This is WAY cooler than I thought it would be! Holy shit, civil engineering on the seabed, plus using submarines to install equipment. This hits the spot for an engineer. That the good shit!
Retired mechanical engineer worked 45 years for major multinationals SHELL, TOTAL, BLUEWATER on new built FPSO’S, FSU, Rigs and also Hook Up ultra deep water > 2000 mtrs West Coast of Africa, Nigeria, Angola, Congo, etc ... loved the working environment every day! Plse include the Pile Installation ... not many people realise that Piles are installed in the seabed for various structures ... Nice presentation 👏
It's truly amazing how they are able to keep track of all these pipes, connections and wells especially underneath the ocean where visibility is not ideal. Let's not forget about the saturation divers , the real workers with huge balls. Without them this couldn't be possible. They work in extremely mind boggling dangerous depths and have one of the most dangerous jobs , hats off to them. Truly amazing 💩💩
this is FASCINATING, i never batted an eye at oil rigs but recently wanted to know how they work. I was so confused and the methods used for drilling and processing oil in the ocean are so advanced. I am in disbelief that we do this on a daily basisXD great video, super informative and really well put together! thank you!
This is not an oil rig man , in this video SURF ( subsea, umbilicals, risers, flowlines) installation was explained, drilling is how you get the pressure up from the bottom of the sea bed which requires drill ship, or jack up barge and build the well head where the oil is coming from. I highly recommend to watch this kind of videos .
I am a training in oil and gas company, this video is really helpful and I just want to thank the people who made such a great job. than you very much, God bless you and keep the gray job.
Wow this is a clear and crisp explanation. I'm now working on this project 😁 this video will give my workers a clear explanation about the subsea structure. Thanks mate
Your voice is so much better than the robot voice. Thanks for restoring it. As always, great job with this. Best to you. I always learn such interesting things here.
lol, as said in a previous comment, *love your work!* just wanted to toss-out some potential video ideas, in case you are ever short of 'em... ;) 1) how does the international high-speed communications network work? 1') how does "the internet" actually work? 2) how does a municipal water distribution and treatment system work? 3) what is the process for building a large hydroelectric dam? 4) what is the process for building a super-long tunnel highway/railway? N) i literally gots no end to 'em!... xD
How does pressure fit into this? If you're a diver having to go down there, you'd have to slowly drop down over a long period of time, to pressurize, and then do same coming back up. Does the oil need to be kept under certain pressures or depressurized to offset it the pressure already down there? And if so, how does that work with the fact that one end of the pipe will be above sea level where it connects with the rig, and another end will be at sea level, when it gets to land?
@@3DLivingStudio I have another idea. How about a video of what is inside power plants (like hydro-electric power plants or nuclear power plants), how they work and how they are made
you're videos are truly amazing, i just wanna know what software's you use to make these video and how much does it take to animate and find information for it. Thanks!
I have a question, in case of replacement of damaged pipe we drill in the good section to put a bypass line, so when the bypass line is removed after repair how is the drilled hole repaired??
one question - You said Oil will come from wellhead to platform rig , but how it will go to Xmass tree ? In your presentation Xmas tree is placed - -where oil is coming to xmass tree and pass to manifolds ?
@@amessit10 You are not wrong, according to my research, BOP is installed during the drilling, its only purpose is to seal the well permanently if blowout happens. If nothing happens, then the isolation plug is installed down the wellbore to temporarily seal the well while removing the BOP, this is to prevent oil leaking out to the ocean. Then the Xmas tree is installed, and then using a wireline to remove the isolation plug. OIl will continue to flow, passing thru the Xmas tree to the manifolds, and from there oil will be redirected to multiple pipes, to platform rigs or to an onshore plants, etc.
Holy!!! Never knew how complex getting oil is like wonder how often those machines get attack by wild sea animals 😮 is there a crew who only job is to fix those problems
Are you saying that there has been oil spilling out from the bottom of the sea into the sea for thousands of years or more (long before humanity even knew what oil was) ? If so then how come the seas aren't somewhat saturated with oil (I mean we can still swim in them) ?

I am on this study, how can I be connected to you for tips please?
Man you have such huge experience, I also want to get involved in working on platforms, can I have your contact please in order to ask a few questions
So glad you brought your own voice as the narration back!
Maybe it's good just to keep things original :)

Hi Lucious,
Thank you for this presentation

I appreciate your help out me through video about process of pipeline layout and umbilical connection. Thanks brother
Can you do a animation showing how wind turbines are installed?
There are a few videos that show pretty good pictures of how those work. but maybe one day I can come up with my own version :)
Keep up the good work! You're going to be the next Jared Owen!
Thanks, If I can reach 1/10 of his level, that would be an honor.
Amazing animation! Thanks for all the presentation.
Nice very much comprehensive. Can you explain how floating oil rigs maintain accurate poaition
Thank you for the amazing video... Can you add the more detailed video for the plet and plem function

Thanks Lucius very informative just what I was looking for

😮🙌Just staggering. An engineering triumph.
It would be really nice if you include another option of pipe lines like flexible pipelines! Also how the installation is made in the flexible pipes.
This is amazing video and excellent narration.

Consider using watermarks on your well made videos.
I integrated it at some part inside the video. I just don't like a big watermark right in the middle, that's very irritating for viewers.
I have a question, in case of replacement of damaged pipe we drill in the good section to put a bypass line, so when the bypass line is removed after repair how is the drilled hole repaired??
From what I've known, the repair clamp's valve will close and seal the hole and the clamp stays there permanently.
I guess, after the this video, i know more about the a deep sea oil transfer than the owners of oil companies...
Damn nice video =)
Love it.

No, oil lies beneath multiple layers of the rocks under the bottom of the sea. It requires deep drilling to get the oil out.
