Penelope is starting to turn heads . Episode 2 out tomorrow ! Full Uncut Commentary for these episodes and other tv shows and movies is available on : www.patreon.com/SeanThompson
I really enjoy your insightful commentary. „As Pen she is seen but not heard and as Whistledown she is heard but not seen“. So true! Whistledown is her way of giving herself a voice in a society that has rejected her from the start.
"I'm expecting him to look like Anthony..." 🤣🤣🤣 Colin showing up with Anthony's missing sideburns is so funny to me. "Did he put some muscle on too?" That was all Luke Newton's idea, after reading Benedict's line about how sturdy Colin got. 'I better get sturdy!'
I love Sean immesdiately picked up that Colin & Pen are both shy and in doing so based on how he acted at the end of the season he was gonna act more like “Anthony” which was he thinks a “man” should be to be taken “seriously” which is a perspective unlike MOST people watching as fans or commenting as reacters even come to.
Yeah, I think people assume Colin is flirty and outgoing because of his new personality he put on after he came back from traveling. But he’s a lot like Pen, they’re both insecure and shy 😢
So what I would say is Collin didn’t say that about pen in season 2 because he meant it, he said it because he was trying to impress those assholes who mocked him for possibly being interested in Penelope, all because he wanted to get people to the new gentlemen’s club to help out and pay back Mondrich for the tip about the new lord featherington schemes.
Here's how the book writer mentions the tropes: Season 1: fake dating Season 2: enemies to lovers Season 3: friends to lovers Season 4: love at first sight (if it indeed turns out to be Benedict's season 🤞)
Bridgerton in general is very formulaic, this guy seems like a really insightful person who's very familiar with writing/storytelling and the genre, it's still really cool!!
honestly one of the better reactions i've seen to this season ! i rlly appreciate your commentary bcus i feel like you read the characters well ^^ this is alr my fav season without a doubt so i'm excited to see ur reactions to the further eps
I actually think that Pen is beautiful and she definitely looks better in either the paler and more subdued colors or darker colors like the green emerald green dress she wears to the first ball or the pale green one she wears later on, because with her hair color and skin tone the yellow she was always forced to wear wasn’t flattering at all but in either pale or dark colors she is stunning.
Just started watching your channel today after watching the response to Pride and Prejudice. I love this season of Bridgerton as well. I can't believe that nobody at least as far as the comments I read didn't mention that there are several Emma movie adaptations as Emma was written by Jane Austen the same writer of the book Pride and Prejudice and truly the inspiration for most modern day romances and definitely for the Bridgerton series. She was more than just a romance writer she truly understood people and critiqued the period she lived in. You should maybe looking into more of the movies based on her books since you liked P & P and Bridgerton. Emma, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, and my favorite Persuasion(but not the new Netflix version -it is horrible).
lol that’s the point though! In his journal entries, he mentions that since no one has been writing to him while he was traveling (including Pen), that he was going to try “a new personality on.” That was his new personality-the flirty rake, but it came off as cringe bc that’s not who he really is deep down!
Love your insightful commentary man! 2 minutes in and you have a new sub. I'm so glad you "get it" and clearly understand these characters deeply. Looking forward to your other videos!
This season is quickly becoming my favorite…but we’ll see what part two brings. 😬 Emma is a fun Jane Austen tale, and the (2020) film is fun and beautifully done, but I will always love the (2009) BBC 4-part miniseries. If you haven’t seen either they would make for great reaction videos. I really enjoy your attention to detail and funny commentary. My favorite reactions are men watching film or shows typically directed at women.
Something that I didn't let bother me too much in previous watches of this episode is even the concept that Violet should find a dowager house now! It makes no sense when she still has so many children that require her "mothering". Maybe when it's just Hyacinth or some mix of her, Eloise, and Gregory...?? But what's still Francesca, and Greg being so young, the concept that she should have moved out seems cocoa bananas
I think in regency time the Dowager would move out to a Dower house and take her minor children with her. The children out in society would be under the purview of the Viscount and Viscountess. At least that's my understanding haha
In the book, they buy a new house, near Pen's house and everyone unmarried lives with her most of the time (Colin travels a lot during his twenties and some of the time live here to but if he stay some months in London, he rent an apartment. Ben have his own house outside of London but I think he live here too when he is in the city)
I think he's in such a great place with timing to watch season 3 and really appreciate it. Where a lot of people, when it has been 4 to 2 years since they really seen interactions with Polin, are more likely to have trouble with it. But at the same time I think he will be shocked. This will be such an interesting set of reactions 😂❤
Featherington had all girls. We don't know about the new husbands' families, but we do know Bridgerton had an equal number of boys and girls. I feel like Pen will have the first boy of this generation and she & Colin will inherit the Featherington esstates.
Please tell me you’re watching all episodes this time! Season 2 was amazing but unfortunately you somehow managed to skip the best episodes. It was so frustrating. 😅 Great reaction!

