The difference in the triggers that you say is a difference in feel is because the triggers are actually not the same buttons. The 1st party triggers are both analog and digital. If you slightly hold down on the trigger there is a difference in input than a full press, ex in melee you can light sheild by slightly hilding down on the trigger which effects the shift of your character when their shield is hit and the sheild damage taken. You cant do that on a 3rd party because its only a digital input.

Generally, you are right with this video. There are huge quality differences between the original and the bootleg controller. Regarding the PCB I have the slight apprehension that you do not really know what you are talking about, because you refer to the wrong points. Just because the PCB is painted in an other color, the layout is different or they use an other (totally legitimate) technique to put the controller chip on the PCB, it does not mean it is of lower quality. A good point was that the solder work on the bootleg PCB looks like shit. Do not just say "the other PCB is of much lower quality", give us more points why the quality is lower.
The way he handles the knock off , it's like he wants it to look worse. Omg the directional pad came out. The color of the pad is different.. none of this matters when it's together lol
I can say the differences do matter. I've had an original GameCube controller since 2006 without any issues. I'm not a pro level Smash player but I do like to play casually and have been playing it since 2008. So that controller has quite a bit of wear on it. Me and my diesel teacher switched the C stick and the control stick because the control stick had a lot of play in it. Unfortunately recently the control stick stopped working correctly. But honestly it's very impressive, I've had it for a total of 14 years and the system is used so it could actually be 20 years old because it's one of the older models with the digital port. The system works however it has trouble reading disk but if I clean it like 10 times it'll work. I have an off brand controller that just goes up, and I have a GameStop controller that works, but it's crappy and the a button likes to stick up sometimes. It's an awful experience playing with the GameStop controller. So yeah gotta get my hands on a GameCube controller
Dont listen to the other comment, as someone whos been in the competitive smash community for 3 years now and obsessed with controllers, i can tell you that its best to get a used 1st party controller from a game store nearby
I do have an original controller. But it is extremely worn out to the point where there is no feedback on the buttons anymore. Is it worth it to just get a bootleg or should I get myself a real one?
Lol the fake one is an example of a poorly self made controller. It would be impressive to build your controller by hand, but not for resale purposes. The real one looks like it was polished by a master of controller design with the fake being a beginner.
That's still definitely pressed but just at a much lower quality like any Chinese bootleg, low quality for a pressing but too high of quality for a beginner lol
Mr Mario how can you tell real youtubers vs fake ones? LOL. I know you're one of the real ones I'm not questioning that. Now time for me to finish the video.
Wish I have watched this before making my move. Bought a knockoff for 25 bucks without knowing it was fake, and as soon as I get home the controller is already broken right out of the box. It's not dead, but the L button is stuck in initiation. The trigger feels just fine pressing down on it and clicking it, but while you have it plugged in playing the game, for example in Smash, your character is constantly holding sheild.I took apart the cover, see if the bindings were out of place and it looked fine (for a knockoff). Tested it out again and it's still jank. This time I try and adjust its position, while plugged in (dont do this btw, too risky) never worked until I got lucky and started performing properly out of random. Now it feels like wet garbage pressing the trigger compared to the right trigger. Luckily, I didn't care because I don't use the L button but I'd rather have it out of the way. Another thing....idk if it's just mine, but the control stick is jank too. A few millimeters away from the center, that's when the controller finally realises it's being used. Which sucks because I can't start walking with ease, I'm always dashing, no matter how slowly I move my stick. So yeah. These things are not worth any kind of money. Honestly, they're not even worth free. Stay away from these poor quality builds. If anyone has one of these, you wasted your money on a chunk of dirt. Throw them out, but save the buttons.
If you want a cheap gamecube controller, try looking out for them flea markets or wholesales. I still have a controller from around 2 years ago that I still use today that I bought for $7
I’ve had two GameCube controllers my whole life, one an original one and one silver knock off. They practically the same but even after all these years the silver controllers buttons are so loud and clicky compared to the legit one.
