    Adam, you do a really nice job of installing consumer units in a neat and professional manner. Your installations frequently look better (and are safer) than the unit they are replacing. Good on you lad.

    You can't beat work for letting companies (especially student housing). I'm a drainage engineer / technician and do a load of work at the local university housing. It's all really easy and basic, and you're never confronted with anything to nasty.

    I would always get that surge as close as possible to the main switch as where you have the doorbell transformer pretty much the same distance as the surge.

    I’m pretty sure the earth cable to your rod doesn’t have to be 16mm but check the OSG, I think 10mm was fine.

    Look up how to do an Adiabatic equation to calculate the minimum earth CSA. It will help you in the future :)

    I love those cheapy flush cuts, knipex charge 40 quid for the same tool.

    Hi Adam at such a young age your work is superb . I would be very careful carrying out EICRs until you have more experience and knowledge of current and previous versions of the regulations . There is no requirement for an earth electrode to have such a large main protective conductor . Those rcbos need to be double pole on a TT system.

    Boards like that were quality...2 proper bress screws per terminal ...halves the chances of a poor contact....and geniune brass

    Another good video, just a thought, for a TT system the OSG table 4.4 (iii) states that the earth CSA is 2.5mm in conduit?

    Nothing wrong with those old boards. Why upgrade the 10mm earth to the rod? it's perfectly adequate for TT?
    That's a fairly modern one, the really old ones have a hardwood base :)
    Make sure now you're working for yourself that you have a waste carrier's license (they're free for stuff you generate in your own work), the fines can be awful!

    Nice work ! , quick question if your not with a NIC or Napit can you still replace fuse boards ? as I
    It’s notifiable work ?

    • @TheChipmunk2008

      You can change it but if not a member of a CPS you'd need the council to come and sign it off, which'd pay for your membership of NICEIC for a year

    Why does the Earthing conductor need to be changed to 16mm?

  • @hbarnes2489

    Correct me if I'm wrong but do you not need a RCD main switch to provide fault protection? Or does having rcbo negate that?
    Nice video tho doing well for a recently qualified lad

    • @AdamDunlopElectrical

      Yea rcbo is better

    • @hbarnes2489

      Nah I know rcbos are better then RCDs but it was my understanding 100ma RCDs was a requirement for TT systems even with 30ma RCD protection to all circuits? I might be wrong

    • @DS1-1a

      100ma RCD required on metallic boards unless main tails are appropriately glanded and clamped into place therefore cannot come loose and touch exposed conductive parts.

    How tf are the lights NEUTRALS shared????? That is absolutely ludicrous and shocking electrical work no matter what decade it’s from😮 don’t mean this in a derogatory way but your standards in England are soooo relaxed compared to ours here in Ireland, yes they might all be off the 1 MCB but that’s just so lazy and cheap workmanship

    • @AdamDunlopElectrical

      @@AdamDunlopElectrical fair and we get it here but it’s down to lazy sparks not saying yous are but just saying whenever it happens here they share neutrals and even with the mcb of a lighting circuit off and go to work on it we always need to test for a back feed. Keep up the good work and vids bud really enjoy them and congrats coming all this way, watched you from day dot with Nick
