The 'Marionettes' is a suite composed by American composer Edward MacDowell. This was originally composed and published in 1888 as the original edition. This edition had 6 movements instead of 8 in the revised edition. This was revised in 1901, and published once again the same year. These pieces fall in the miniature category, the suite takes around 11 minutes to perform.

MacDowell has really been opening my eyes to more contemporary classical composers. All I ever heard from him in the past was To a Wild Rose, and wow is he so much more than that one little gem of a piece. This man was legitimate master of his craft.
