Thank you for these videos. I just purchased this and I could not find any videos on this until now. So, is this the same method you use for the 8.5x11?

      Hi, glad they helped:)
Yes, it is the same method. It is a tight margin to work with, so you may have to adjust a couple of times to get that spot that will allow none of the holes to be at the edge.
I hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

When do you adjust the depth gauge? My understanding is that you want the holes farther away from the edge for thicker stacks. How many pages thick would you adjust it or do you do all of your books the same depth?

Hi, Yes, your understanding is correct. Smaller books around 100 pages or less will not need much margin and might do fine on the 2.5mm setting. If it's over 100 pages but less than 200 pages, the middle setting, or 4.5mm, will be perfect. For anything more significant than 200 pages, the last setting on this machine, a 4.5mm setting, might be best.
The frequency of page turning and how much available margin also need to be considered.
I often leave my machine on the 4.5mm setting, and most times, it has worked out great. Because many of the books I bind are for kids, the larger books sometimes fall apart a bit.
If I was binding for someone else, I might be more meticulous about adjusting the margin allowance.
Sorry for the late response. I was Ill. All the best to you, and thank you for watching!

Is it possible to punch paper larger than A4 (A3 long edge, for example) with a machine such as this? So you punch one half, turn the paper over and then punch the rest? It looks like on the right side of the machine there is space for paper to hang off the edge, outside of the bounds of the punching slit. Thanks!

      Hi Vintage X.
My response is late. I apologize.
What an excellent question! I tried it, and it works great! Thank you for asking:) I tried it on paper slightly smaller and larger than A3, and it worked well. I made a short demonstrative video ---> th-cam.com/video/eRz0uyN95ok/w-d-xo.html. But the answer to your question is yes, it works. Thank you for watching!

Are you happy with this version or do you wish you got thr oval punch one ? Im trying to decide which is better . Did you have a hard time turning pages ? Google says the oval ones better for that but im not sure

      Hi.
Yes, I am happy with this version based on my usage.
The pages turn properly if I use the correct size coil to suit the book I am binding.
If I use a smaller coil size, there will be a little resistance when turning the pages. I've had this happen a few times before, but it was not a great deal to me because I use it primarily for personal use.
Your question led me to research the oval hole machines, which I just looked into.
They are quite a bit more expensive, though.
So If I were to go only on price, I wouldn't be surprised if they turn easier, which might explain the increased cost.
But as I mentioned above, the round coil binding machine works excellent; you just need to use the correct coil sizes :)
I've been using this one for five years and am still happy with it.
My only real negative is that the connection for the AC plug is not the strongest, and I shared in an update video on the binder that I wouldn't suggest continuously unplugging that plug from the back of the machine.
Thank you for your comment, and I apologize for the late response.
      Thanks for watching!

No worries on responding late ! I didn't even get a notification . Only see your comment because I came back to this video. I ended up buying it and I'm only setting it up now . I probably won't use the coil and plug in part anytime soon and just do it by hand. I bought a bunch of different sizes I figured would be best to start with.

Your machine has adjustable pins, pull the silver pin if you don’t want it to punch a hole so close to the end.

Hi, MsShaShaLou. Yeah, I know the pins are adjustable. But thanks for pointing it out:) And for watching!
