I hated CVT's but then I got a cool job and got to drive one of these and the CVT is perfectly fine, sure it's annoying at high revs, but driving normally it's great.
I know some people don't care for it, but I really love the two tone steering wheel matching the leather seating and the door armrests. This is definitely the best looking Maxima ever in my opinion. I still don't like CVT's, and I definitely agree that they should at least offer a 6 speed manual as an option, but it's nice to hear they're making improvements to the CVT. Now with 300 HP, it seems like a pretty good combo. Nice car, and great video guys.
Great video! With the SR, you'll feel every road imperfection due to its suspension. I bought a '16 Maxima in April and I enjoy it. The CVT isn't ideal but I get good fuel economy (for a V6) so I'm fine with it.
+jodh goodwill I'm getting about 24 mpg right now, which is fair. I drive primarily in the city, but I get impressive averages when I use the highway. I drove from Maryland to State College, PA to attend a graduation at PSU in May and averaged 37 mpg to and from.
I don’t know why everyone’s complaining about the cvt. I’ve got a 2016 maxima platinum and I love the car. It’s fast doesn’t lag and is extremely comfortable and luxurious. The cvt gets amazing fuel economy and pulls hard for being just a naturally aspirated motor no turbo or supercharger. I’ve always loved the maximas. Best car I’ve driven
have all you complaining about the cvt driven the new maximas? didn't think so....i drove extensively 3 vehicles trying to figure out what 4 door to buy, dodge charger rt, wrx and maxima sr...the cvt was easily the most responsive..the immediate pull from 80-120 is far superior in the maxima....the issue, if anything, is front wheel drive vs rwd or awd but definitely not the transmission

I own a 2p13 maxima. No problems with the car. Drives just loke any other automatic transmission except you don't hear or feel any gears being shifted and feels a lot smoother.

Obviously, it does still have the drone, but I also enjoyed the Maxima's engine note in person and the simulated shifts helped it not be a constant noise.

Nissan/Infiniti has a huge partnership with Jatco transmission company that builds the CVT and 7 speed automatic for the Q50, Maybe Nissan should ask Jatco to build a new front wheel drive 7 or 8 speed transmission automatic for the Maxima SR

I love the idea of having the perfect ratio each and every time... but if I can’t disable the fake shifts, I ain’t buying. CVT is meant to be stepless. If a CVT shifts, it voids the point of having one. It makes the car slower and less efficient.

That Maxima is a monster. My mom has several cars and trucks but that 2018 Maxima is a jet on the road. Love it! The GPS system is awesome. Her car is smooth and quiet when I am driving.

I thought the same until I drove it and it drives just like a conventional transmission and it is barely noticeable (the CVT) under hard acceleration if the music is into effect. It's an excellent car.

Opinions on the CVT withstanding, those paddle shifters are an absolute joke. Well over half the time the shifts were denied each time he clicked them. So dumb.

I drove a 2016 Nissan Maxima S today and it was tons of fun and I didn't noticed the CVT transmission not one time.
I got maxima 2020 and the CVT is doing a better job than i expected . Amazing great comfy car with high power
