Excellent video. I have been researching my Quaker ancestors - mainly Hollingsworth and Hawkins related families - since the 1980s. Will definitely rewatch this video, probably several times.

I just discovered your site a few days ago. I have found it both entertaining and the most helpful of any site I have encountered. So a very heartfelt thank you. I have been doing genealogical research for almost 40 years ( I am that old). During our quarantine time for the covid-19 pandemic, I have been going through my previous research and doing my DNA and revisiting some of my "old" ancestors. Most of my ancestors arrived in the 1600-1700's. One of my maternal great -great grandmothers was Lucy Jane Hart. She was a descendant of John Hart 1651-1714. My notes from back in the day, show that he was a Quaker. After watching your video I am ready to begin to delve into any Quaker roots that I might have. Again, thank you so much for your informative videos, I feel as if I've found a friend who shares my interest and questions about this new era of doing genealogical research. From sending a $5 check with a SASE to a town clerk for a copy of a record to utilizing the Thru Lines on Ancestry......we've come a long way!

OMG!!!That is so weird about their dates. Yet, it actually makes sense. If I find records I would need a Quaker handbook to talk me through it, like a devoder. Wow!

My Quaker ancestry kept a lot of good records. My direct bloodline started the Friends hospital in England and then donated the property in Philadelphia for the Friends hospital here.

Thank you for such a great education on Quakers. Mine are from Eastern NC, Nahunta, Contentnea. Surnames are Pike, Colyer, Edgerton, Cox, Arnold, I have done a lot of research on my line of Quakers and also find it fascinating. My Pikes is the family that the town of Pikeville is named for.

I have Westfield MM ( Burcham, Sumner, Denny, Stoneman etc.) and some moved to Galax VA. Also have another branch who attended Goose Creek MM in VA but they lived in Pittsylvania Cty VA. Also, the Burchams and others are first found at New Garden MM near Greensboro, NC and Sumner in Guilford Cty. Amazing how they seemed to migrate with each new MM opening, but maybe they did not. Common names are what gives me trouble as it seemed everyone had same legal name and married a cousin, who also was named same as her cousins!

I think it was part of the tradition to him down names to each generation. That makes a little more difficult. I have lots of John Henley’s and Rebecca Henley’s in my quicker ancestry. Thanks for watching.

My mother’s fathers side of the family originated from Ireland their name was Reynolds they became quakers and went to England , from their William Penn brought the quakers to America when they were ousted from that country. These are records that my cousin researched from the Mormon church whom he’s been a member of for years.
According to his findings my great great great grandfather married William Penns daughter when they came to the US. I would have to look up the dates in my records. It may have been John Reynolds. They were a family of strict ministers settling in Colorado. My grandfather hated all of he beatings he got so ran away from home at 13 taking freight trains to Chicago. Their he settled and found my grandmother at 23 years old married and had 5 children. My mother only met his family once as a small child so she didn’t stay in contact with them till she was in her 80’s. Sad I did not know my grandfathers family.

Interesting story. You might want to take a DNA test (if you haven't already) to help verify the connections. Quakers had great records... so much of it is likely documented. I love the Quaker records. They're awesome.
