the only problem with Kayama-san is that if you tried to pick up on a girl at his bar by ordering her a drink, they'd fall in love with Kayama-san watching him make it. And so would you.
I was sold when he pulled out the jar of cochineal. That's the dried bodies of cactus-sucking insects used as a red food dye, in case you were wondering.
From experience and visiting Japan this guy is an accurate representation on how the Japanese people do their jobs/their culture with care, effort and hospitality.
Those are some rather serious, hate-filled, and frankly racist accusations there. Perhaps you should consider that, like literally everywhere else in the world, there are good people and bad people in Japan, and not make such sweepingly ignorant and bigoted statements. Especially without providing a single shred of proof. Just food for thought.
The man has style oozing out of every inch of his being, and his recipes look flat-out AAA. That said, he isn't flashy. He is fully competent in every basic aspect of bartending. It's the way he holds himself and his recipes that places him as a notch above.
This man is one of the reasons i am studying to become a bartender. There's just something about how every single small movement he does has a precise meaning and purpose, and he does everything so effortlessly. It's the level of elegance and dedication that i wish to reach in my life..
I just went to his bar after watching these videos. He's in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Drinks were incredible and catered toward your taste. We got 8 drinks which ended up being less than $160 USD. Chill dude and knows his shit! Go there if you are in Tokyo
AOMG X 88rising dude i only looked at comments to comment the same thing. This kills majority of asmr video out there. Especially cuz i got immune to 90% of them
I noticed that. Maybe cuz of the way its cut together but to me it looked like he just tried a drop of the syrup straight which wouldnt rly make sense obvs.
he probably stirred the drink first before the video started from the cut. japanese bartenders taste their drinks before shaking to make sure they don't have to remake the drink after shaking and pouring.
Most bartenders taste their drinks. The most common method uses a straw with a thumb over the end, 2nd comes a tiny cup. But I've seen a lot of Japanese bartenders do it this way. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be not uncommon.
Good food is made with love, because without it there is no true effort. Same goes for coctails, and this is a man who enjoys his work. Love the editing btw!
This reminds me of this weird bartender cartoon game where you'd pick the liquids and stuff and hed shake it and drink it and see whether it tasted good or bad I liked it either way lol
Ingredients for fresh campari cocktail: 1) Twigs from the back yard 2) Tree bark shavings 3) Random chunks of debris from the living room carpet 4) One fistful of soft sandstone rocks, finely crushed 5) Clamato Enjoy!
americans are used to getting completely ripped off on bars here if it's a luxury bar sure they can charge anything for a cocktail like this, but an averagely nice place wouldn't be over 20€
He COULD just put that spoon back into the water, but no. Japan's best doesn't play that, he swirls upon re-entry because I don't know why. Love it though.
One thing i noticed on these videos is the sound. So crisp, so sharp to the point that it almost sounded artificial. the water drops, the crushed herbs...
This is fucking beautiful, I'm a cook with only 4 years of experience, I love my job but This just shows you how the food/beverage industry can hold so much class and elegance
I don't know why I seem to come back every two years, but it has to be the overall sound in the video. The "ASMR" content creators on TikTok are undeserving fakers compared to this level of poise and sound. If I wanted to hear some nobody chew crackers in my ear, or run their $1 manicured nails over their "pro" mic, or pop their mouth/mumble/whisper nonsense, I'd go to any CoD lobby on Xbox. This however is ART is many senses of the word.
It's like he's inviting me in I take my shoes off put on some classical music after a stressful day sit back and drink the fanciest drinks made by this legendary bartender
Looks like a lovely cocktail, though personally I don't think it really needs the cochineal... The natural colour of the flavourings would be fine, no crushed bugs necessary.
Me: *walks in* “Water, please”
This guy: *grabs an oxygen atom and 2 hydrogen atoms*
😂
LOL
damn, busted a gut laughing after reading that.
the only problem with Kayama-san is that if you tried to pick up on a girl at his bar by ordering her a drink, they'd fall in love with Kayama-san watching him make it.
And so would you.
Don't look at him when he shakes ur drink !!
Enlighten me as to why could that be even remotely considered as a problem 😆😆
Well put.
Plot twist, YOU fall in love with Kayama lol
i don't see that as a problem at all
I was sold when he pulled out the jar of cochineal. That's the dried bodies of cactus-sucking insects used as a red food dye, in case you were wondering.
I was wondering why the drink was so red.
v0zbox though apparently bottled campari doesn't use that anymore
I heard Starbucks stopped using that as well.
Peruvians use it to dye clothes too. I couldn't agree more with you.
Yeah, bugs. Japan's greatest bartender! Also, how is this campari?
From experience and visiting Japan this guy is an accurate representation on how the Japanese people do their jobs/their culture with care, effort and hospitality.
Took the words out of my mouth...or, fingertips, i guess.
Crafted with pride.
Negus_Nark and they have a "no tipping" culture... In the US they say if you tip your service will be better..lol..
chris v I'm an American bartender and would love to make stuff like this but Americans would lose their shit if their drinks took 5 minutes.

