A good start. The most important things I learnt for TIG welding: cleanliness and fit up. No oxidation on the surfaces and no gaps between the parts to be joined and things will go much more smoothly. Oh, and practice. Practice more, and practice a bit more… then when you’ve had enough practice, practice a little more.
Hi Happy new year The sample of tube you have for the exhaust it looks like the aluminised tube for car exhaust systems it dose not weld nicely treat yourself to some 316 stainless it welds nicely and will look good
It's a project like this that reminds you that the people who make exhausts from dozens of little sections are seriously impressive. Looking forward to that episode
Have you seen this page mate ? he has built a bike similar to yours TechnoLogic is the page anyway Happy new year buddy cant wait till its done in 2025 😎😎🤘🤘
A couple welding tips. 1 amp per .001". So 1/16" wall tubing us 60 amps max. Two different thickness, weld at the lower thickness amperage and spend more arc time on the thicker section to get the heat into it. Welding exhaust pipes I make a gap between the pipes with a 1/16" welding rod. Tack and remove the rod and weld. This way you get a full penetration weld.
@@StoneEng Are you doing tig or mig? Some of the best practice is to take any scrap and just lay beads on it. Go slow and observe what the puddle is doing. I have to wear reader glasses to see what I'm doing. So that may help catch a weld before it burns thru.
Happy New Year. All the best for the coming year. Looking forward to following the progress again. Have you thought about a meet up for when the bike is finished? All your followers will be able to see the bike in the steel. I definitely would like to see it
@@martinkaye1801 I hadn't thought that far ahead 😁 When it's on the road I'll post a video in advance if I'm going to any shows or rallies. Would be good to meet a few people and prove I'm not stuck in the matrix!
Happy new year🎉. Re welding, I think you should weld the posts on yourself. Building a bike or doing any work on your bike tells the story of the machine. Yes you'll get better but then if you follow that path you wouldn't do anything unless it was perfect. I watch Ralfy Customs and he will leave imperfections as it's the best he can do and he definitely knows how to build a bike. As long as it's not spattery and it's strong it can be cleaned up somewhat with a die grinder. Anyways, I've really enjoyed seeing the bike come along this year and can't wait for it to power itself on the road. Best wishes.
I share the sentiment and want to do as much myself as possible. But I also need to factor in time. I've been messing about with Maxine tools for 30 years in and off. I've been welding for 30 minutes. 😁 I'll keep practising and see if it gets any better.
