Very helpful. New old majak clock owner. The bird was not fully retracting and door was not closing correctly. Inspected and saw a wire coming off the cuckoo jamming into the bellow. Your video informed of purpose of wire and how the bird articulates from the bellow movement. Thank you.

Yes you can purchase birds off of timesavers for next to nothing or you can buy more expensive ones or you can purchase them off ebay. All you have to do is release the bird from the door by bending the wire at around 90* or in the shape of an "L". Slip the wire from the small staple that holds the wire to the door. Then there is a screw that holds the bird onto the bird post. Loosen that screw then you will be able to slide it off the bird post. Put the new bird in about the same place as the old bird was making sure that the bird is in the center of the door when you push him out the door. Tighten the screw only enough to hold the bird in place. Dont over tighten the screw. Recheck to make sure that the bird is in the center of the door (it should also have a slight tilt to where the head is pointed down). Then connect the wire to the door (The new birds typically dont come with the wire that attaches to the door so you will have to take the wire off your old bird paying attention to where the wire was so you can put it in the same place on the new bird). Decent bird part numbers through timesavers is 10457 for $3.50 each, 17716 which is a wooden bird for $8 each, or 31031 which looks like a live bird with feathers for $12.50 each. Now with the new bird depending on the size of your clock you might have to snip part of the tail off if it hits the back of the clock when it comes inside. Make sure that the low note bellow wire that raises the bird when it cuckoos isnt touching the birds tail when it comes inside the clock. Hope this helps. Good luck.

i love cuckoo clocks too i have one myself but i don't use it that much i used to use it alot back then but one thing I hope someone will upload is how the cuckoo birds are made like the plastic and especially the wooden cuckoo birds iv always wanted to know how the birds are made and how the people carve them to make it into a cuckoo bird

I havent seen a video on how they are made. The history behind them I have read. From what I remember it was basically an accident. IAW The Cuckoo Clock Repair Manual 3rd Enlarged Edition by William J Bilger "The cuckoo bird, depending on the age of the clock can be a very elaborate mechanism in its own right, or just a simple carved wooden image. The older cuckoo clocks have birds whose wings flap, beak moves up and down and the cuckoo itself bobs up and down. As the clock gets newer the elaborations slowly disappear. The wing flapping was the first to go as this was an intricate mechanism to manufacture",. Now with that said this isnt quite accurate. There are some very old cuckoo clocks made that have no moveable parts whatsoever. There are clocks made in the 50s by Japan that have moveable wings but are made of plastic. Some of the well sought after cuckoo clocks made by BEHA do not have moveable wings or beaks and were made in the late 1800s. Most older cuckoo clocks that were from the black forest have moveable wings and beaks and that is what a lot of people look at when trying to determine the age of the clock but unless they have a reference guide/documented paper work or movement is clearly identified and has the DOM then I dont believe anyone can truly tell you what date a clock was made especially clocks made prior to WWI. I hope this helps. Please search for cuckoo birds on you tube. You will be surprised how accurate the cuckoo clock is to the real thing.

There are so many different birds and cases out there. That is one of the reasons why I love cuckoo clocks so much.

@@blue_hedgehog_gaming_clock9580 I watched the video where your clock is supposed to strike 3 but strikes more. I am going to say that the clock needs the rack and snail adjusted. There is a tab on the rack that hits the snail. If it doesnt hit the snail then it will drop further down which will cause the cuckoo to strike more. Also your clock might need cleaned. You can watch my other videos such as Repairing a one day cuckoo clock and I discuss how to do that.

Not sure if I understand what you want to know. If you are asking if this clock has mercury then the answer is no.
