Blast from the past - first rides on the brand new Shercos back in 2022! For up-to-date comments, see our long-term review vid here! th-cam.com/video/idPx0oX4jIQ/w-d-xo.html Some time ago, I stopped creating weekly supporter videos for viewers who were financially helping to keep the channel afloat. I'm slowly releasing a few of the more popular ones so you may have seen the much shorter version a few years ago. Enjoy! My apologies to any supporters who feel this is unfair as they had exclusive access to these videos in the past. However, ad revenue from TH-cam has dropped dramatically and as most of you know I refuse to do any affiliate marketing or accept sponsorship in exchange for promoting products.
I've been pretty lucky! It will never be 100% again but I can get a three hour dirt ride in nowadays if I keep good posture and don't lift the bike out of holes. Beats being a paraplegic any day...
Hey Barry, im glad that you are doing so well....I really enjoy riding along with you fellas...I've also got the 2022 se 300 factory...great bikes! I also just geared it down a bit, for the more technical stuff ...incredible lug... Stay safe and keep doing your thing...👍
I’ve been a Beta 300 guy for the last 6 years but have been more and more curious about the 300 4t offering from Sherco. I’m just afraid I’d miss the off idle lug I love so much. I also worry about flameouts. A Rekluse could fix that but then I’d need to find a whole new set of friends 😂
Very impressive! I'm recovering from a torn rotator cuff I suffered from falling off my back porch steps, I'm badly out of shape! Me and the old 530 KTM could scarcely keep up with you Barry!
Doing a rear wheel hop from stand still works a lot better if you give it a slight blip from clutch to ignite the hop while compressing the shock. When in motion don't pull the clutch before tail is in the air. Makes a big difference 👍
Glad to see that you're back to shenanigans again, Barry. Boy, I would have had a really rough time in that Sherco boutique, seein' as I took Spanish instead of Franch for my language when I lived in Lo Cal. Who needs bling when the bike already comes in fluorescent blu and yeller?
Hey barry, sure the one finger clutch gives a better riding experience, however depending on how the oem clutch failed, you can save it using the "X-GRIP PUMP REPAIR KIT"
I'm looking at upgrading from my 2020 300exc. The sherco is a serious contender. I do find the KTM feels lighter to me. Plus the clutch is better (I run a clake so that doesn't matter too much) personally I think the exc has better low down, but lacks in the mid. Ill make my mind up one day.
We haven't done a direct comparison yet but the TBI definitely feels more like a carb bike when it comes to grunt. We've had a few friends spends loads of cash on their TPIs trying to get them halfway to the grunt of a carb. 😢
Nice report Barry very sorry to hear about your accident.I would consider a sherco in the future. Is there a video where you give your opinion against the betas/ktm/husky eqivalent models??
That would be our best 300 two stroke vid. It doesn't go into great detail. Also it looked at the TPI models but the TBI is now out.... this has regained the lost grunt but we won't know how reliable the system is until we get long term reports.
Man I'm really thinking of trading in my beta for a new sherco, new 24 250 4 strokes should be in and ready in June, here in texas anyways, I watch all ur videos and u guys are always on the sherco. Its cool to get some good info..
They are a pretty solid bike nowadays. Like most brands, they were ironing out some issues in their first few years. We reckon it's the strongest engine out of the bunch at low revs due to that electronic power valve. The Beta RR250 is very close though.
Time stamp 4:32. Is that 3 clicks infrom all the way out? My manual says 12 clicks out from all the in. I am 15 clicks out from all the way in. Feels good at higher speed and when I have energy, but after 20 miles on rocky terrain I am worn out. 220lb rider. Also, i have turned my shock rebound way in to 4 clicks from all the way in. Maybe due to increased preload on standard spring. Anyone else have their rebiund cranked in on SE factory?
I just softened the compression until it stopped turning, can't remember how many clicks now. It could actually be a bit softer for our style of slow technical riding but I think it's going to suit everyday dirt riding.
@@crosstrainingenduro Barry, just checked. There was 20 clicks to full out. The manual lists that as "comfort." Haha. "Sport" is 8 clicks, so they are giving a lot of room for aggressive riding. I will try a few more clicks out. Thanks for the reply. Cheers.
The 46mm kyb open cartridge is a much better fork for harder, slower rides. got with the Rieju Ranger 300 and was surprised how much better I like them compared to the closed cartridge.
A lot of riders automatically think closed cartridge is better... which it can be for racing and the extreme conditions get the oil frothing. But for us everyday riders.... usually a complete non-issue I suspect.
Am I to old to start Enduro? I just turned 40. I rode bikes through all my teens. But had a bad accident back in 2001, got hit by a truck. Haven't been back on a bike since. But have recently been wanting to get into Enduro.
I'm always telling people that killing the engine is great on the hard downhills and using the clutch as a rear brake Works even better on bigger 4 strokes with more compression

Hats off to you Barry, especially after that bad accident/injury a while back.

Getting the bike out of the hole is what buddies are for. Group rides are more funner
What happened to him?

My friends never have figured out why I continue to insist on not installing a spark arrestor but you just gave it away. Thanks a lot!

Try some carbal wax on plastics from new. Do every 2nd wash. Lots of benefits.
Great video thanks Barry
Glad you enjoyed it David!

Ouch! How long off the bike probably?
About 6 or 7 more weeks its already been 9. The hard part is staying home, and I'm trying to get disability with no results so far.
Going to try the VE33s soon, I’m burning through the IX09s but they do track well.

Very nice video.
Keep up the good work
Cheers! Very nice looking Pusang you've got there...

Es verdad, LJ!
That french is beautifully said.
Vous etes trop gentil! I hope my five years of French at school weren't wasted lol.
Sit back & chill with enduro FM 😎

would love to know how it matches up in the slow lug department compared to the new Ktm TBI

How good is that 300! Wish I had one just like it😜
Gruntmeister!

Hola, alguien ha probado el embrague quitando dos muelles?.patina?
See our lighter clutch video, we've done this.

How does the low end power compare to the Beta 300? Can you also adjust the PV on the Sherco like on the Beta?
At least you remember some French. Two college semesters back in '95 and I can't remember un peu.
It's wierd... un peu. 😁 I do remember bits of languages I learned decades ago but forget almost everything else so fast. Selective Alzheimers?

I know quite a few guys who start in their 50s. Sometimes even in their 60s and beyond...
@@crosstrainingenduro Thanks man, I appreciate you getting back to me.
Cross training enduro- how reliable are Sherco 2 stroke, asking because everyone's crazy about KTM's
Definitely more reliable than TPI bikes lol. See our Sherco known issues vid.
@@crosstrainingenduro Nice I'll check it out 👍🏼
Must of been one of the last to ride big/little red before they bulldozed it.

Hope ktm doesn't keep killing brands with this one, specially now that they are starting with the software locked bullshit on road bikes
Not bad, but it's no DR
😂👍