I got 2 bootleg controllers for like 10 euro and they all still work fine 1 year in. I've even dropped one of mine twice and I still can't see any scratches. It feels fine except the triggers were clunky at first so I had to wear them down.

I remember seeing these controllers on Amazon which are often cheaper but tend to have poor build quality reminiscent to the third-party PlayStation/Nintendo controllers sold in the late 1900s and 2000s that are infamous for having problems to the point people would rather use a Sony/Nintendo controller. I had used genuine Nintendo controllers for the Wii and never had an issue aside from the faulty motion controls in games like MySims Party and Goosebumps Horrorland which genuinely don't work well. They have improved for Xbox 360/One/X|S and the Wii U/Switch although the fake (GameCube/Wii/Wii U) and no-name controllers on Amazon and other sites are still bad. The cheap no-name gaming products (keyboard/mice and headsets) found on Amazon and other sites are a similar thing as they're cheaper than the name brands like Razer but often having inferior build quality where they tend to fail in a few months according to most reviews I've read. Pretty much any "gaming" product, especially headsets, that isn't a Logitech, Razer, Corsair, SteelSeries, HyperX, ROCCAT, or Turtle Beach (or PDP, PowerA, Sony, or Microsoft) is likely to be junk.
I have 2 real controllers already, wanted 2 extra controllers just to play drunk games with friends, got two brand new fake ones from amazon for 30$, could even pick the colors! (real ones are 30$ each, used) the quality is lower but they do work fine, they wont be used extensively anyways because I just use the real ones for 1-2 players...
Yeah that happens, I got a pair of knock off ones a while back and the left analog sticks went stiff and all over the place on both. I used it for my wii though so I got a classic controller instead
So, I'm planning to get 4 controllers so I can play with my friends but I'm relatively broke, would you recommend the fake ones for this and which brand do you reccomend?
i sometimes buy a third party just to save money. like if friends come over and they all use gamecube controllers for smash and they're all shit because they refuse to bring theirs;
MrMario2011 The triggers on a 1st party are bith analog and digital, the 3rd party is only digital which is why it feels different, the ziptie prevents the controller from being broken after a month, the stick is softer and doesnt click, the stick doesnt reach its full distant (1st parties dont either but they get way closer)
i assume the outer shells can be swapped? I'm buying a bootlet controller with a colour i like and swap it out with my official gamecube shell just for the color.
Im really considering getting one from AliExpress. I hate using the nunchuck on my wii and i want to be able to play gc games. For 15€ it seems worth it, and hey, if it drifts, im comfortable with opening up electronics, so no issue, right?
Ganf Message me in a month when your controller is ghosting or just doesnt work completely. The ziptie on the wire is really important, and if you play smash the controller is unusable because of the digital triggers and the soft stick
I tried ordering a gamecube controller but it was a knock off, tried playing smash 5,and there was no way I could play it because there was no accept button
I got a usb GameCube controller and it's really nice but the only thing is that the d pad is a little stiff and the triggers don't have pressure sensitivity so you can run and spray in sunshine.
Only 15 bucks for a real Gamecube controller? I paid more for the one I got on E-bay and it had a worn out C stick and thumb stick which I had to replace with a repair kit.
DISCLAIMER, DO NOT USE BOOTLEG PARTS ON 1ST PARTY CONTROLLERS, THEY DO NOT MATCHUP PROPERLY, IF YOU PLAY COMPETITIVE SMASH THIS IS A MUST NOT. JUST GET A BROKEN 1ST PARTY TO SWAP OUT

I got a knock off gamecube controller like about 15 or 16 days ago ... fml..
the left analog stick is really really loose ...
Yeah that happens, I got a pair of knock off ones a while back and the left analog sticks went stiff and all over the place on both. I used it for my wii though so I got a classic controller instead
mine is different the logo that says Nintendo on mine it just says made in china but I think mine was $9.99 dollars.
Wait can you connect that to a Switch with a portholic adaptor?
