Hi, I have a 2018 Mini and when I created the USB installer following your tutorial it will not boot from the USB drive. If I boot into recovery and open Disk utility the drive appears but I can't do a thing with it. If I select Startup Disk the USB installer is not available/visible. If I boot back into macOS 10.15.x and select Startup Disk in system pref, the USB installer is not visible there as well. It should at least be visible within the macOS Startup Disk app, right?

So, I'm frustrated. I have a 2020 MacBook Air running Monterey and a 2013 Mid-Year MacBook Pro that won't boot because of a corrupted OS. So, I'm trying to create a bootable USB to reinstall the OS. Every time I try to use the "Get" button to download Catalina on my 2020 machine, I find that it's greyed out. When I try to use the "Get" button for Big Sur on my 2020 device, I get a software update window for Monterey. Please tell me, what am I missing?
BTW Mr. Macintosh, thank you for this excellent video. It's really good and very helpful. I'm just stuck because Apple "seems" to be preventing me from downloading an old OS to set up a bootable USB drive.

This didn't work. I followed your steps but got the following -
    Arguments
--volume, A path to a volume that can be unmounted and erased to create the install media.
--nointeraction, Erase the disk pointed to by volume without prompting for confirmation.
--downloadassets, Download on-demand assets that may be required for installation.
Now the mac doesn't even recognize the thumb drive when I plug it in.
I think your information might be out of date.
