Congratulations to you and Jen on completing the Half Marathon in Glasgow of the Great Scottish Run , I ran the 10K earlier, wasn't it great running over the River Clyde on the closed motorway lane, well done.
@@alanmorr3635 thank you! 🙏 Great work on the 10k ☺️ I really enjoyed the route it was nice new scenery for us as we haven't ran in Glasgow before and it was a refreshing change ☺️
@@timothytrewin yes originally. I also did the half marathon but nowhere near as good as you, in about 2 hours 😀 I love Pollok Park. Was so cool to run through it as part of the route.
@@DavidBhoy1967 nice! I need to get there for more events to see more 😍 2hr still great running mate 💪 Pollok Park was lovely! I really enjoyed that part of the route. Next time I won't do a silly unnecessary uptempo run midweek and carry a tight chest into race day 🤦😂
Quality run man! Good to hear insights from someone clearly well ahead in their running journey. Second half marathon in as many months for me, always been more of a sportsman(football) caught the bug on my first one. Made a complete mess of morning hydration so the first 8 miles until the second drink station weren’t the prettiest. 2hr 8 minutes for me which was a pb of 30 seconds or so but definitely feel like sub 2 hours is possible on my next one in Inverness come March time.
@@cameronpollock1889 appreciate it Cameron 🙏 amazing to hear you have caught the bug as well 😆 I started running after Edinburgh marathon 2022 so been at it a little while now but I too was into sports etc prior to that. 2:08 is still a great time and I'm sure you can get sub2 💪 wee tip in re to hydration I do that on the days leading up to the race. So 2-3days leading up I'll focus on hydrating being careful not to over do it. The morning of the race I don't drink too much water or electrolytes maybe just a bit. I look forward to hearing all about your training for the half in Inverness during March ☺️
Neatttt- think I saw you at the warm up! Changed my goal during training to sub-90 mins and there wasn’t a pacer for that time in my wave, so had to do it from scratch. Just about made it by 20 seconds!
@@reubencurran4738 oh nice!! How'd you come by the video? ☺️ Yassss great running! 🥳 I feel like more often than not it's better to run your own race and sounds like it work out for you 🤭 I prefer focusing on pacing myself.
I was in the 10K, my first ever race. It was a great race, lots of loving supportive and encouraging runners in the pack!!! My normal training route gives me lots of hills, so St Vincent Street was “easy” in some ways. Give you a tip for cheaper parking, look for a subway station, park close by there and travel in.
@@AndrewKerr5 amazing work Andrew! Yes there was so many great people around and there was such a a positive vibe! Yeah I run in a very hilly area also so normally pretty strong on the hills wasn't feeling my best that's for sure 😂 still very happy with how I ran. Thanks for the tip, we did considering parking at train stations near us and heading it but didn't really think about the outskirts 👍 I'll keep that in mind for future races. £12 isn't the worst in cities I guess 😂 You planning to run more races?
@@timothytrewin I am planning on more races now, such is the gateway drug. Maybe upping my training to the half marathon. Folk around me at the start were dreading St Vincent Street, I was like let’s go!! The atmosphere is very like when I went to The Eras Tour, same vibe and atmosphere. Love that! My parking at one of the park and rides in the subway network was £7.70 with travel included. Funny you should mention your right hip flexor. I have issues with mine, I try to do a couple at home gym sessions a week to help with it. It was last December I took 4 weeks off because of it. It was my first run back running that led me to fall in an icy pothole and damage my ankle ligaments and take another 6 weeks off this time 10 months ago. This year has been a rough one, now leading to this. Very low times have lead to this very high time!!
@@AndrewKerr5 good to hear! Half Marathon is my fave distance for sure. Training has been a little inconsistent for me and more shorter distance focused to my half marathon endurance isn't quite there atm but still love it. Hopefully you can stay healthy and get a good run of training together 😊 yeah that hip flexor is an interesting one, I'm still unsure if it's a flexibility thing, a strength thing or even imbalances elsewhere causing it but I'll try some things and see how i go. The problem is it only happens in all out races which I don't test often 🤦😂
@@Guybrush99 thank you, appreciate it 🙏😊 nice running did you enjoy it? 💪 have you run the event before? Definitely one I'll look to run again, I enjoyed the day.
@@timothytrewin yea ran it few years ago, smashed that time, I wasn’t going to run it this year, as been injured, so last min decision, to be 1:33, although not my fastest run, makes it one of my best for just gritting it out.