The thing is, Colin has ALWAYS loved Pen. Longing looks have always been there. He was just too much of a boy to know what he was feeling.

Season 1: fake dating

Plus Sophie's a little bit like dating below their station.
@@turnipcrazy yup, social class issues in Britain.
Everafter...
Somewhere during this episode Lady Whistledown newspaper turned into Death Note. 😂
you're so spot on with all your predictions i can hardly believe you haven't watched this before 😮
he's always so spot on, its annoying hahaha
Bridgerton in general is very formulaic, this guy seems like a really insightful person who's very familiar with writing/storytelling and the genre, it's still really cool!!
He’s ALWAYS incredibly spot on. It’s insane but really interesting. I can’t imagine what it’s like to watch a movie with him lol.
That's his super power 🤩 sometimes it's really annoying how he is guess 😅🙈
Though he is a bit off in his timing for Part 1 events.
honestly one of the better reactions i've seen to this season ! i rlly appreciate your commentary bcus i feel like you read the characters well ^^ this is alr my fav season without a doubt so i'm excited to see ur reactions to the further eps
You are so good at spotting the subtle details! And also remembering all the past details! It is so refreshing! Also your predictions for Part 2 are 🔥
"She needs it, she's stressed out" 😂😂😂 Can't wait to see your reaction to the rest of the episodes.

Your reactions are always such an awesome mixed bag of incredibly astute guesses, and things I think you'll be shocked by. Love it!🎉
They are my favorites. I'm loving this season and i can't wait for part 2.
This is so good, having people like you in the community is definitely part of the bridgerton magic

Dear gentle reactor
This viewer does very much enjoy all the speculations
Keep up the good work 😁
I love how invested you are in everyone!
7:42 hahaha😂 I find Colin's*wink* so horrendous! 😆🤣

I love this season most
Same this season's friends to lovers stood out to me more
Yaaas! Its Polin time!
Something that I didn't let bother me too much in previous watches of this episode is even the concept that Violet should find a dowager house now! It does make sense...her responsibilities fall to Anthony's wife.
I think in regency time the Dowager would move out to a Dower house and take her minor children with her. The children out in society would be under the purview of the Viscount and Viscountess. At least that's my understanding haha
The kids would go with her
In the book, they buy a new house, near Pen's house and everyone unmarried lives with her most of the time (Colin travels a lot during his twenties and some of the time live here to but if he stay some months in London, he rent an apartment. Ben have his own house outside of London but I think he live here too when he is in the city)
To me it would just make sense for the newer couple to get a new house, but this whole society is about ancestry so whatever 😅
I think he's in such a great place with timing to watch season 3 and really appreciate it. Where a lot of people, when it has been 4 to 2 years since they really seen interactions with Polin, are more likely to have trouble with it. But at the same time I think he will be shocked. Great insight. Excited to see you watch the rest
Your brain is genius ✨

13:57 Oh you should watch Emma (2020)! It's hilarious
