this vid had it all. denial, anger, negotiation, depression, and finally acceptance. blocked db2? lemme test it 35 more times just to be sure.
For any one wondering how The Emperor (Boris) blocks the db2, I've played him locally offline for many years. He has among the best reactions of all the player's I've met. He can see and react to those 22~23f attacks if there are no attacks with similar looking animation and timing, luckily there is with b2 but TMM didn't do enough of them in the right circumstances, we could see him do it a couple of times and they hit, had the done them more at the walls they would have connected a couple of times then the db2 would have hit as it's not worth eating the wall splat. Boris also loves to play big and unorthodox characters with easy long range attacks, especially long range mid launchers, Jack has been his main ever since I played him for the first times in T5, since then Kuma and now Gigas are his favorites. He also adapts to his opponents patterns and timings extremely quickly. BTW I'm JeloSWE

@Charbel Chahine You are just ducking with a timing once Jin start to move. You can react and duck in time when you see Jin start doing something but you can't see WHAT is actually coming. If you mix it up with a slow CD1 and fast ff3. Then it becomes pretty much impossible. Also record MULTIPLE speeds on the CD4, CD1 and ff3 and see how easy it really is. The CD4 mostly get blocked when done from a long CD or a dash to instans CD4 where the opponent can sniff out the timing and kinda expect what's coming.
You can do the CD in two ways, one is so fast that you don't see the crouch, that one mixes well with ff3. And one where you can see a bit of the CD motion, then a really slow CD1/3 mixes well and one can some time hit with CD~ff3 as well. But the key is to have two mids, one that is a bit faster than CD4 and another just a bit slower, then you cant duck on timing or duck first and then stand up once something is moving.
@Charbel Chahine I used to play The Emperor and also my best friend, both of them have very good defense and both are scary good at blocking the CD4. I still need to be care full how I do it, I need to cover it up by wavedash a lot of different mids before going for it. It's definitely not as good as DVJ or Kaz that's for sure. But if ff3 had been 2 frames faster from 23->21 then Jin's mixup would have been near impossible to block.

@Charbel Chahine I think it's unlikely he could actually block the df4 and db4 mixup. I know he has the best reactions I've played against in an offline environment but IF he can, then he would have crazy good reactions. I remain skeptical.

He's not SEEING Heihachi's DB2, he's HEARING it. Just listen for the 'HAHSHEESH- and duck AS SOON as you hear the 'HAH". It is one of the slower frame moves in the game that only ever uses the same sound effect. With some practice, you'll get it.
I guess the only option is to use Hei's worse legacy low, d/b+3 to get at least some pokes.

Its not possible with sound during game...some players just can see the animation.....there is one friend if mine who reacts to db2....to make him not duck...i use b2.
@@best_dad_ever5716 nah it's much more possible to react by sounds lol. Human has much better reaction when it comes to hearing. Although you can react to db2 if you have VERY GOOD eyes reaction go ahead, but good luck with online lag and b2 threat

It's why I stuck by Lars since season one. He might be lacking a lot the higher tiers have, but he syncs with the way I like to play.

Yeah sure, let's just compare this absolutely far above average player to the standard and pretend it fits with what a tier list should be like. TMM failed to adapt, he could have done a lot better but Boris was in his head and he wasn't thinking. Hell he himself says it in the video "Gigas is very very very very weak, but this a good player and a good player can make any character work."
I definitely agree. Tier lists don't make a difference for 99% of the community. They only really start to matter at the highest level of play.

Also, I think this is what most people don't realize about "simple" characters. If you have simple move sets, you pretty much have a lot more focus and attention on different aspects, in this case, Gigas having more focus on defense, since he could punish and poke at such a long range.

Crazy Gigas! Maybe try to do something different after first hit of hell sweep. He did not blocked this move but all follow ups (high or low). What about a throw or a different timed low instead the low extension. Like hell sweep, wait 1-2 frames and then generic d3+4?
Maybe sometimes do the "run away" move with heihachi just to show him something different. Sometimes i simply do nothing at unexpected timings or when i am plus or at wall which may lead to future counter attacks since they are unsure if i will atack.
Not sure how it works at your high level. But it gives them more things to think about?
With kazumi i also ran into defense monsters like him and i have a lot of problems. In this case i also cancel my follow ups like the knee (f3) RSS mix up with throws or RSS back. She is in neutral after f3 but gets respect since f3, 2 is uninterruptable. So the throw is almost for free even if broken. I also cancel kazumi sweep on hit into throw or sidestep to get a counter launch. Very few player expect a RSS cancel. With momentum i go for RSS unbreakables to break defense.
