Hi Olivia, I love your explanation of Bourdieu’s theory of capital. I’m doing a PhD in which I use Bourdieu’s concepts. You described “capital” very eloquently. Thanks!

    Hi Olivia and Nicola,
I'm close to the end of my master's in social sciences. Through the last five years, I have tried several times to understand Bourdieu, but with no luck - until now! It is so much clearer now. Thank you for your time and efforts in doing this video. It is a great help - and I can see that many others benefited from it as well.

Thank you for the great explanations. It was very interesting to me that you included examples of Iranian culture and society, especially ones found in Tehran. It wasn't that accurate at times though. As someone who is from Tehran and lived there for 20 years, I can assure you that crying, especially for men, has never been valued. Under patriarchal traditions, men are supposed to be "tough" and in no way emotional.

Thank you for making this theory very accessible, but I have few comments: atrocities were committed from basically one side (because France invaded Algeria in 1830)... France killed over 8 million Algerian Citizens (from 1830 to 1962) & only 23k French soldiers died in that battle! Also, the war was from 1954 to 1962!