Campari: Out of stock.
This guy: Fine, I’ll do it myself.

Foley artist on this having way too much fun.
alone family okay thank you I was thinking the same thing
The Foley artist must be having a baller editing these.
these videos are basically a foley artist's wet dream
Watching Japanese bartenders is like watching an artist. Beautiful.
he seems like he'd be such a friendly person to approach. you can tell he's proud of what he does. love this.
2:01 there you go, sir..
2:04 just kidding it's not done yet..
To sit and watch someone make campari from scratch effortlessly during the cocktail building process is just insane. Perfect.
Producer: How many ingredients you want?
This guy: Yes
2:53 look into the eyes of your murderer
"First I shake this cocktail and then I shake your cheeks"
hahahahaha so its not just me.
needs more close ups and loud noises
KGrace yes I want my ears to tear apart and my eyes to melt
The added sound effects ruin the video honestly, the raw audio was just fine.
This shit is just like ASMR fuckin lovin it! #88rising
so true
spinal boner
Luo Dong incoming
AOMG X 88rising dude i only looked at comments to comment the same thing. This kills majority of asmr video out there. Especially cuz i got immune to 90% of them
Hell yeah, i'm not the only one
man how I love 88rising
keep up the great work
I would probably pay 30 dollars for that drink.
Probably 50 if I'm already drunk.
I'd buy one and let all my friends try it out. I know they'd be dying to know how it tastes.
It's less than 20 dollars and Japanese bars will not take tip.
You like to drink crushed insect juice?
Lol. The cochneal gave it a nice red color!
only if u have money , poor fuck
2:31 he checks the sweetness by placing a drop on the back of his hand and licking it. Smooth.
He is very elegant
I noticed that. Maybe cuz of the way its cut together but to me it looked like he just tried a drop of the syrup straight which wouldnt rly make sense obvs.
That's a pretty common thing to do in bars. However most bartenders don't do it because it can be considered rude in front of customers
And he did that move in a really elegant way. I bet he had practiced this move for a long time.
@Jason Calcanis LOL
The way he licked the syrup off his hand like a fucking cat lmao
he probably stirred the drink first before the video started from the cut. japanese bartenders taste their drinks before shaking to make sure they don't have to remake the drink after shaking and pouring.
+Alan Yu A good bartender tastes the drink just like a chef tastes the food.
That description +1

Jonas Clark its just a pretentious way of tasting.. Lol so called mixology
I'm not into ASMR, but everything about this video gives me chills, good chills. Especially with headphones. I heavily recommend good headphones.
When he puts the ice in the shaker and shakes its the same clip everytime i swear
its so pleasing to hear and watch , THIS IS SOME DANK QUALITY !
Studd bandit 👀

