! From plane to lunch at Reading Market - went off without a hitch.
Glad it helped!
Thank you. Your video is perfect. I get nervous, so this helps me a lot.
Wonderful, glad it helped!
thx dude, saved me some uber money. on their website, they were supposed to roll out contactless payments for rail during the summer.

Thanks for posting. Heading to Philly on Monday and compared Uber to SEPTA. I'll take the train from the airport to Center City for sure.
SEPTA Regional rail is a really good option! I hope it works out for you!

Wonderful! My wife went in January on a girl's trip and it worked flawlessly. Hope you enjoy Philly!😊
Can you ride from the Int'l Airport directly to Temple University Station without switching trains?
Yes, check out the schedules here!

If I ride the train to Jefferson station, can I transfer to a subway or bus with the same ticket?
No. It is a separate fare to transfer from Regional Rail (including the Airport line) to the bus/subway system.
@@joesmith8821 Thanks for the information. That makes sense to me now.
If you bought a ticket just to ride the train. that's all it's good for.
Buy a key card but seriously you'd have to buy another quick trip
