Good video William. I am at 41,xxx miles with Wave. I have been at this for over 3 years now. Last year Wave came out and told us if we needed to take a few months off do so because it was going to be slow. This was for May-June-July 2023. I took the 3 months off to recover from a hernia repair... lol. This year I took May-June off to bring my college aged children back from college.... Yes I use my Com-Data card for my personal camping (in our Vanleigh-Tiffin 5th wheel) and truck expenses. I drive a 2016 GMC 3500 Denali dually.... I have the real Allison transmission in my truck. I have 190k on it and I did a complete transmission filter service at 115K; this included the internal and external filters and fluid change. I expected Wave to be transparent to us drivers about the slow load board. I thank God for my Veterans pension because this is the time when many drivers don't have a revenue stream to support a new truck payment, etc. BTW... I started with Horizon, within the 1st 5 months I was hauling loads to the local Camping World locations in my home state of MN. This is when I came over to Wave. I use to have Diana for a dispatcher, now I have someone else who only called me once in 2 months....(?) I did take July off due to having Covid for 3 weeks..... I will see you around.. either in the #33 yard or #38 yard in Goshen.... Drive safe. James B. Duluth, MN.
Hi James! Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us! We appreciate it! Looking forward to running into you at a yard in the future! Safe travels out there!
What fridge are you using there in the front seat? Great video. Everything you said about the boards is so true. I’ve been doing this since 2020 and I agree with ya 100%.
Great video as usual! Some insight as someone who has pulled for 5 different RV Transport carriers... the bigger companies will never pay the best. I made the lowest per mile when pulling for Indiana Transport. But on the positive side, I always had freight to move. It's not always worth it to chase the highest rates from carrier to carrier. Sounds like Wave has been good at getting you both high rates and freight. Hope it continues for you!
I wouldn't worry about there not being many loads I've been with horizon for around 4 years starting in june 2022 there weren't any loads on the load board for about a year. It didn't really affect me I was still able to stay busy. As long as your not picky about where you go you will stay busy.
My advise for your trans is this, (my dad was a trans repairman all his life. The last 25 years he work for himself.) The best thing to do is put a trans cooler on your truck. Then change you fluid every 50k miles and your shouldn't have any problems. What is happening is your are pulling loads and it is raising the temp of your fluid, when that happens the clutches in the trans are over heating. They are made of fiber on top of steel. It gets to hot and deteriorates from the heat. Check your fluid once a month and smell it, if it smells burnt or has a brownish color instead of red replace it soon. Those trucks are not built to withstand the constant extra pressure of pulling loads. Enjoy your video's, be safe. I drove a truck for 38 years.
btw.... William... get 26,000 plates for your truck... then you can haul up to # 15750 +/-. Just my .02.... My scale ticket on my 2016 GMC Denali Dually with Fuel is 10,000 lbs.... just my .02 ( I do have my CDL prior to RV transport) I don't want to pull anything over my 26K GVWR because then I would to mount a permanent ELD in my truck. Currently I use a Samsung tablet that runs wi-fi from my truck. I use my truck a lot for my personal camping and trips to Home Depot or Menards and I don't need the hassle to log my personal conveyance miles (while on off-duty status).
Thanks for commenting - we actually have a 26k license plate - that is a requirement for Wave. We appreciate you taking your time and sharing your story with us!
Hi, I love your videos say hi to your wife. We go on short trips with my husband when we can (me and two kids) it’s fun we love it!!! We use One Call Logistics to get loads, their accounting dep sucks but they keep us busy!
Thank you for taking the time to comment and we are grateful for your support. Robin says, hi! 👋 We appreciate you sharing your story with us - that’s really cool that you all get to go along on adventures as a family! That’s awesome!
I retired in June with a new truck, and RV transport is something I want to do. So far I haven't found a way to do it because I live in NY. If you know anyone from NY doing RV transport, maybe they can share with me how to get past the insurance issues.
Thanks for your videos, they are informative for sure! I'm a r.v. transporter out of Goshen, when we except a load the company advances us (about) %45 to cover fuel cost etc and we are paid the final amount due after the dealer signs our inspection forms and we scan & email them in and, yes more often then not we are paid in the same day. When you say you billed, what does that mean?
This is the link for the one next to me in the truck: amzn.to/3Xba8Ze This is the video I did about this one: this one can be a freezer as well. The top one is just a refrigerator. th-cam.com/video/5XLni9vyxNs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2OMDX_UIeSS-hBo6
I’m at Indian Trans and we’ve never seen $1.80. This is a cheap company. Load board has zero outbound loads as of today. You cant succeed here when there are zero loads. Just the reality of it.
I’m pretty sure whoever told you you are not covered under your transmission doesn’t know what they’re talking about! I will go higher up and the company, and if the company doesn’t stand behind it in South happens, I would sue! That being said, I will just go ahead and trade the truck again if this is the attitude of the company
The economy is crashing rvs be the last thing that people will spend money on i drove truck for 2.8 million miles. Been through some tuff times but when refers hauling food for 1.85 per mile and up this is bad😢
RV ‘Crash’ generally means 30% new sales drop - but also means inventory gets moved around. If anything unemployment goes up and low barrier to entry would just mean rates go down which hurts more than actual qty of RVs sold.
As a retired A.S.E certified mechanic, These newer diesel trucks are nothing but junk... They are made to drive empty to the store and church.. They are not made to haul weight... My 07 ford E-450 6.8L V-10 cab and chassis dually will outlast any of these new trucks and it cost me 1/5 the cost to maintain...
You’re comparing an industrial v10 gas job against a diesel tow rig. I’m not knocking the v10 I have run them since 03 and they are amazing motors well built and nearly impossible to to kill . We have had close to 25 of them over the years all without engine issues . But they don’t have much power .
@ronaldblondeau3883 I love diesel powered trucks but ever since the 7.3L diesel engine was no longer available, ford went down hill.. Any diesel engine with all this crap emissions and DEF fluid are nothing but junk in my opinion...

BTW: Our 6.6 Duramax engines have a huge transmission cooler....
Thanks for sharing this info with us - we appreciate it! Btw thanks for your support - means a lot to us! 38 years..congratulations!
My transmission guy Raco transmission in Coshocton Ohio says every 50k dump the fluid and filter.
Coshocton is really beautiful, I’m in NW Ohio myself
Thanks for the info!
I just started with horizon and delivered my first load yesterday hopefully I'll see ya out there sometime
Very cool! Safe travels!! Thanks for commenting!

Thank you for all the information! I’m saving for a truck now so I can get into this in the next year or two. Hopefully it’s still worth it then.
You're welcome - glad I can help! Best of luck to you!

He means the amount of money they paid before he deducts expenses. Essentially his gross pay.
Hey buddy, I drive for WAVE to. What's the brand and how much is the refrigerator sitting next to you? Thanks David

Owning a new truck equal sacrificing luxury for practicality
Truck prices kind of flipped few years ago. Not sure if you saw some of that crazy.
Need to talk about permits and tolls.. That’s something No one talks about. Been our biggest issue. I’m with Horizon.
Do a video on it..
Thanks for commenting! We will do a video about that in the near future!
Where in Ala. are you?

Curious if you see or know of many drivers pulling loads with an actual semi?
There are quite a few in multi haul..
In multi haul - yes in single haul no but that doesn't mean there aren't any out there doing that we just haven't seen any when we are on the road.
Wave only taking CDL certified right now.
No. Not necessary
@@rileyhiggins4753 I was approved, but put on hold because they said they're only taking CDL
Where are the classes at.?
Indiana