That close up at 2:54 had me dying 😂😂😂
Made me uncomfortable I fucking closed my eyes
+Choi Kaylee haha
scared the shit out of me.
hahaha I wasn't ready..
2 minutes into bartending and chill and he gives you that look
this video was beautiful. sounds and visuals were perfect. asmr type stuff...
first of all, great video editing and shooting.
and this is a great bartender. very clean, works with care, and knows his stuff.
Watching you make these drinks is calming honestly
This reminds me of this weird bartender cartoon game where you'd pick the liquids and stuff and hed shake it and drink it and see whether it tasted good or bad I liked it either way lol
You could make the boston shaker explode, which is the funniest fail in my book
The game is called: "Bartender: the Right Mix" or something like that. And yeah, I know this comment is old.
western bartenders: couple ingredients, alcohol, other alcohol, another alcohol and a shitton of ice
kayama-san: A L C H E M Y
Ingredients for fresh campari cocktail:
1) Twigs from the back yard
2) Tree bark shavings
3) Random chunks of debris from the living room carpet
4) One fistful of soft sandstone rocks, finely crushed
5) Clamato
Enjoy!
hilarious!
dont forget the bugs lol
my wallet hurts just thinking about how expensive this bar would be
thiefrules this drink is $40 by itself
@@SmurfYeahBizNitches ;damn 40
It should be $150 if he looks at you like that hahah so personalized.
@@SmurfYeahBizNitches Cheaper than I expected.

he's so swift and delicate with his moves... he'd call me vulgar if he saw how i shake a bottle of juice.
That sudden face-zoomed in tho, scared the shit outta me, geez.
these quality videos they upload makes me want to work at 88 rising. dope.
FYI: cochineal is a crushed dried insect used to make a very bright red dye (doesn't last long, so it's usually just in cosmetics)
He COULD just put that spoon back into the water, but no. Japan's best doesn't play that, he swirls upon re-entry because I don't know why. Love it though.

these videos are so dope!!! keep them comingggg
It's always so mesmerising watching him prepare the drink...though I've never been to Japan but I'm already his fan...😁
This is fucking beautiful, I'm a cook with only 4 years of experience, I love my job but This just shows you how the food/beverage industry can hold so much class and elegance
Brilliant with your usual elegant presentation!
This nigga making bomb ass drinks while staring into your soul.
Amazing quality and editing of these videos! Loving this shot, keep it up!
2:30 besides his sophisticated attitude, he's got a hint of playfulness when a drop of syrup got on his hand 😰😖😍😍
I could watch this for days! wonderful video!
Shit givin me chills. Love it.
More of this its so strangely satisfying
Makes me wanna start drinking again
imho I think the sound effects add a certain crisp feeling that makes the video that little bit more relaxing
I ain't into ASMR, but there's something about this video that gives me pleasant chills every time I've watched this.
30 minutes later: WHERE IS MY GODDAMN CAMPARI
That's what he mixed in the mortal and pestal with the vodka. It's called Fresh Campari.
Yeah he would get no tips for taking forever. And if he has to make other drinks first you could wait like 3 hours.
@@greenlawnfarm5827 He doesn't need tips. They actually get paid an actual wage. In Japan, tipping is considered insulting.
@@ZenPsyko Thats the problem then. He is trying to take super long to get paid more.

So refreshing even in lockdown days.

I feel like i need to watch these "Cocktail Making" videos every year
Me: Oh no I'm out of Campari!
Kayama-san: Hold my biru
More of these please
Plz bring this back
2:51 woke up realized what was going on shit my pants
can't wait for the next one!
Damn, more please !
So much relaxing
Look at the discipline and the manners. Real Japanese robots
I don't know why I am watching his videos. I don't even drink, but I am hooked!
God, I just love your content.
need more videos of this bartender!
Leaving speachless.
i have no idea what i just watch but it was mesmerizing
This blokes constant smirk creeps me out, its like he's thinking: 'I know something that you dont but really should'.
The comment section on all of these videos are so friendly and everyone gets along😂😂😂 it's great tbh
The spices which was used here ....is a everyday masala for our Indian Kitchen...for making Dal
This is modern day alchemist
What about that SICK outro song? Does anyone know the title?

gotta love the japanese craftsmenship when it comes to coktails
Asmr tingles kicked in
this is amazing
I really love the video. But the extra sound effects is not necessarily in my opinion. It looks good as is :)

god knows why but ive watched this like 40 times now...just so satisfying 😍