I bought one at my local gamestore because it was the only gc controller they had except for $35 wavebird ones
So, I'm planning to get 4 controllers so I can play with my friends but I'm relatively broke, would you recommend the fake ones for this and which brand do you reccomend?
Two real ones two fake ones some of your friends dont notice and they are cheap. Not your friends the controllers
i never knew the knock off ones were worse thanks for letting me know about this
i sometimes buy a third party just to save money. like if friends come over and they all use gamecube controllers for smash and they're all shit because they refuse to bring theirs;
I honestly don't care a lot of what colors there are, I just want to find 4 GameCube controllers for the Smash Tournament that I'm throwing soon.
Just found a offical orange one for 5$ at a pawn shop wish me luck that everything works
so whats the difference? I dont know it feels and looks quality
same tbh
MrMario2011 The triggers on a 1st party are bith analog and digital, the 3rd party is only digital which is why it feels different, the ziptie prevents the controller from being broken after a month, the stick is softer and doesnt click, the stick doesnt reach its full distant (1st parties dont either but they get way closer)
i assume the outer shells can be swapped? I'm buying a bootlet controller with a colour i like and swap it out with my official gamecube shell just for the color.
Wtf I had no idea. That the guy from Breaking Bad... oh wait, it's not him. WAIT WHY DID THE REAL GUY FROM BREAKING BAD SAY THIS!?
Im really considering getting one from AliExpress. I hate using the nunchuck on my wii and i want to be able to play gc games. For 15€ it seems worth it, and hey, if it drifts, im comfortable with opening up electronics, so no issue, right?
I just got a knock off and painted the smash logo on it and I can't tell the difference between the two and mine is custom and looks cool.
I have an @play controller an I wonder if I could use the sticks to fix a worn stick
Omg. My second time taking this thing apart. I'm a pro. But just noticed now it has a turbo and a slow option?. Yeah bye
Walter Jr?
I got a usb GameCube controller and it's really nice but the only thing is that the d pad is a little stiff and the triggers don't have pressure sensitivity so you can run and spray in sunshine.
Could u send the link to where u bought the legitimate controller at
has a stick box difference from fake to real?
will it be that if I buy a pirate control and take his stick box and use it in my original work
Also by the way you're a tech Head what do you think of the new samsung galaxy s 6?
84neilbone I don't track Samsung's stuff to be honest, just haven't been a fan of them for a while.
LG is what you have if I am right?
84neilbone Motorola, Nexus 6
Sweet Baby Jesus.
Idk
Man I miss this old intro first part
Gotta keep it in the past.
Only 15 bucks for a real Gamecube controller? I paid more for the one I got on E-bay and it had a worn out C stick and thumb stick which I had to replace with a repair kit.
I litterally raged so hard because of a bootleg controller. It was drifting 95% of the time
Mine doesnt drift
DISCLAIMER, DO NOT USE BOOTLEG PARTS ON 1ST PARTY CONTROLLERS, THEY DO NOT MATCHUP PROPERLY, IF YOU PLAY COMPETITIVE SMASH THIS IS A MUST NOT. JUST GET A BROKEN 1ST PARTY TO SWAP OUT
NEVER GET 3RD PARTY CONTROLLERS, THEY WEAR OUT AFTER A MONTH AND SOME DO NOT HAVE ANALOG TRIGGERS
i bought a 3rd party gamestop gamecube controller and used it for a year and i love it, im able to wavedash, short hop im lovin it, to add on it feels just like the original
Loaf Bloke You should go buy a lottery ticket with that luck. Ive used several 3rd parties from different brands and everytime they would start ghosting after a month of play. How much do you use it, how do you keep the wire, and how hard do you go on it?
Loaf Bloke btw, you must not use the originals a lot, because all the smash4 edition controllers even feel different from the ogs
ive played other games with the ogs but to be fair i havent tried melee with the og
Loaf Bloke How do you dash dance in melee? Who do you main?
