Radiohead are amazing and Thom Yorke is one of the greatest rock singers of all time. He is a genius. I absolutely love his voice. Street Spirit Fade Out is brilliant and the closing song of one of my all time favorite records, The Bends. You should check it out. Great review! Thanks.
I think the most difficult part you didn’t speak about is the fact that he has no breaks between notes and phrases in that chorus not to mention how effortlessly he seems to be doing that… blows my mind
I’ve been working on this song and your comment about ‘bearing your teeth’ to create more resonance really put it together for me - been wondering why I couldn’t get that part right! Thank you!
I have to comment again… as you stated, he doesn’t enunciate and that is one of the things that I love so much about Radiohead. Realizing that this performance was in another country, where many people most likely don’t even understand English, I know that it was just as powerful for them to hear that there are so many Radiohead songs that I still don’t know the lyrics to but it’s his tone and intensity and melody that is so incredibly moving. The music is language of emotion all on its own. Especially with Radiohead.
You need to react to their Fake Plastic Trees. That and Sulk are probably his best vocal performances on record. As much as I love their newer stuff, he never made quite the vocal effort (going more for feel over technique in their later stuff) again. The Bends era is the perfect blend of feel and skill.
yeah, his peak was 94-97 vocally. i mean, by the time kid a came out he was in his 30s, and he smoked until his 20s and screamed a LOT on the pablo honey and bends tours so he probably just wasn't necessarily able to any more. i mean, sometimes you see moments like 2+2=5 from hail to the thief and optimistic on kid a (specifically the lines "fodder for the animals" and "flying round on a prison ship") where he definitely shows he still has that control and technique, but i think it's a combination of trying to suit the music more, plus age. his vocals on in rainbows are good, but they're less from the rock and punk background that his early vocals were rooted in, from in rainbows onwards his vocals seem, to my ears for some reason, to take more from r&b and pop. he still shows a lot of control and technique on songs like nude and lotus flower but it's definitely more subtle and less overtly impressive. but hey, he's not 25 anymore, and when they performed planet telex in madison square garden relatively recently he sounded amazing, so all things considered he's still doing alright
He's done better vocals since the bends. I would say Paranoid Android show lots of things he can do, simply because the song consists of different parts.
Could you react to gfriend’s Yuju? She is the Main Vocalist of Gfriend and has a very strong voice. When I heard her high note in ”Time For The Moon Night” I was shook. So please react to her please ✨
Adam! Hi, hope you’ve been well. I would love to see you react to red velvet’s psycho original video and the performance, and the recent cover that four 00’ liner boys did in music bank!!🙇♀️🙇♀️

That harmony that you wanted, and heard, is actually present, musically, on the studio recording and also when the full band play live. :)
